Core Power Technologies


Does anyone know, is Core Power Technologies still around? I was considering purchasing (2) Ec1200’s but don’t want to be in a holding pattern for the next year. Are they or (Mark) still in existence? What’s the lowdown or suggestion of comparable item.

I have no idea how old this thread is, but Underwood hifi are the new owners of core power technologies. I recently bought an equicore 600 4 outlet model(I have only 2 sources- a rega p3 and a rega apollo fed into a rega dac r) The product has made a tremendous improvement in my system. Blacker backgrounds and signifigently lower noise floor. The 00 also has added a new overall sound quality to both the p3 and the apollo. I am extremely pleased and it only cost $599. You do have to purchase a power cord to plug into the wall. Underwoodhifi.com carries the full core power line. I have never had any problems doing business with them.

What is the latest status with Core Tech? We ordered 2 units of 1200 & 2 units 1800 but have not heard from them since last year.
Agreed, Walter has always done exactly what he said he would do and has a very good track record ;-)
I actually have more confidence that Walter will make all the out of pocket customers right than when Mark was running the show, sad to say.

I think anybody who has ever dealt with Walter will know he is a man of his word, I have good dealings with him in the past.

This is a good opportunity for Underwood Hifi, Inc and I decided to purchase CPT as I have done very well with these products. I know the owners well, and I believe a few words are in order. 

 

Mark had attempted to sell the company three times and had actual deals twice since April. He did the very best he could do to close these deals. How do I know, I know because in each instance I spoke with the “potential buyers” as I was the largest retailer outside of the factory since its inception.

 

I also know that due to a mis-fired product introduction and failed public-beta of Deep Core here on Audiogon the company had to close down. Everyone involved felt horrible, as did I. Once I reintroduce the new Deep Core it will be an even better product and unlike the previous owners you won’t hear much about it until they are ready to ship. It will be a full 1800 watt unit at introduction. I have spoken with the Engineers and Product Manufacturer that were/are being used, and Deep Core will be a great product when introduced. 

 

The previous potential buyers worked hard to get these deals done but ultimately, they did not fund and that’s when I stepped in. I will run Core Power with the same integrity and business practices that I have used for Underwood Hifi, Emerald physics and LSA. I will be careful and diligent. 

 

Mark has provided a list of everyone that he owes product or refunds to. I will be in contact with each of you directly via email or if necessary, telephone. I purchased Assets ONLY, but it is Mark and Lynn’s desire, as it is mine, to get everyone their full measure and the products they paid for as soon as I can.  The previously failed sales attempts cost Mark and Lynn everything. I know this personally.

Good move. This is what we all should do whether or not you are owed a refund. He gives bad name to this exciting hobby. I am recovering from stroke and music is my relaxation. I have never for once cried on this forum how Mark is depriving me of my source of happiness. In the past on telephone conversations I begged him to return my original power cable because of the unique amphenol connector. If he has done that, I was ready to kiss the cpt300 that I paid for goodbye. Always full of apologies and very convincing. Since he has decided to show that he has no heart, I will go to any length with him until he is taken out of society and put where he belongs. Never met a person that always use his health to get sympathy while at the same ripping honest people out of their hard earned monies. Fellows go read all his postings and you will come to the conclusion that he is a Class A con man. He has no heart and deserves no pity. At least not from me. He is trying to buy time so that after a while most of us will give up and move on. Not this time Mark. Your cup runeth over this time buddy. The dance just started.

I was promised a refund and an email last Monday. Nothing. This cancer thing is another ruse. I have cancer and I am still alive and doing as much as I can in a day. This should not stop him (or Kemper Holt (KH007) from communicating to everyone being owed a refund. When are we getting our money? I am in communication with a couple of US authorities State and Federal authorities to progress my claim.

I was speaking with Mark via phone about my 1800 and the additional power cables I ordered. In that conversation he apologized and said he was having health issues and had been in the hospital having testing done and was hoping it wasn’t cancer, but followed up by saying there was a history of cancer in the family. 

Next thing I know the communication completely dropped out, and then I hear the company is being sold. 

I truley hope he just decided it was it was time to call it quits and isn’t fighting a major health issue. 

@twoleftears I recall Mark selling off some B stock 1800’s having newly installed transformers. So there could be some truth to the transformer QC. 
Or a transformer might hum if it's being starved for current. you could measure your incoming voltage and if it's high that I could be part of the problem. 
Many transformers will hum under certain conditions.  Really good quality ones, produced under high levels of QC, usually don't.  A lot is in the QC.  If the winding is a little "off", an individual example of a brand with a generally good reputation may still hum.  I think that's why they thought they could solve the problem by sending you a replacement--if only they had.
@ celander and anybody else for that matter. Has anyone opened up one of these units? I did!! In that little black box is a balanced transformer and a breaker. That’s it! No electronics or fancy crap. So if it’s a design issue, maybe that’s why? Thoughts??
No properly designed power conditioner should hum. That one hums in response to a curling iron being used merely indicates faulty design or a manufacturing defect.

This is a huge help because I was thinking it has to be a use related issue being the fact it’s so sporadic. I’ll have to pay attention to what is being used next time it happens. Odd though that a dedicated line would still give this type of issue. Maybe this is where the Deep Core would come in to play to filter this type of noise out. Thank you much

  My 1200 also used to hum off and on then I figured out it seemed to only hum when a curling iron was in use. I discovered that it was indeed the curling iron and now I know it  never hums unless the curling iron is on. Now that I know what it is it is no big deal.  It never seemed to degrade the sound much if any  at all .though. If not a curling iron it could be some other odd thing hooked up in your electrical system somewhere. I hope this may be the case and you can track down the cause.

I respectfully ask you to show me/us a proof of your statement.
I also have an 1800 that up purchased a year and a half ago. Very sporadically mine will hum, but not much. I also contacted Mark immediately and let him know. I too was promised a replacement unit. I never got it and then we immediately went into the Deep Core saga. Anyway that sucks for you and I hope it works out for you. I purchased a 300 watt unit from Paul after the disaster. Mark assured me this unit would be a perfect for my integrated tube amp. Well, my amp draws 2.9 amps and the unit is capable of 2.5 amps. The circuit breaker keeps tripping. I guess I should’ve researched it a bit more. At this point I’m going to order a larger transformer and breaker. Anyone have any info on the balanced transformer as in mfr??
I have an 1800 I purchased directly through Mark. I was in contact with him right away after receiving it to let him know that it hums quite loudly intermittently, like you can hear it 30 feet away, and he assured me a replacement would be sent right away. I'm guessing that was 4 - 6  months ago now. Still waiting, contacted Mark multiple times and the unit was always just about ready to ship. Was contact by the transition team to confirm I was owed a replacement, I told them yes, never heard another thing from them. That had to be at least 2 months ago now. I also had 2 other power cords I was waiting on. I've pretty much given up at this point.

I know Mark is having health issues, and I truly hope it all works out well as it possibly can for him. Relative to the transition team, the complete lack of communication is just unprofessional and I have a very hard time imagining myself being a core customer in the future.
@amg56. Trust your instincts. Mark and his minions are monitoring this thread 24/7. I doubt there is any follow-on entity. Scam.

This is crazy, I paid Mark extra to change my deep core order to an equi 1800 back in May and have been getting the run-around ever since. He even gave a story about how he wanted the extra money to buy a mother's day gift for his wife and that he had equi 1800 units ready to ship.

To find out they are taking new orders and shipping while simultaneously ignoring mine is pretty infuriating.
