For me its the first or very early LP's of: Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South" Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer" and, Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

Played an extra LP side tonight...blame it on nostalgia? Yes, it was 80’s vinyl night where I played straight Pop to keep it very mainstream/nostalgic. Regarding SQ nothing stood out to claim Audiophile status but 4 near misses is a solid night. Mellencamp would get the SQ edge over the other 3.
I keep seeing records rated at 180 grams now I see 200 grams, what does the gram rating signifies? Does the gram rating determines the quality of the sound reproduced by the record or something else?
The gram rating is just the volume/weight of PVC in a particular pressing. I have super light pressings that sound great. Theoretically, the heavier record, having greater mass will self damp resonances produced as the stylus navigates the grooves. SQ has more to do with using original tapes by a great mastering engineer through high quality electronically and a great vinyl formulation with quality pressing machines and knowledgeable technicians to run them.
"listener edition - cut from the original analog tapes"
Good album, but the sound quality is not great. I’ve cleaned it 3 times. Noticed it was covered in something, and it now looks clean and plays quiet. But the sound quality is not as good as the CD or streaming versions IMHO. Wonder if I should try to return it?
I picked up the two Jellyfish albums on LP in the 90’s, and only recently learned those LP’s are somewhat scarce (Tower Records had them back then). I also twice saw them live, and sympathize with those who didn’t. Absolutely a-ma-zing!
@bdp24- Yep, those original Jellyfish LPs are quite valuable. Wish I bought them back in the day. And wish I saw them live too...
@slaw - My copy of "Bellybutton" is the 2023 reissue - UMe – B0038585-01. I had been looking for a copy of one of the early 1990 releases, but they are WAY too expensive. Was really happy when I saw it was reissued, but wish the SQ was better.

ABBA-Greatest Hits Vol.2 Side 2
TOTO-Past To Present(1977-1990) Side 1 SQ Audiophile

All albums have been previously played, blame Thanksgiving for me not cleaning any unplayed vinyl. I will give the SQ crown to Ms. Price for an incredible 1961 Contemporary recording, hope Chad considers a reissue!
