Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat

^^^ Naw, you guys missed the humor. All kidding aside. Small appliances seem to work more efficiently. As an example, last night I put a bag of popcorn in the microwave. It usually takes exactly two minutes on high to complete. Last night it was done in one minute and forty five seconds. No joke. No joke about the refrigerator or the electric bill either. Has to be the results of the two mats in the circuit breaker box. Get six mats from Tim and try them for yourselves. If you don't get the results I've described in any of my posts, return them for a refund. No questions asked. I sincerely believe that you will be thankful for the adventure. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Music recommendation: If you like Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Zoot Sims, Herbie Mann, Pepper Adams, Kenny Burrell, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones, here's some beautiful ballads that go real well with that morning cup of coffee: www.ebay.com/itm/Chet-Baker-Chet-Baker-Evans-Bill-Legendary-Sessions-New-CD/361824708342?epid=801943... Highly recommended. Frank |
@oregonpapa "5. Street lights are brighter." What? I'm going to assume that you haven't put mats or TC around your neighborhood lights so.... isn't it possible that streets and sanitation cleaned the lights, or the moon cycle illumination affected the sense of increased lighting or etc, etc. IDK Frank. Do you think that your performance evaluations could be breeding controversy and strong negative reaction? LP |
“I am not "putting down" something I know little about. Is the mat that could be appraised by a mag such as Stereophile? It seems that much of the knowledge and experience is word of mouth and perhaps a lot of audiophiles out in the world are missing out?” amg56, It is my understanding that Stereophile and TAS (maybe other mags as well?) have a policy that in order for them to review a product, the manufacturer must have a network of dealers. This means that companies who sell their products direct, not through dealers, can never get a review, no matter how effective and/or popular their products may be. An example of this would be Herbie’s Audio Lab. They have been making excellent, effective vibration control products (tube dampers, footers etc.) for many years. However, because they sell direct, none of their products have ever been reviewed in Stereophile or TAS. As you know, when dealers get involved, you have substantial markups. This means higher prices. How many wonderful, reasonably priced, audio products are not as well known as they should be, because of those two magazine’s policies? |
amg56 ... I don't believe that I've ever put you down for anything. And I won't. Ever. To answer your question ... 1. Audio ... you know about that. 2. Video ... you know about that. 3. Appliances --- I've had to turn the temperature up three times in my refrigerator. Because it runs more efficiently, it kept freezing the vegetables in the vegetable drawer. 4. Lights in the house seem brighter. 5. Street lights are brighter. 6. Overall electric bill has gone down by about 10%. All of the above include the Mats in the circuit breaker box and judicious use of TC in places unimaginable. :-) Frank |
While I enjoy reading all the audio adventures 99% of you are having, I am really interested in whether other improvements have been experienced other than audio/video? Many pages back I asked a similar question and was churlishly put down as a troll. Why would a question about other improvements be out of place? I read that many mats have been placed in the breaker boxes/ fuse boxes what ever the particular country parlance is. I would be interested if the mats do have an effect on other appliances. Bedside clocks would be an example as these share an electrical feed from the fuse box. I am not "putting down" something I know little about. Is the mat that could be appraised by a mag such as Stereophile? It seems that much of the knowledge and experience is word of mouth and perhaps a lot of audiophiles out in the world are missing out? |
^^^ Thanks, carpathian ... I was wondering if you home roast, or have ever done so. The person I bought my speakers from years ago was a home roaster and he turned me on to it. I was already into good coffees (Gevalia) and had it home delivered pre-roasted. You'll pay as much or more for a half pound of pre-roasted Gevalia than you would for a full pound of green coffee beans from sweetmarias. https://www.google.com/search?q=gevalia+coffee&oq=gaialvia+coffee&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.113... It was good coffee, but the person who sold me the speakers sent me a quarter pound of four different varieties that he roasted. I was sold after one sip. It was that good. I bought a roaster and some green beans from www.sweetmarias the next day and never looked back. That was about ten years ago or so. Frank |
thecarpathian ... Thanks for the suggestion on the Kona coffee. I’ve tried the Kona coffees and they are lovely. I find them a bit too smooth for my tastes though. I’ve posted my source for green coffee beans before, but here it is again: www.sweetmarias.com If you go to the site and check out the coffees, you’ll find a graph that shows the characters of each variety. I like the ones with the chocolate overtones. That’s usually the Guatemalan coffees and sometimes the African coffees. However, the Africans are usually noted for their fruity overtones ... a bit of ripe plum, peach or apricot. My brother likes the Africans a lot. This morning, I brewed some top notch coffee from Ethiopia ... yum, very chocolaty in nature. I like a nice bright cup with the flavors unraveling and exposing themselves as the cup cools a bit. At that point, the really good ones hit you with a bit of sweetness right back where the jaw hinges on each side. I love that ... and the Guatemalan coffees seem to get it really right most of the time. No sweeteners needed. I usually go along with what Tom & Maria suggest on their site. Oh, and their service is top notch. Most folks brew their coffee way too strong. What I described above is achieved with lighter brews. If you, or anyone else would like some guidance on which roaster to buy, I’d be more than happy to help. Frank |
Jay23 ... One thing you can be assured of Jay ... I have never reported anyone to the moderators no matter how insulting, demeaning or hurtful their comments have been. I don’t believe in censorship, believing instead, that the answer to offensive free speech is simply more free speech. You have reported me twice in an attempt to shut me out. You have called me every name in the book, for reasons I cannot fathom. I won’t do that to you because it’s not my style. I’ll just let your last post stand so that other members can get a gauge on exactly the type of person you are. Or until the Mods discover your latest acid drenched attack against me and remove it. What’s really troubling you Jay? You seem to be hung up on what I paid, or didnt pay, for items tested. Is that it? If I didn’t pay for things, are you suggesting that it would somehow influence my test results? Can you see that just by asking the question you are questioning my integrity as a person? Jay, do you ever read what you write before posting and consider the effect it may have on others, or are you just as vindictive of a person as many of your posts suggest? You’re sad, dude ... very sad. On the payment, or non-payment issue ... I don’t owe you a damn thing, including an explanation. Why you think you are so entitled is a mystery to me. Dude. find a nice little safe place, or perhaps a cozy little cry room somewhere and work it out. You’d be a much finer human being if you did. Now then, I will count the seconds it takes you before you report this post to the Mods. Be sure to don your brown shirt before you do though ... you wouldn’t want to appear out of character. Like your last post ... it just wouldn’t be appropriate. Have a great evening. Frank |

My three black and two red duplexes are obsolete? How bad are they? I really like the sound improvement from the black duplex. The blue fuse doesn’t make the black fuse obsolete, but somewhat better. I could still live with a black fuse but I really liked the immediate improvement of the blue fuse. The difference between the colored SR fuses and colored SR duplexes do not compare to the great improvement in sound using six E-Mats. The E-Mats are more like the difference between a stock cheap non-audiophile fuse and an SR black or blue fuse. |
Continuing the idea of improving one’s Audio-Visual System: Yesterday I upgraded the wall outlet to the AV system to a Synergistic Research Blue outlet. Another improvement to movie watching satisfaction. Picture quality improved and Audio dynamics especially improved. The combination of using Omega E Mats and Synergistic Research Blue outlets is most satisfying. David Pritchard |
Just the one E-Mat over the main breaker panel has improved the picture quality (depth and color) on a Sony 940D and suprisingly, the bass and depth of a pair of ADS 600s two way speakers attached to a Yamaha CR600. My wife and I are amused and happy to have elevated the audio of our TV so much (sounds twice as big) with just a single E-Mat over the main breaker panel. The main audio system is located 50' away and isolated with it's own subpanel and 12" thick double walls. |
hifiman5: I also think the circuit breaker box is an excellent location for a first Mat. If possible place it in the circuit breaker after a listening session and then let it start to equilibrate overnight before your first listen. I think you will hear additional changes at about 3 days, and then a blossoming of sound at 12-14 days. I think you should have a firmly stabilized system at 21 days. I found this time table also applied to visual improvement in my video system.Sharper images, more 3D sensation, and more vivid colors. Old black and white movies also benefit from the Mat. Ronrags: I have not tried the Mat with my tube amplifiers, but my circuit breaker was completely treated with Total Contact before I added a Mat at this location. The Mat gave additional benefits. The Mat certainly has a positive effect with Pass Lab amplifiers. David Pritchard |
hifiman5 ...
None that I know of. Everyone seems to be happy with the mats. Congrats, by the way. You’ve made a good choice for the location of your "first" mat. :-) ronrags ... I, and others, found that under the line stage is the best place to double up the mats. That’s after placing one in the circuit breaker box though. Frank |
After 603 posts about the Omega E-Mat I decided to pull the trigger and order one. I plan to place it, using the magnetic side, to the inside of my 200 amp service located in the basement just outside of my listening room. I’m hoping to hear improvements in audio down here and visual improvements on my 65" UHD screen. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if any customers have returned the E-Mat after sufficient trial time? 🤔 |
I have a question for those with several mats. Has anyone experimented which components or which combination of components sound best with the mats? I have 3 mats and initially decided to place 1 on the power conditioner since all my components are plugged into it. (I didn't place a mat on my circuit breaker box but applied TC to the inside of the door instead). The other 2 mats were placed on the music server and the dac but not the tube integrated amp. I could experiment switching or stacking the mats but that could take several weeks since it takes about 2 weeks for the mats to reach their full potential with each component. Any recommendations? |
I received my second e mat yesterday. Now 24 hours later I have heard further improvements. The thing I noticed right away was that I have even more bass and more of a fuller sound in my room. Soundstage continues to expand and yes the noice floor has dropped even more. The inner details previously hidden are more apparent. It is great fun to crank the music and have a system that totally sings and is not missing a beat or under any stress, and this is when I really crank the sound to what used to be its stress limit. Music sounds so live and real and full of energy. I have never had this much fun with my music system and even a lot of my old cds from the 80s are sounding good |
Joseph: I do think your approach is very smart. Take some time to let each Mat achieve it's maximum effect at that location. My results so far indicate to start with the circuit breaker box location for the first Mat as you then will have a beneficial effect on multiple pieces of equipment. If possible place the Mat at a trial location and then give it at least overnight before any serious listening. I heard differences at 10 hours, three days, and then a significant change at the 12-14 day mark. Have fun with the Mats! If they improve your listening sessions keep them and if they do not send them back. With the 30 day trial period there is no need for a snap decision for or against. Return postage is cheap. I do hope forum readers that stream music will take the opportunity to listen to Zuill Bailey's cello work. A nice CD is his playing cello with David Leisner on acoustic guitar. Recorded in an auditorium and not a studio, the interplay of guitar - cello- and recording venue is very satisfying to me. David Pritchard |
“Congratulations on the further improvement of your system with the second Omega E Mat. It is difficult to verbalize the improvement in a system as additional Mats are installed and then become stabilized after being in place for Two weeks. My audio systems are now more emotionally moving and stimulating.Trying to verbalize the why of this effect I will leave to others.” WOW! You don’t see that too much. Difficulty verbalizing the improvement to the sound and no attempt whatsoever to speculate how these things work. And he has eleven of them! 🙄 For anyone having difficulty expressing himself or identifying characteristics of sound you might consider consulting several sources of audiophile terminology, One such compendium of terms was developed by J. Gordon Holt. His book is found on Amazon here, https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Glossary-J-Gordon-Holt/dp/0962419141 Here is the link to the Stereophile magazine longish Glossy of Audiophile Terms, https://www.stereophile.com/content/sounds-audio-glossary-glossary and this list of audiophile terms from head-fi.org, https://www.head-fi.org/threads/describing-sound-a-glossary.220770/ |
David, As an E mat "superuser", your endorsement of the mat, both personally and professionally, carries considerable weight. I am looking forward to adding more mats over time--thanks for the encouraging reports of continued gains with each additional mat. Is there a point at which you would stop adding to a system? Wondering if there is a limit to the density of sound one room can accommodate. Joseph Freeman |
jafreeman: Congratulations on the further improvement of your system with the second Omega E Mat. It is difficult to verbalize the improvement in a system as additional Mats are installed and then become stabilized after being in place for Two weeks. My audio systems are now more emotionally moving and stimulating.Trying to verbalize the why of this effect I will leave to others. The cost of multiple Mats is considerable but not more than two or three upper tier Power Cords, one or two DACs, or a premium amplifier such as my Pass Labs INT-60. I am on the Board of Directors of El Paso Pro Musica whose artistic director is Zuill Bailey (three time Grammy Award winner in classical music). My passion in life is listening to music. My audio expenditures allow me to have a greater connection to the music I listen to and a greater connection to the artists who create the music. I think the Omega E Mats are an audio bargain. David Pritchard |
Listening to my second E Mat, placed Thursday between Richard Gray 240V/120V system transformer and Richard Gray 1200C front-end power supply, which supplies Wadia 861 SE/GNSC player that has one mat underneath. If there is a "noise floor", the bottom just dropped out, revealing even more information, formerly hidden behind and between other information. Nuances of percussion, keyboard fills and voice harmonies are popping out all across the deeper and wider soundscape. Worn-out cliches, yes, but how else to describe it? |
Theres the Katie we all know and love so dearly, ready to hurl insults . If you had said that in the first place then we might have had some clue what was whirling around in that head of yours instead of wondering what speeling mistake or grammar dysfunction you were trying to trip people up on now! Peace out...... |
@theaudiotweak thanks for the information. I have a dedicated power consumer unit and five separate spurs run lengths of about 10 m in 60 amp twin and earth and then terminated in individual 60 amp junction boxes in the workshop from which the 3m power chords ( some Sablon and Belden) pass through a hole in the wall to the listening room. What would be an estimate of the amount of TC I would need to paint everything? Many thanks for your advice. |
Well I have paid for 11 Omega E Mats. Six are currently in place and I am awaiting the additional 5. These are installed in 4 different systems. Two stereo systems, one video system, and one headphone system. I am impressed with the positive results they are bringing to the systems. David Pritchard From about 10 posts earlier so yes I would say that is exactly what he said. Lol |
@davidpritchard So you have $6589 invested in these mats total?? That is some serious coin by anybody's standards. I can only conclude that you truly believe they have a huge positive influence to have spent so much. Still waiting for Tim to release the minimees before I give them a whirl. Baby steps for me. |
Toetapaudio, I painted the conduit that is exposed above ground from an area transformer. The conduit then heads into my meter outside my house..also treated the output box and lead into my breaker panel box on the interior wall that is in my audio room. The meter and breaker panel back up to each other on a common wall. Inches of cable connect the two .. Noticed an improvement right away..A few weeks later I started with the E Mats..Full speed ahead from there. Tom |
@oregonpapa thanks for the reply. I did see the close up before, just would like to see an image of the complete mat if possible. @davidpritchard did you leave the Bybee in place? Ozzy said he removed the Bybee’s on his consumer unit because they conflicted. I’ve dropped a line to Tim at PPT asking if he will ship to the U.K. Guys with experience of TC, have you tried painting the outside of the power cables and mains cables from the consumer unit? What was the result? Thanks for your time. |
Ozzy: My Oppo 203 Blue Ray player has been carefully tuned with a Synergistc Research Blue fuse, multiple ECT's inside, Total Contact on all capacitors, chips, and pin connectors. After this was all broken in and stabilized, I added one Bybee IQSE inside the player and located it directly above the digital circuit board. This benefited the audio and visual quality only one small "click" in improvement. I have since placed an Omega E Mat on top of the player. There has been a greater additional improvement in audio and video. The E Mat caused an immediate change but really began to excel after 12 days of being in the same location. David Pritchard |
