+1 for Stereo 5. I have a lot of small companies as clients and it is a struggle for many of them to make ends meet. A negative word in the community can have devastating results for them. Audigon is a community. Having said that, I use the Audiogon forums to get information. If you have used a product, I like to hear your opinion whether it is positive or negative.By purchasing and using a product you have earned the right to express your opinion whether it is good or bad. What I find disconcerting are the individuals who have never tried a product denigrating said product, the companies who make it and those who try it. I like to tweak my system and I have found some tweaks that were surprisingly effective and others that didn’t do anything for my system. Some companies might have a product or two that work great in my system and some of theirs did nothing. If you have an open mind and are willing to try something different be it food, volunteering , traveling etc. you might be very surprised with what you learn. I don’t know how many times I have said to myself, I wish I knew about or tried this sooner. As that noted philosopher Forrest Gump said “Life is like a bunch of chocolates”. |
A negative word? How about scores of negative words? Over time, for whatever reason, there have been those who without trying a product, try to dissuade others from buying these products with their over the top, uninformed, or misinformed opinions. These are the miscreants that in the past I have referred to as "destroyers," "looters" and "arsonists." I believe those are apt words to describe these evil-doers. Frank |
Have you seen what it’s like out there, guys? Do you ever actually leave the house? Everybody just yells and screams at each other. Nobody’s civil anymore! Nobody thinks what it’s like to be the other guy. You think skeptics ever think what it’s like to be someone like us? To be somebody but themselves? They don’t. They think that we’ll just sit down and take it like good little boys! That we won’t werewolf and go wild! 🤡 Let me get this straight, you think that insulting those guys is funny? Well, I do. I’m tired of pretending it’s not. Comedy is subjective. 🤡 |
geoffkait ... Living in Southern California, I see the nature of these uncivilized apes and their simian spouses every time I get on the local freeway. Sometimes I find myself wishing that I was a Highway Patrol officer with the ability to make myself and my cruiser invisible ... then reappear just as I'm on their asses, then turn the red lights and siren on. In Southern California, livin' the dream. Frank |
I have found, in my audio system, that there are places E-Mats work and don't work (or negatively work). If I can tell the difference in effect, they must do something. I have a dozen and find them most positively effective placed on power panels and isolation transformers. Next on my tube pre-amp and phono pre-amp. I have found that they negatively impact the sound placed on my new DAC and have no apparent effect on my large mono-block tube amps. There is a limit in what I can spend at this time, so I haven't purchased the gate. The Stop-Its are reasonably priced which are my next purchase. SR's small products (fuses, duplex outlets and HFTs) have been a huge success in my system and room at affordable cost. There Black Box was a failure wherever I placed it in the room. From the above experience, I doubt anyone would find me believing in snake oil or having human frailty of emotional facilities which blind me to the truth. The truth is in my experience. Other audiophiles will find the same or different truths as each audio system and room are different; hence, trial and error method in the use of tweaks. 90 day money back guarantee from PPT and 30 day from SR certainly make it enticing to try their audio tweaks. |
lwin What I find disconcerting are the individuals who have never tried a product denigrating said product, the companies who make it and those who try it. Which is my point exactly Iwin. Some of the replies to my posts as you've mentioned above all have the same theme of "They're right, I'm wrong, they're smart, I'm dumb..." And if they shout louder, or post more frequently, then it must be true and surely I will be enlightened. I'm not enamoured by the abuse and continued denial of others' experiences, as though we have been tricked, are foolish and are willfully trying to deceive others. |
fleschler ... You’ll have to come up soon to hear what The Gate, the Stop-Its, and the new Omega *Plus* Mats are doing. If you were to apply the *Plus* Mats to your Legacy Focus and Signature III speakers, you wouldn’t want to leave home. Not even to replenish your food supply. :-) More Eva Cassidy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzLd2MDAHK8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGnfqRR509M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXBNlApwh0c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWvPOJOYqGA Frank |
Frank, if you hear my system now, you probably wouldn't want to leave either. The new room and new DAC are superb additions. It all adds up to more listening pleasure. Last night I heard the very rare Grieg and Saint Saens 1903 and 1904 piano recordings on Marston CDs. My wife said that there are some people who would appreciate the great pianism despite the sound limitations since they sold at least 700 CD sets. If it wasn't the the new DAC and room, the sound would have been flat and lifeless. |
I can currently view Nirvana. May not be attainable, but I know it's there... Macbook Pro flicking through random tracks on the drive through Audirvana. USB adaptor throwing NBA on the tv screen (my other addiction). Really enjoying the Omega+ Emat. Music is even more enjoyable since putting it in my fuse box. Wondering what The Gate would do for my system. Would it even work on 240v? |
sgordon1 ... I have both The Gate and the new Omega + mats in the circuit breaker box. Adding the mats was like supercharging The Gate. The mats were set up against the breaker switches, and the door was closed. The new Omega + mats, in combination with The Gate, lowers the distortion even further than The Gate and the original two Omega mats that were in the breaker box. BUT ... the *Plus* mats have their own characteristics. They seem to expose the tonality of instruments in a very positive way. It is hard to describe it, but you'll know its there. Just closer to real instruments playing before you. The same can be said for the human voice. I've experienced that same phenomenon no matter where I place the *Plus* mats. My latest experiments with the new mats have been placing them on the speakers in line with the drivers. You've most likely read the results of that in the threads. Big improvements to be had there. If I had to number the most effective placements (in my system) for the *Plus* mats, I'd categorize it like this: 1. In the circuit breaker box. 2..On the outside of the speakers in line with the drivers. 3. Under the power conditioner. 4. Under the electronics ... amp, pre-amp, phono stage and then the CD player or DAC. Frank |
I just got these, and will be writing a full review soon, but yes they definitely work on the breaker panel. My system is rather unusual in being run 4 ga off a 240v circuit, Audio Consulting step down transformer to 120v, then 4 ga direct into my Frankenstein power conditioner. Still, with all of that, one Omega Mat on the breaker panel dropped the noise floor, improved inner detail and- well wait for the review! |

Oh look, another disparaging comment from a member with no experience of the products. I love these crusading ’the earth is flat’ guys like wesleyhead. So profound. Their "I’m right, and you’re delusional..." has me questioning everything in my life; not just are those sounds/changes I hear real? Is blue really blue? The world we experience is a construct. My truth is unique, as are my interpretations of all stimuli. Our experiences of the Omega+ mats in our systems is remarkably similar. Spooky. Or conspiracy... NB: ... in our systems... If these products did not have an effect, those who have direct experience would be less glowing in their appraisals. May Santa gift these people with a dash of open mindedness and a little humility these holidays. |
Gluppy. i most assuredly am a class act as you correctly state. Just not where you are concerned though. Your constant pointless whining and self indulgent posts are enough to make the Pope curse! all imho of course. That being said, I wish no ill will to anyone and maybe I was a little harsh there. So merry Christmas to you and your family! Carry on chaps. |
