Teo Game-Changer IC's - get on the bus!

I wrote an extremely long review of 4 cables auditioned in my system recently. I pontificated for way too long and it was more an outlet for me to tell a story that cables do matter and how much each design can make your system sound. The last cable through was the Teo GC IC purchased here and it truly was a game-changer in how it shifts our paradigm about what wire gives us as "truth" and what this slurry of Ga-In-Sn can do better (IMO). Not a technical review but an emotional roller coaster through 4 different topologies:

Ribbons
Graphene
Multi-strand
Liquid

I'm happy to re-broadcast that here but it is very long (6+ MSWord pages long). I'll point to it for now and take your advice.

Bottom line is the GC cable is truly stunning in what it can do and for us mere mortals who cannot spend thousands on cabling, I believe it can elevate anyone's system to new heights.

Anyone in the NYC area have these cables?  I just received a full set of Belden  Iconoclast cables to try and would love to compare an excellent traditional material with Teo's cutting edge materials.  Very exciting time in the world of cables.

Hey Ozzy,
Maybe it is time for you to loan some "Clear Day" cables and compare them with the Cerious and other cables that you have. That would be interesting.

milpai,

I have them. I also have the Morrows. They are very nice cables but not in the league with the Cerious or High Fidelity.

In the past I have owned or tried: Top of the line HiDiamond, Purist Domious, Synergistic Apex, Kimber Select, and many, many others. That's why I think of myself as some sort of a cable guru. Heck I even made speaker cables out of 12 gauge 9999 soft annealed silver wire.

Too bad Teo has chickened out.

ozzy

I had the Cerious and the Teo GC's. I just sent the Cerious back but kept their Red Power cord for my Oppo. Their Red Power cord made a positive difference in the clarity of the sound coming from the Oppo that was worth the $349. I might get another one for the Coda.

In my system... Coda CSIB Integrated, an Oppo BDP 105D, Revel F52 Speakers... The GC's were just better then the Cerious. They revealed more detail, deeper and wider soundstage, and better instrument placement. Compared to the Teo's the Cerious sounded muffled... as if a slight veil was over the sound.

I auditioned several solid silver cables and found them to be crisp and tight but it sounded like every instrument was on the same plane and were fighting for my attention. Minimum depth of field and fast ear fatigue.

With the Teo's the instruments sounded like they were at different positions in the sound field. Not just left, right and center but front, middle ground, and back. In certain recordings it sounded like some of the instruments were coming from the side of me and occasionally from behind me. It was encompassing... but I only have 2 speakers.

If I had not heard the Teo's I would have probably been happy with the Cerious Graphenes.

As more people use these cables I would be like to know if they think there are better $500 cables out there. I would try them.

But I don't know if you can find a better cable for $500 bucks. I know cables are an ear / system dependent adventure so your experience may be different.

For now I've stopped looking.
For now I've stopped looking.

Till you hear their Splash cables @meambler ... I was in the exact same boat, absolutely blown away by their GCs, till Taras had my try the Splash Copper ICs... wowzers...
Teo GC is a heck of a good cable, it has more sophistication presentation in my other system...it's worth every penny you spend on it.Ken is a very nice person to talk to as well..,
Bumperdoo, I thought you had a Splash Silvers?

@kclone I have the Splash Copper at the moment... seems you can’t link to a specific post in this forum software, but if you scroll back you’ll see Taras brought over a pair of Silvers to test before shipping out to a client and we both agreed that we liked the edge definition of the silvers in this system and quite likely will be switching to those...

How much are the Splash coppers?

I’ll find out for you @meambler as I’m seeing Taras today for some more listening tests and will ask him current pricing. I poked around here and found this post from Teo...

I wander if this all is just another flaviour of the month.

Perhaps @dragon_vibe but Teo has been around a dozen years.
I wonder if this all is just another flavor of the month.

Ahhh...you've been around the block before, huh?

Hang around another couple years and you are bound to see Teo join the "Why so many XXX's for sale?" type of thread. ;^)

Will it go round in a circles?
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky?
Yes Jmc we audiophile, we like to experiment on cables, possible in one year will see more Teo on Agon used for sale...I will wait...
Taras and I are sitting here listening.. pricing:

  • Splash Ref C USD$1950
  • Splash Ref S USD$2200
He says limited time... hope that helps!
+1 @meambler. In my system, less air and transparency in high's and mid's with Cerious compared to GC's. Same experience with Cerious speaker cables vs. others.
@klh007 - currently using Triode Wire Labs American speaker cables. Great tonal balance and depth throughout the range. In my system, they really improved PRAT and low end weight while retaining mid-high clarity and extension. Not the most exotic cables, but reasonably priced with a 30-day trial period and Pete is great to deal with.

I also think Pete is a great guy. I have owned the Triode Wire Labs American SC's and in my system they didn't come close to the sound of the Graphene Extreme SC's. The Teo GC's do win out over the Graphene Extreme IC's and every other interconnect I've tried.
The Teo combo Splash/GC is the best IC's I have ever had in my system.  It wasn't so with just the Splash alone.  But once I added the GC and got around 100 hours on them, well, it was really a game changer, especially after 100 hours.
Simply awesome @kclone - enjoy your bliss!

Re-discover your music collection and don't be shocked if you say things like, "Wow, I never heard that before," or "Jeez, I never really listened to the drums on this album before, but now that I see the entire drum kit..."
These IC's are balanced, spacious, airy, very live sounding, and well extended without being harsh, yes even on dry, hard, bright recordings.    Those recordings still sound inferior, but you can still enjoy them at a decent volume without wanting to leave the room.  For good material, simply outstanding.   For the record, I am using the Triode Wired Labs Obsession power cords on my amp and pre.  TWR are great PCs for sure.
It is connected to the fluid being a superior material in the complex impedance area of dynamic distortions being added to signals. This is the ’action’ point of audio cables.

Since the fluid cannot ’add’ such distortions and all wire does add those distortions, especially when you crank the signal levels...this explains your ability to have air and space at the same time it never goes harsh like wire does. Or that the ’wire’ system (non fluid wire cables) is so damped and dark it obscures signal along with the seeming fix.

Which leads to the known circular argument of always changing your wire loom to try and fix a problem ~which is endemic to the wire itself~. It simply can’t be done.

Only the fluid metal gets you past this point (when wire/solids are applied to audio signal scenarios).

This seems like a ludicrous statement on the face of it, but once the wire has been compared to the liquid metal- by an observant listener-... it all becomes quite obvious.

When people try the Teo audio cables they tend to get off the cable merry-go-round.

To add, single simple permanent solutions are not generally desired in a marketing system. Merry go rounds are more desirable.
Thanks teo_audio,

Those of us who trust our own ears don't NEED an explanation to enjoy what we hear, or validate it, but it's nice to get one.
I have really never understood the cables are nonsense crowd.  If your gear is good enough, you can hear the differences between cables.  It is really not that hard, it's just not.
I spend 7 days of the Teo GC , I enjoy it so much, one of the best ic I tried.
I have really never understood the cables are nonsense crowd.

Don't go there @kclone - some are just here to stir the pot. Look at the posts they've started and you'll go, "Ah, one of those..." and move on.

I enjoy it so much, one of the best ic I tried.

Awesome @jayctoy - they are indeed sublime.
The GC made my pioneer sb22 sounds like that expensive speaker I heard at AXPONA THIS YEAR, I DID mentioned this experience to MARKr.
well, let's use the most expensive gear or whatever is good enough and see if people can detect a difference in interconnects

surely, the cablemakers would publish such studies, eh?
surely, the cablemakers would publish such studies, eh?

In a heart-beat @randy-11 as the difference derived from a Teo cable is that pronounced. I would encourage you to try a blind test and report back on your findings.
Totally directional @limniscate - arrows should point away from your pre-amp toward your amp(s), for example.
The Teos are not nearly as good as the magnetic monopole interconnects
Randy, why don't you go ahead and try them out?  What do you have to lose?   they have a try out policy.  Then you can tell us we are all crazy.
How do you know I haven't?

Hey - try the magnetic monopole interconnects - they will blow your mind!
okay, good enough.  what Is an example of magnetic monopole IC's?  High Fidelity?
Sad to say,  I'm running out of hope for my GC's.  I've had them running 24/7 for the past week and it doesn't look like they're going to make it.  Very disappointed so far. Totally lacking the musicality I was so looking forward to.  I'll give it the rest of the weekend but this has been a heck of a let down.  Sorry if this doesn't match your experience - could be just a bad fit with my equipment.
Janehamble don't force yourself to like the GC why there is audition period, what is the length ?if you are in the US, I am interested...
could be just a bad fit with my equipment

What is your setup @janehamble ? And where in your system are you auditioning the GCs?
I'm playing FLAC files through Audirvana 3, Hegel HD25 DAC, Belles amp, Kudos Super 20's.  The USB connection is via Curious Cables with a W4S Recovery. I'll report back with conclusions soon.
What computer @janehamble ?

Sometimes it's a very simple thing that is over looked - for example, on the Mac, make sure the Audio Devices utility has the Master volume on the USB output set to 1.0. Anything less and you'll get crap.

It's too bad this forum doesn't permit the upload of images so I can show a screenshot instead of attempting to describe things. Ugh.
