Active, makes the most sense. If the system performs to expectation and beyond, the cost is soon forgotten.
Enjoy
Finally arrived !!
My journey has come to an end and I could not be happier.
I am lucky to own now two systems, the "big" one and the "small" one from Crimson/Tocaro.
While the "small" system has obviously not the capabilities of the "big" one, I would not miss anything getting old with just the "small" one, it is THAT good, and the "big" one is hard to describe other than it plays music (vs. making sounds).
(I am particularly fuzzy with boomy bass and shrill heights and mids not sounding like the instruments/voices. The Crimson/Tocaro has to be experienced to be believed. And yes, I heard it all - all the big and "mighty" hi-end brands - and nothing plays music like my combos).
This is the latest gen Crimson 880 and the latest gen Tocaro 50F
The last picture are Crimson 640eIV and Tocaro 40F
The Dac is a Mytek and the current source is a HQPlayer based on Win Server 2019 (running on 15w) and the NAA also Server 2019 at 5w, all with good power supplies and some UpTone goodies.
(While I am not active on this forum, you find my on audiophilestyle as mops911 ;-) )
If you say so.

I dont mind about the system ... I can replace it at very lowest cost for almost the same S.Q. with 6 months research ... ... A claim bit rude perhaps but i learn a lot in the last years ...i can apologize for saying that and i do it , but i cannot apologize for thinking it ... I want the house for sure and i like dog ...Very beautiful house if i judge by the room ...But i guess i cannot afford it ... 😁 😊 |
@total111, very impressive. |
@stereo5 apologies for not being clearer. The amps are Crimson 880. Did I forget to say that the people behind Crimson and Tocaro are not only very nice but also real geniuses? There is no adjustement necessary whatsoever. I push ON on the Crimson 710 preamp and the 880s turn on in sequence. One after the other. And then only one volume button. That’s it. British hifi at its best. Redux to max. and 50 years of maturing. Yes this system plays against anything at any price and is simple to use. Worth every penny. But lots of pennies…. 😉😉

@total111, thank you for clarifying. I first thought it was a new Naim piece. What is the brand of the amps and how do you control the level of each amp since it’s crossover-less? You must have had to do endless tweaking of each driver level. |
Very nice systems @total111 :-)
|
There seems only one person genuinely curious ;-) The 12 boxes are 6 mono-blocks with each its own Power supply. The amps have a neat feature to "DC couple" them, which removes the cap in the output and which adds indeed another jump in reproduction quality. Each mono delivers ~175w into 8ohm. |
See the picture above TV? Thats a Seftel https://www.seftelgallery.com These both systems make me regularly cry in a sense that they bring emotions out. How can it get better, every second I listen I am just amazed how REAL is sounds. Thats not a feeling which wanes...but I know from previous systems, that it is never good enough, like a drug...but as the title says, I arrived! |
Me too ... And my system cost is lower than yours ... 😉
I am active on this forum and my components are indicated in my virtual system page ...
Why are you happy ? Is it because you bought the right component and because of the synergy ? Or is it more ? In my case there is more than synergy to explain my minimal acoustic satisfaction threshold passage ... Anyway.... Congratulations ! Very beautiful room indeed! I appreciate that you love dog too ... |
