Question regarding adding a poweramp to an integrated amp Just get a new integrated. Time marches on and those times change. There are a passel of integrated now that make the separates an expensive afterthought. Also, then you'd still have the preamp outs for subs should you want them.
Upgrading from Dual 704 to Technics 1300G – Worth it for Sound Quality? You will not believe the difference.
Why not more wireless connections? There are times when convenience is useful. It is never paramount. I don't stream, I've got more LP's and CD's than I can ever listen to. When not listening intently I prefer as much silence as I can get, and that includes the AC and the roofto...
KEF R7 META There’s one BS response with an amp recommendation. No one’s perfect. Anyway, I checked and I’ve got those Db ratings way to high. 65-70 is just fine. Didn’t know what I was about there.
KEF R7 META I neglected to add: they come alive when reasonably cranked up. I would say at least 80 Db, maybe more. Quiet listening not their forte, but with minimal neighbors, not an issue here.
KEF R7 META My pair has the titanium-painted finish with the red coax drivers and look pretty sharp. I had the LS50's in a townhouse earlier and brought them with me when I moved into a bigger space. The LS50's (not Metas) sounded good here and threw a rema...
DIY Speaker Kits, a good idea? You can get ready made crossovers from Madison if that part bothers you. I did that 20 years ago when building a pair of Dick Olsher's Basszillas. The top was a large acrylic sheet I had made for open baffle, a Lowther DX4 midrange and Chinese r...

Incredible Audiophile Imaging -- at a Concert! @ghdprentice Thanks for that post, which really made me think. One thing irritating to me is the concept of audio engineers deciding for me what I want to hear. It's one thing to be sitting in your home with different parts of the keyboard spr...
Long Run of Speaker Cabling If that were me I would get the Blue Jeans Cable option or make my own, then also go to Cable Company for a set of Transparent or whatever you choose. Try both. If I did that and liked the Transparent I'd use that as a biwire on the top and pu...
What is your vinyl commitment? Techics 1200G with Hana Umami Blue and Black Swan phono pre from Austin Audio Works you're looking at about $10K. This doesn't include, of course, the Degritter, the Stack Audio record "weight" and mat, along with alignment tools from Wally. Goe...
Leave it on? I have a Pass Labs integrated, class AB, and they recommend leaving it on. There's a mute button but it doesn't appear to be a standby. It still stays warm.
Anyone familiar with Stack Audio Stabiliser and / or their turntable mat? I should mention that the mat's sleeve it arrived in said a record spindle weight of up to 500 gm is ok (my F/R is over that). Doesn't matter as I'm leaving the Stabiliser on there.....
Anyone familiar with Stack Audio Stabiliser and / or their turntable mat? My Stack Audio record mat came. I've now compared it to the Oyaide, using the Stabiliser with both. The Serene Surface Mat is 3mm silicone, with 4 small nibs spaced on the record support surface. There's a nickel-sized circular cutout on the und...
which turntable or how to convert to balanced phono setup? I’m being simplistic here, but if you have RCA outs with a separate ground wire into a phono pre with a balanced/nonbalanced switch does that work? Or does it matter whether you have a MC or MM cartridge? |
