One box solution

Hello Everyone,

I finally hit a wall with my health, I am almost 72 and have to downsize and move to a facility. It’s a very nice place but a lot smaller and my current set up can’t go so it’s all going in to storage.

I am looking for a one box solution, the Naim Uniti Atom comes to mind but I am looking for better if that’s possible. My budget is 15k or less and has to have a remote, I don’t get around so good. Actually need bookshelf type speaker suggestions too…so 15k or less for speakers and 15k or less for a all in one intergrated…I will only stream so the box needs to have a Dac and everything built in, airplay, and Quboz…maybe the Uniti Atom is the best solution but was hoping for something better…thanks..

Considering your situation the NAD M10 is a great option. Compact and a big screen. Sounds great!

Oh, no, you just got all that new gear and was so excited about it!!! I really enjoyed our listening session with your old Forte's.

From the volume you listen at, and what you listen to, think just a good set of powered speakers is all you need, like the KEF's, but I know. you like horns. So maybe an Accuphase/Luxman integrated with some baby horn speakers?

You know I'm right down the street from you, let me know if you need/want any help moving stuff, or getting rid of stuff. As someone who is also going through relationship stuff, I totally understand.

For heaven's sake get over there and check what sort of sound isolation you're going to have. Sounds good with the separate bedroom and all but still likely sharing a wall with someone (or two!).  Whether or not that works out I would definitely plan on adding a top shelf headphone setup to this if it were me.  You're likely going to be the only guy in there with a nice audio system. They may not be used to that!

Ugg.. sorry to hear.

I had a Naim in an apartment and it’s ok. Read as I think better can be had.

Lyngdorf 3400 yup sure and for 15K there are lot’s of speakers new or barely used.

Dutch & Dutch speakers are compatible with high-resolution streaming services like Qobuz. They pack a punch and have room correction too. The room may need that.

Dartzeel LHC 208 (First one) and not the MarkII(26K) could be just the ticket...has remote.

@mswale Hello thanks for the offer, everything is done I am out of here…going to greener pastures….

I would suggest considering the Aurender AP20 as an all in one solution. I am very impressed with mine. In another room I have a pass labs X350 amp so we may have somewhat similar taste in sound. List price on the AP20 is $22k but you could probably get one pretty close, but slightly over, your budget. On another note, I have 12 zones of NAD distributed around my house and am happy with it for that purpose (in cieling speakers - casual listening). I was excited to hear the M10 but just didn’t like it very much at the store demo. Lot’s of different variables go into this stuff as we all know but wanted to share my experience in case it is of any value to you. Good luck with the move.

Spend money on the speakers like Wilson Tune Tots. For the all in one NAIM is a good choice.

Check out the AVM CS8.3, a true all-in-one Class D with a tube input stage. It has a DAC, streamer, and built-in CD player.

+1 for Aurender AP20

I had an A20 for a while and it was a fantastic unit.  Aurender's build quality is top notch as well.  I did a quick search and there are not any on the used market now.  It also has a headphone option....that would most likely keep you happy for many years to come.

Actually I would recommend receiver with streaming, good headphone amp and pair of high end headphones. This way you can even listen at night and control system from an iPad or another tablet. Using tablet as a central device will also allow you to watch movies or youtube, etc.

Say, $4K headphones like Meze Elite or Focal Utopia, Pass or Denafrips headphone amp at around $2-3K and, streamer and active speakers like Dynaudio.

I have the Naim Uniti Atom and am very happy with it.  After looking at numerous other units at Axpona last year, I settled on the Naim.  One big selling factor was the Naim software/ap.  I found it very easy to use, intuitive, so no learning curve.

All in one… Dutch and Dutch 8C

A solid “A” rating in Stereophile’s best of

I believe they have a rep Gabriel) who lives near Seattle.

The link below is a photo of my nearfield system. I tried to send a picture, but that didn't work for me, I don't know how. Anyway, Silverfox, you might like a nearfield setup. It sounds better than most people would imagine. I'm using Monsoon MM-700 speakers. They are plannar magnetic with a cone driver for low frequencies.

It's so nice to lay down on the couch with the iPad and good sounds. The system is attached to a shelf which is attached to the back of the couch.

There is a story about a man who was worse off than you were. He spent a decade or two and about one million dollars creating the ultimate stereo and listening room. It had only one seat in the ultimate sweet spot so only one person could listen to this system. He burdened his family, costing them their free time helping him build the system. When he finished, he came down with ALS and has just under a year to live.

If such a dream system has only one seat possible to approach perfection, he would have been better off using headphones and having time and energy to hear the music over the quality of the system. Even in live concert halls, the acoustics varies from sometimes arbitrary sound qualities.

This is why you should put priority on headphones.

Dutch & Cutch 8C-good choice.

I'm 69 and have gone the opposite of the $1+ million system, creating a room and system that one can enjoy on a 10' wide sofa, standing, laying down on the floor.  It is the speaker that accomplishes most of that, the Von Schweikert VR9 SE Mk2.  I will never downsize and upsized just 5 years ago which helped store my 3,000 books and 18,000 of my 61,100 recordings (not in the usual living areas).

A two way monitor with out of the way powered subs would provide a potentially great sound with superior imaging.  So many to choose from.  Used high end integrated and a small great sounding Topping D70s DAC and equally low cost streamer can provide you with ample digital music (although I prefer CDs, and a small, inexpensive Shanling ET3 transport would be great).

First off, sorry to hear of your situation.

Second, that is a nice system you've assembled. I agree that I'd find someone to buy/sell it, you, and donate the cash if you wish......you'll make a bigger contribution to humanity that way

Third, look at the Dutch & Dutch 8C all in one speakers (not the Studio version), built in streamer (Roon or Spotifty right now, Qobuz/Tidal coming), built in DAC, built in amps, built in DSP if you want, excellent full range speakers with built in subwoofers, and connections for other devices if you wish.

Best of luck to you

OP,I HIGHLY suggest that you have a good, long look at Advance Paris Audio..They have everything you could possibly need including Streamer/USB DAC/excellent headphone & a few models are Tube/SS hybrids!!!
I can attest to their superb sound, ergonomics & build quality + you will save about $12,000.00 off your max budget!!!

Hi @silverfoxvtx1800 - Sorry to hear of the change in circumstances.

I was going to suggest you tag @tomic601 and then I saw his reply! I knew he would have good suggestions. A good man.

re: Your Meitner MA3 DAC >>>> I would be interested in discussing that with you!

Best of luck.
