In need of a new bluray player lost without oppo now what ?

Just want to spend in the $500.00 area for a 4k Blu-ray player, I had an Oppo 103 and want to upgrade to 4k.

Any thoughts on Panasonic DP UB820 player or the Samsung UBD M9500.

A recommendation would be appreciated.

thank you

Yeah Oppo was the deal. Modded one can match players 2-3 times the price. Which you could do for whatever budget you have in mind. Very good way to go. So that's one option.

Better one I think is a set of Synergistic ECT https://highend-electronics.com/products/synergistic-research-ect-electronic-circuit-transducer?_pos... for $295 just one of these improved my video about to about the level of 4k. Just one. The set is 5. Video becomes clearer yet smoother and takes on an almost 3D appearance. Audio improves as well. I've never put more than one on my video source, the rest are on my amp. Super easy to move around, works on just about everything, and 30 day total satisfaction guarantee. If you don't like em, cost next to nothing to ship em back.
yup, millercarbon must has some sort of profit interest in Synergistic Research.
not sure if I'd go Samsung as they no longer make 4K Players?
I have one from a few years ago that is working fine but..???
Thanks guys , auxiput, i did'nt get "non AG classified" sorry, .but sounds good, thanks.
Pioneer is where it's at right now, but I don't know if they have a less expensive version of their 1K model.

axmeman,

the reason I am considering the Samsung UBD M9500 player is because of my bright family room I decided to get the Samsung q90 tv series.

I am replacing my Samsung plasma tv for 4k.

Because the Panasonic has Dolby vision and the Samsung TV doesn’t . I thought that the Samsung player paired with a Samsung TV both support HDR10 might be beneficial in some ways.

thank you

I'd get one of the Sony high end Blue ray-multi disc players I got one last year and I'm quite pleased with it, there are a few models avail in your price range. The one i got doesn't have a DAC in it though but there is the next level one that does so you have some flexibility there. If your feeding a HT system that has a DAC in it then you can save some money there.

UBP-X800 is similar to the one I got last year but with audio out as well as digital. HDR as well.

Mine has very good picture quality ( 70" 4k TV).

The new top of the line Pioneer Elite (can be bought for $900.00) is the BluRay player I have my eye on. It is much better than paying the $2-3.5K that is being asked for the Oppo 205 which is a good player, but not as great as a lot of people think.  I would never buy a modded player as the technology is forever changing

stereo5,

I've read some great reviews one on sound & vision magazine for the

Pioneer udp lx500 which is $999.00.

twoleftear recommended Pioneer as well.

I’m leaning on the Panasonic DP UB820 it had some pretty good reviews.

thanks for the help?

I have talked to a few guys that have the pioneer and they all spoke very favorably of it. A couple of them said the sound and build quality blows away the Oppo.
It is supposed to.  To be honest, the system that I placed it in doesn’t have a 4 K display.
I recently purchased the Panasonic DP-UB820-K, and I love it! I don’t have any Blu-Ray discs to play on it, yet, but the up-conversion to HiDef that it performs on DVDs works beautifully.  Also, good quality YouTube videos, streamed via the player's wifi capability, look remarkably good as well.

I should mention also that I don’t have a 4K or even a flat panel TV. The TV I use is one of the last and best of the CRT-based sets, a 30 inch HiDef Sony KD-30XS955. It provides an HDMI input, which is what I connect the player to.

Good luck. Regards,

Coming from having Oppo for the last 8 years about, it was difficult to pick a player that I would be happy with, After tons of reviews, I bought the Panasonic DP-UB820-K and I have to say so far I’m pretty happy with it.
For music I activated the Analog stereo on Audio in the set up menu and was able to get analog stereo witch I like.
also bought the Samsung qled 65" q90r tv, the two work great so far so good.
thanks again guys!
The Sony UBP-X1100ES was my second choice, I saw the reviews they are very good.
thanks
The reason why I went with the Panasonic is because it supports HDR+10 and the Sony does'nt, the Samsung tv supports HDR
