any ideas?
I second the above advice to contact Rythmik. That guy knows his products extremely well and their customer service is famously quite good.
Streaming, Getting the Signal, Then What?
Wow, I gotta say, reading that the DS Mk I is noisy and grainy threw me for a loop. I can say with 100% certainty that mine is neither of those things, quite the contrary. I absolutely would not change DACs if I were you. I'm sure there are better...
Physically Comfortable Headphones
I'm glad you're willing to go and audition the HifiMans. I would also recommend them. I considered myself a Focal guy until I tried the HE1K V2's and I was instantly converted. Liked them so much I made the considerable leap to the Susvara, which ...
IsoAcoustics GAIA
@howardlee I know this is a bit pedantic but there's no such thing as a KEF Ref 7 Meta. There's an "R" 7 Meta, which of course is a line below the Reference line. Reference pairs consist only of models 1, 3, and 5.
Any owners of Schitt Bifrost 2?
I had a Yggy LiM and loved it. Then I had a need for a DAC with a volume control so I ended up with a PS Audio DS Mk 1. It's easily better as far as detail and bass weight. Music just has more presence and "thereness" (hey, I invented a new buzzwo...
Long time lurker looking for HT opinions
@panzrwagn The plan is to set the D&D's up alone first, then when they're dialed in I'll set up the rest of the system with the Lyngdorf. I get what you're saying about an alternate plan but using on-walls (it's an exterior wall so I don't wa...
Long time lurker looking for HT opinions
I'm setting up a media room based on exactly the same principle as mentioned by the poster above. I started out buying all matching speakers (KEF R-series) but later decided I wanted to upgrade my main L&R to Dutch & Dutch 8c's. They don't...
One answer to an oft-asked question.
Roon is excellent at recommending music, IMO. That's my #1 source, with YouTube audio equipment reviews a close second. Ron at New Record Day YouTube channel, for instance, has good taste (meaning that it's similar to mine, of course) and is vigil...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
@magon  Yes, I have Black Dragon and Silver Dragon cables. I go with whichever one sounds better with the particular headphones I'm using. Usually, that's the (copper) Black Dragon, but with the Susvara it's the Silver Dragon. I found the Clear M...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
@magon If that’s your experience then yes, I would move on from it. I actually have a similar setup that I’m using mine in. McIntosh tube HP amp, which is known to be a bit warm though I don’t think I would refer to it as dark. My ’phones are Hifi...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
@audphile1 Hmm, I always kept my Yggy on 24/7 as it took literally a week to thermally stabilize, but I wasn't as comfortable doing it with the Direct Stream since it has a screen. It just dawned on me to see if the remote had a button to turn the...
Comparing Aurender N20 vs eversolo dmp A8
The DMP-A8 truly is amazing for the money. I preferred it's analog outputs to the Octo 8 Stereo DAC (Stereophile Class A) but I prefer the PS Audio Perfect Wave Direct Stream to either. It just sounds more dynamic and real. I use the I2S out from ...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
I seem to have turned a corner with my unit. I have made no changes yet (have a Morrow I2S cable on the way), but as of yesterday great things seem to be happening. I was afraid it was wishful thinking so I waited until today and I’m listening to ...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
I'm using a knock-off Nordost Gold PC that I've really liked in other applications but I'm also just using a standard HDMI cable (tho a pretty decent one) for the I2S connection, so that's a potential weak spot I can experiment with. XLRs to the a...
Opinions on PS Audio Direct Stream DAC (Mk 1)
@gavin1977 First impressions of PS Audio DS...It's definitely a serious DAC. I'm feeding it via I2S from an EverSolo DMP-A8, then the signal goes to my Mac tube headphone amp via XLRs. The DMP-A8 is being fed from a M1 Mac Mini which is running my...
