I just purchased a brand new Equi=Core 1800 from Paul (Mark's Grandson) and everything went well with the transaction. I sent PayPal payment on 8/1/18 and he shipped the same day and sent me a tracking number. He said that his Grandma (Mark's wife) had just finished building and boxing the unit the day before.. I received it on Monday and it was brand new and perfect as stated. It's in my system right now breaking in and sounds amazing. I was skeptical pulling the trigger on this purchase after reading all the recent posts regarding the issues people are having with Mark and CPT. I was also concerned about buying a product from a company that is currently in limbo and may or may not be in business in the future to support the product should I ever have a problem with it. Before I sent payment I called Paul and we discussed my concerns which helped me relax a little bit but I was still very nervous when I hit that send payment button on the PayPal site. The price was really good and he included a free Super Stroke power cord which I think was normally a $99 upgrade with the purchase of an 1800. I feel for all the people who prepaid for Deep Core units and never received the product or a refund. Hopefully the sale of CPT will go through and the new owners will honor these previous commitments to everyone's satisfaction. |
@lak I googled RMAF as a disease and came up dry. The closest disease appears to be RMSF (Rockey Mountain Spotted Fever, caused by a tick, and can result in serious complications including death if left untreated. @klh007 This last post includes a not-so-veiled threat from Mark regarding using his lawyer to harrass folks who complain about him. Seems to me you should not be relaying such content to this community when Mark himself refuses do so. This community is moderated. Mark should address his concerns to them rather than here if he feels posts are unkind to him or otherwise false. |
Mark has asked me to post this for him; Dear Audiogon Community
The sale of Core Power Tech LLC is about to Close. I am of course sorry this took the time that it did.
I have heard from several people about a post that was made by one of you that claimed I have 10’s of thousands of inventory and what about this for refunds.
Well, this is the entire purpose of selling this inventory before transfer. I’ve also sold off some camera and audio equipment that was mine purposely. I’ve made several shipments of 300’s to those that were happy to exchange their Deep Core early adopter dollars for these. I also started paying some of the refunds myself last week. I have paid several of these where people requested refunds instead of product. Most are waiting for Deep Core etc. – but those that wanted refunds I am doing (myself) up to the Close of the sale. Post sale close, the new owners will be doing this for us. They are just as vested as I am.
I paid some refunds last week. Sadly one refund did not clear my account as I took a Cashiers Check for 1980 dollars for my Leica Camera gear that was fraudulent. I apologize to the one person whose check did not clear (GJ) – that has been remedied in my bank account. I will continue to clear the refunds that have been requested and Bev at cptstatus is almost done with the verification process that the new owners requested. We are finally getting it all wrapped up.
My lawyer is a good guy but a few are about to find out what a bulldog he can be when false or misleading information is posted. Good luck to those that feel safe enough to say whatever they want. They probably think this is safe harbor given my own Scarlet Letter – well it’s not.
I have appreciated all of the e-mails and calls. I’ve invited a friend to come and visit me after my surgery for RMAF – he reads and posts here so he may chose to reply, or not. My point is last time I went through this people said some stuff that was just wrong. I DID have my surgery then just as I will now.
We will make it through this process and get on with life. The new owners are really good people and out in front will be Kemper Holt which most of you know. I hope for great days for us all…
Best wishes,
Mark |
You know, its time to vent a bit. All through the process of the dream of the “Deep Core”, I too had money paid out to Mark. I spoke with several of you via messaging when I was becoming skeptical of the whole thing. I could never figure out the loyalty and encouraging words every time Mark posted something on this forum which IMO, his words dug him deeper into the land of bs. There is no doubt Mark is a super nice guy and he has nice products. Unfortunately he has health issues as well. Now back to the loyalty part. What was with that? It was almost like a cult lol!! Now i’m reading many of you who were the ones sticking up for Mark are now butt hurt because he has a lot of your money and you have nothing to show for it. How could you not see this coming? Mark promptly refunded my money once I felt this was a plane flying at 50kft with no propulsion. This is just my opinion, but I really think you should have suspected this outcome and I’m surprised you’re so upset. The writing was all over this forums wall. |
There is no shame in doing your 110% to see a dream come true. The pity is that if we had known upfront what the Deep Core was, how it was too function, how much it may cost and when it was to be available, more of us may have sat and waited. In all honesty, I was prepared to wait because this man's dream, engineering skill and future was in the product that was "on sale" 12 months too soon. CPT may have made it if honest communication was on show, and a suggestion of crowd funding could have seen the product to fruition. It's one of the American dreams that got away, for now. With new backing, funding, QA and organisation, the Equi=Core in all its permutations, and Deep Core will be great products. I am sorry Mark, I couldn't wait longer. Cheers. A. |
@amg56 I wish you well in health. There is a new audiogon member pajjohnson who claims to possess brand new NOS units of some CPT products obtained from Mark. The listing was posted within a couple hours of the klh007 post above. Since that post doesn’t identify who would be listing CPT products, it’s unclear whether the listing is related to what Mark offered for sale in his posting via khl007. |
Very well said Adrian, nice and diplomatic. I get the impression that the DEEP CORE was the item that deep six the company. If had stuck with the Equicores which I have been very impressed with my 1800 it may have been a different story altogether. Too little development, too little information but way too many promises! Just my view from the outside. Wishing Mark and Lynn all the best |
Hi all concerned, My correspondence with Mark today differs with the post above. I will post only one paragraph within the email so you have a chance to evaluate your positions individually: " The 1800’s are ready to go - the Deep Cores are in great working order (new units to all specs) but again... they want to control this and take it out of my hands." The two messages do not quite agree. This misinformation is why I have formally asked for a full refund. My order, made with all information declared on the CPT website, was, and is still not possible. I will consider the products again in the future, but just now I need the deposit made for my own medical costs. I wish Mark, Lynn, Kemper and the new owners the very best and hopefully I will be in contact later in the year to appraise the DC and E=Q products, which, again, I believe will be great. Mark, you tried your best but the job was too big for you to do on your own. Get well soon. A. |
DEAR KEMPER
MAY I PLEASE ASK YOU TO POST THIS ENTIRE NOTE ON THE AUDIOGON FORUMS.
In keeping with our Lawyer’s request I’m still not going to be posting directly to the forum. Chris has asked me to stay away and just concentrate on the close which will surely be this coming week now that all parties are back home. I did however feel a short update is in order given the time this has taken.
By now most people have learned that we ended up taking the second offer we received. Dan and Modwright were generous with the first offer – but the second is much better for us both near term as well as on into the future. This probably ended up costing all of us an extra 3 to 4 weeks, but everyone has worked hard to get it done.
The very nice lady from cptstatus@outlook.com has returned from her Summer Holiday, so e-mails double checking anything owed to anyone will resume now until completed. I would estimate that she is 50 to 70% done. If anyone wants to double check anything they may do so by contacting me at:
303.594.7586 or corepowertech@outlook.com
Forums speculation does not equal answers… enough said there.
We are grateful to everyone for their invested time, money and patience. I realize there has been too much of a time lapse here – but I just didn’t have a mechanism for going quicker. I will be sending some private notes after our Closing, but beyond that I’m pretty much done.
We have started shipping E=C 300’s (50’s and 150’s as well) and the like to those that wanted these instead of Deep Core. I have roughly a dozen 300’s and maybe 5 or 6 300’s and 50’s in old chassis styles. I’m going to post these and they roughly 20 or so Super Strokes left in stock. Please contact me if interested. They can ship with 24 hours notice.
More soon – thanks for posting this Kemper

@gdnrbob, Bob, Other than this, I don’t know of any other small businesses behaving like this. Regarding health issues,Mark has had ‘health’ issues since the first day I met him. Currently, I am dealing with my wife’s cancer and my mom’s stroke but do I come up here to ask for patience and sympathy? It’s all delay tactics. |

From my perspective as one having been adversely affected by such dealers and manufacturers like that presented by CPT, one usually gets a radio silence response. I’m confused as to why CPT continues to stoke to flames with illusory promises of a potential buyer. When there is a bonafide offer or interest by a third party to acquire a company’s assets, including IP, one doesn’t hear a word about the ongoing transaction behind the scenes until after the deal is done. In fact, from my dealings in doing due diligence of such acquisitions, the parties are usually bound by a confidentiality agreement that bars the parties from even discussing the most superficial aspects of the review. The reasons stem from concerns of not negotiating in good faith if such disclosures were made. All of this leads me to believe that as well-intended the above posts are about a prospective buyer, it’s not credible. |
@tweak1 I understand about due diligence having been and engineer in Tyco in the late 1990's when takeovers were rife, and due diligence was the buzz word and we worked like navvies to get it done. (Tyco was then called Take Your Company Over). But communication was key with all employees and customers regarding the company being assumed and the Tyco business involved. This was done efficiently and professionally (even if the President and CFO of Tyco were jailed for fraud). The issue is communication. I have a lot of money tied up (Since February 2018) and I would like it back. No other company would be allowed to act this way in Australia. We have comprehensive consumer safeguards to protect against, what is fraudulent behaviour. if you read ALL my posts on this forum (except the last 3), they have been in support of CPT and Mark, and against some hostile posts). now it is I who has been done unto by someone I believed in. Do not expect me to be graceful and forgiving of this behaviour. Adrian |
amg56, et al I know this situation is extremely frustrating. However, If you've ever been involved in the sale/purchase of a business, you would know it takes time for both parties to go through EVERYTHING (Due Diligence) and both parties are typically bound by Confidentiality. I can't answer whether that includes not taking your calls, but everyone knows Mark has serious health issues, which stress is known to add to As a thought, since you have waited this long, why not give it a couple weeks before seeking legal action Having owned Furman, PS Audio Premier Power Plant and 3 CTPs, I know how viable the product is. Someone is/will take advantage of buying the company, and all that we've gone through will be a distant bad dream |
All, From what has, or hos not transpired, it would seem that the notice signed off be Mark and Lynn, posted by Kemper is not all it appears to be. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has been contacted by this mysterious "cptstatus@outlook.com" email address regarding their order/refund status. From my perspective, this appears to be a blind post to take the heat away from CPT and Mark himself. I do not believe that there is a new offer/owner, nor do I believe that CPT et al are going to make good on business promises made in the past. With this in mind, I intend to contact the equivalent of Australia's business complaints ombudsman to see what can be done to seek recompense or justice for what appears to be blatant fraudulent business behaviour by Mark Shifter. I have repeatedly tried to contact this mysterious interim status group, which I believe now is bogus, emailed Mark as welcomed by Mark himself in his notice, and even tried to phone call him from Australia, all without success. I would like to hear from anyone who may be able to assist in this matter so that "customers" like myself can seek some sort of representation or justice in this whole fraudulent saga. Thanks, Adrian |
Dear Friends,
With great pride and pleasure I can inform you that Core Power Technologies LLC has an offer sheet in hand and will be sold to a wonderful group that has decades in the audio space.
This company will be headed daily by our friend Kemper Holt who will be taking all calls and answering all e-mails for Core Power. Mark and Lynn are no longer going to be involved and will concentrate on health and wellness in the coming months and years. All products will be built, tested and shipped from Newbury Park CA at the facilities of RF Circuits.
Further details will be forthcoming but I can share with you that we are now in-process confirming all product owed (or refund where requested) for the new to-be owners. Many of you will see e-mails from cptstatus@outlook.com to confirm all details. The new group will be handling ALL refunds or product shipments. Some of you requested EQUI=CORE 300’s for your Deep Core order and we shipped 3 such units last week. More forthcoming. The very nice lady doing these tasks for the new owner has reported some very nice messages – I thank you for that! She is roughly ½ way through the data I provided.
There is a lot I would love to share… but my Job One Focus is to get the everything ready for the new owners and deal with current needs here. All of my contacts remain the same for now.

If you have questions or needs – just call me – or write.
I wish to personally thank Dan Wright for his consideration. I did inform Dan about 12 days back about a new offer but I needed to verify everything before stepping forward. Dan is a good person and a wonderful friend to boot. Thank You Dan.
Best wishes to all…
Mark and Lynn |
In lieu of this decision, while I have not yet received a unit from engineering, I contacted the sender and asked that it either not be sent or we will refuse shipment. Given this decision, it would not be appropriate for me to inspect a unit. I respect the Intellectual property. Thank you, Dan Wright |
Not surprising at all Dan, I was surprised you were even considering it. I was actually excited about purchasing an Equi=Core if you had taken over. Good luck to you and ModWright. I imagine you never recieved a Deepcore to test? No surprise there either. This is very bad news for all those owed refunds or product from CPT. Best of luck regaining your just due. While l believe the Equi=core products are quite good I have no faith in CPT, Mark or Deepcore. |
I have decided that I will not be purchasing and taking ownership of Core Power Technologies. It is a great product and I expect that someone will take this opportunity and do great things with Core Power. The direction that I am taking with ModWright Instruments and my own business model is such that I do not feel it is a good fit. I have expressed this to Mark Schifter and withdrew my consideration to purchase Core Power Technologies. Sincerely, Dan Wright |
All, I received an email and note from Core Power's Transition Team and Mark respectively a few days ago. The implication was that the 1800's (for 220v/240v) would be shipping via DHL. The Deep Core had still some work to go before it shipped. I could not discern whether this was limited to the 220v/240v versions or not. Nor could I discern whether Mark had a team or a helper or was doing the work himself. I understood Lynn had been very hands on, but she has been unwell of late, so say a prayer that she is ok soon. I will continue to post any updates as I receive them. A. |
To both Ozzy and Lak I cannot tell you how much I appreciate both your contributions in these forums. Especially in light of the disastrous V2 release, at this point it would at least make business sense to get DC's in your hands since you were involved from day 1. I'd personally need to hear a review from someone I trust, someone with EQ's already in their systems who'd be able to listen for and write up any noticeable improvements with DC V3. |
ozzy To add to Lak's comments. We beta testers went through a lot testing Deep Core versions 1-2.I know we can never get full compensation for the lost time of enjoying our systems, but at least, were you quickly and properly compensated? |
