@bikeboy52  10-4 Good buddy.  Will do.

Let Me Live - Roomful of Blues  😎

@woofman74 Glad to here you were feelin Fred Eaglesmith woofman ,he’s a car song writin som b. Check out “105” and “Georgia overdrive” good stuff.

bikeboy52 Alternator IS a great friggin car tune. And Truckers Speed is a great truckin tune. Thanks for turning us on to Fred Eaglesmith.

So many cool songs here. It’s Immaterial. Cool song/Cool video Kaleo, Kelsey Lu, Jan Hammer’s Crocket’s Theme - all very fun rides.

But how do I not know Stand On It by The Boss??? Don’t know how that one got past me.

Thanks to OP for a fun topic that made our Saturday afternoon here a blast, just  what the doctor ordered after the weather drove us inside.

Finally, a topic near and dear to my heart -power cords notwithstanding.

I love playlists.  My “Going Mobile” playlist is a six hour, 96 song, ode to cars and being on the road and features many of the tunes suggested here.  It evolved over several years and contains only ripped tracks from my personal CD collection.

Not too surprisingly it is heavy on songs by Chuck Berry, John Hiatt, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, all of who understand and write about the love of cars and the lure of the open road ( No Money Down, Tennesee Plates, Pink Cadillac, Bootleg Flyer).  I usually try not to duplicate artists in a playlist, but that just wasn’t possible here largely because of these four guys ( eg. Promised Land, Open Road, Open All Night and Higher Ground respectively ).
Clearly, this is a topic I am personally invested in.

So, I thought I’d share a few faves from “Going Mobile.”

From the “…oh yeah, why didn’t I think of that one section…”

I’m In Love With My Car - Queen

Silver Thunderbird - Marc Cohn

Lincoln Park Pirates - Steve Goodman

The Road Goes On Forever - Joe Ely

1000 Miles from Nowhere - Dwight Yokum

From the slightly more obscure but equally good section:

She Runs Hot - Little Village

18 Wheels and a Crowbar - BR5-49

Studebaker - Jordon Zevon version

Highway 49 - Omar and the Howlers

Rocket to Nowhere - Webb Wilder (the last of the full-grown men)

Enjoy.

Woof

Freeway Jam by Mr. Beck
Long May You Run by Mr. Young
Love Shack by The B-52's.

Forgot one--one of my all time FAVS:

Bruce Springsteen: "Stand On It"--a TRUE "Rockabilly" song if ever there was one...

AND, it was played in a hilarious film--Ruthless People

Big Star, "Back of a Car" - great memories of that one. Golden Earing, "Radar Love" & The Knack, "My Sharona" - so many!

The opening druming on 'Hot for Teacher' (Van Halen) reminds me of the lumpy idle of an AA fueler prior to a blistering launch...

...another reason my hearing sucks...*L*

@axo1989 No apologies necessary here , Tracy Chapman too, cool song, so many  great car/road/ truck /bike songs, too many to count I,d wager.

Did I miss someone posting the audiophile staple?

Tracy Chapman — Fast Car

@bikeboy52

@akg_ca Technically a trucker song but awesome nonetheless,we may need a truck driving thread ? In that case “ Mama hated diesels “ by the good Commander Cody.

I hoped cars/trucks/bikes were all sufficiently topic-adjacent. Apologies otherwise. 🙂
