Interesting you should ask. I just got a copy yesterday of Classic Records 200 gram LP re-issue of Duke Ellington's "Blues In Orbit". I used to own a copy of this great LP, but a friend left it next to a heater and it got severely warped, and I've resisted paying collector prices for a replacement. The Classic Records re-issue is terrific, with fine mastering and outstanding vinyl surfaces. Damn but Ray Nance, Jimmy Hamilton, Paul Gonzalves, and the other soloists sound fine!!!! |
Hey Slipknot1-
Im with Joan Baez "Farewell, Angelina on the 180g Vanguard label re-issue by Cisco and also...John Coltrane "Blue Train on Blue Note 1577 200g Classic 45 rpm issue...Very,very cool! |
Kehut: another interesting coincidence. I bought the same Baez LP about a month ago, and will be attending a Joan Baez concert here in Seattle tomorrow night. Talk about a trip back to my college days in the early 60's... |
Just a heads up SD, don't do the brown acid :^) |
With some friends over to listen... Queen: Night at the Opera (LP) Muddy Waters: Folk Singer (MSFL)(LP) Satchmo Plays King Oliver (Classic Records 45rpm reissue) Ossian: Seal Song (LP) Mendelssohn: Hebrides Overture (Speakers Corner 45rpm reissue)
And then on CD so everyone could listen to some music they liked: Elbow: Cast of Thousands (CD) Gladiator Soundtrack (CD)
And night before last, I was listening to Joan Baez Angelina also, but on my decades old Vanguard pressing - still sounded pretty good even with all the wear and tear. |
Glen: I'm sorry, what we're you saying... or was I just imagining that you were in my head speaking to me????
