Chris' latest cables.
I went to purchase a set of ICs from Chris, aka VH Audio, and for a bit of a bump in cost, he offered to send his new V-Twist ICs. Chris and I go back to the days I used to modify equipment, and knowing how conscious he is about his product, for me it was a no brainer. It turned out that not only was the IC impressive, they easily smoked everything I had laying around, some retailed for over 3 times the cost. I don’t have loads to spend on cables, but Chris makes it easy with a comparatively inexpensive cable which in my experience far out classes its, so called, competition. Opinions are just that, but in my opinion these are very good ICs for the money and when they become available on his site, you may want to check them out.

Actually there is a reason I didn't. I hit edit, but it doesn't allow me to edit, it refreshes the page, but doesn't allow editing. I'll try another browser, but this isn't the life altering issue to me that it seems to be for others. Had I realized how impactful spelling errors would be to others, I would have proofread the post. SMH |
@lous That's great glad the new IC's are so good. Agree Chris is a great guy rolled some Furutech PCs for me they sound great and were relatively cheap and fantastic customer service. |
@t_ramey He isn't selling them formally as yet, so you'll have to ask, unless you want to make your own, he is selling the wire and connectors. He uses a cable burner before he ships, so your home made versions will need some burn in time. Like so many other things, I used to think burners were a joke, but someone insisted that I send him some horrid sounding ICs, when they came back they were still inexpensive junk, but they no longer made your ears bleed. |
Which definition are you using in your ad hominem abusive? I'd hate to be guilty of a strawman argument. The fact is that after Don Sachs praised Ice Age Audio's IC, over the Duelund ICs he had been promoting, I figured that I'd try some different ICs. After buying various V-Caps from Chris, whom I have never met in person, I figured that he was likely as anal about his ICs as he was about his capacitors. I also ordered a set from Ice Age Audio, but I experienced an issue, I suspect human error after checking them out with my multimeter, but at any rate I haven't squeezed in the time to try them again. Regardless, in my system the cables Chris will be replacing his previous high end ICs with was offered to me for what I considered a sizable increase in cost. Chris knows that I have heard and modified a lot of equipment over the years, and I suspect that had something to do with his offer. If telling people that these cables made an impressive improvement in my system makes me a shill, then so be it, I'm a shill. If you are using a different definition than you are lying with no supportable basis for your ad hominem abusive. If the ICs didn't make an improvement I wouldn't have attacked them, ICs are a resistive, capacitive, inductive load. One IC may make an improvement in one system, but have a negative impact on another as they interact with the source and load in the circuit. OTOH, the closer the IC comes to a neutral effect the better the IC. I strongly suspect, again based upon my experiences with Chris' capacitors, that he has constructed a pretty neutral cable that will interact well with most components. Frankly for years now I have been using home made Duelund ICs, and Western Electric wires for my speakers, 12 gage Dueland, which is based upon Western Electric wires, seemed too expensive since aside from slightly better copper, is the same as Western Electric wires. Due to the pain in the rump it is to swap out anything on my amp, it sits on a glass stand, I haven't done a proper A/B between the W.E. wire and my Goertz flat speaker cables, but as I have ordered Chris' speaker cable I'll be comparing all 3, but as stated above, regardless of what I hear, that a cable plays nicely in my system is no guarantee that it will in yours. OTOH, if someone is on their way to spend a tremendous amount of money on a set of cables, trying these out first might be a good idea. Furthermore, multiple people have sung the praises of Chris' cables here. Does this mean that they too are shills? All things considered, I'd say that your ad hominem attack reflects more poorly upon you than upon others. |
Before you give your time of the day to a troll, read up on his previous posts. You will find that its best not to engage some folks :-) I have known and bought from Chris V over the last 10 plus years, always a great experience. He is a gentleman not to mention a great source for high value cables and audio accessories. Thanks for posting your positive experience. |
Not a troll post; anytime I see a description like "easily smoked everything I had lying around" I wonder either (a) are the OP's selection of existing cables really that bad, or (b) are we talking about some other kind of "smoking"? BTW, I am not a naysayer that PC, IC, and SC can make a difference (both positive and negative), and have used a variety of all of the above over the past 50 years. Never one to spend big bucks on cables, however, so if the OP has found some that float his boat, more power to him. |

The Spectrum cables. They were $200 more a pair, not an easy price to pay. I've never heard his Spectrum cables, so unfortunately I am unable to say what, if any, difference they made in my system. I rather doubt that the Spectrum cables are bad, I just think that a better, more involved process makes the new V-Twist a more expensive cable. Much like other Teflon based capacitors, many sound decent, but Chris' Teflon capacitors just sound so much better. Why? IMO, it's because he's relentless in pursuit of perfection. I have some of his new pulsar-x coming, and his speaker cable. I am still a 1s are 1s and 0s are 0s guy when it comes to cable, but I suspect that if anyone can prove me wrong, Chris can. I now have amassed a few power cables over the years, and I was at Parts Express once when they had a decent length of 10 gage SO cord out of which so far I made 1 power cable. I have generally thought of power cords as a sort of filter if they improved sound. I don't know that my setup needs the power cord to filter noise, but I intend to tinker with these cables, and if I find that they do make a difference in my system, I'll almost certainly buy a power cord from Chris as well. We'll see. |

That's a blast from the past. I have some of his digital cables. It's too bad the content that was available back in the 90's was so horrible. I wonder if he is using OCC silver, copper in his designs. |
@lous @fatdaddy2 We are all shills for being passionate about our gear and the manufacturer’s we embrace if we dare to share our opinions with others. Some will take offense to our championing of favored products etc.., believing that their is some sort of Audiophile Rulebook that prohibits such actions. Of course this is ridiculous in light of the fact that the entire industry is predicated upon individuals producing products that can gain favor with potential buyers, often filtered via the parasitic gate keepers that review arbitrary products based on potential advertising revenue. It’s a dirty system that has no rules or guidelines, mostly because it’s a freaking hobby! So…enjoy and share passionately whilst ignoring the demented shut ins who have created their own special world that is devoid of the human spirit to share our experiences and preferences with others whom we perceive as kindred spirits. Our fatbuddy would have a coronary over some of my posts….I actually have favorite products that I feel are superior to others 😵💫 |

His confusion might be part of a larger, more systemic disease process which has rendered him unable to discern the differences between the subjective and the objective, as it pertains to public discourse regarding things audio. Everything Chris at VHaudio does it very careful and high end, but for reasonable cost. For example if you are into modifying your gear or speakers, he makes the best internal hookup wire around, the Teflon Foamed UPOCC (not hard teflon!). Better than the identical looking Neo-tech in my head to head comparisons.
It looks like the V-Twist cable is a jacketed version of this same exact wire. It sounds good!! |
