A few links make it: the majority of my attempts to paste links ends with a BIG X BLOCKED.
links from eBay, links from amazon, links from Discogs, .....
AND, any prior text disappears when you try to get back to what you had written, just gone.

As an individual who don't get any pleasure form Cold Callers, Excessive Enforced Marketing and being denied the opportunity to offer to another reasonable assistance. I have become increasingly niggled by the increasing methods used by The Gon Forum, to ensure other are to see mostly what they are not interested in, when it comes to unavoidable adverts. The Gon Forum has very recently seemingly allowed whole page Pop Ups to take over ones Browser during a visit to the site, which is very much unwanted. The Gon Forum has also become a censorship in how it is controlling adding Links where such as the content in a link, is being deliberately denied to the individual who the Link is put up for to assist with supplying extended info to an inquiry made. Maybe I am jumping to a Conclusion, but the Gon Forum at present is seemingly overcontrolling and becoming an unattractive place to attend as a Forum Contributor. I am on the verge of having a absence, as the help I have enjoyed offering to others, is slowly being made more and more difficult to pass on as a sharing of experience had. |
noromance thanks, using the ’link’ worked. What is not working as it always did, was a simple ’copy and paste’ of a link. Others here have said they are having trouble also. I never knew that button existed, or what ’link’ meant, it does not say ’insert’ link, just as the photo icon does not say ’insert’ photo. btw, I have been messaging back and forth with support, (32 messages since 3-2-24) no one mentioned the link button. how do you change a link from 20 lines of jibberish to i.e.’here is a link’ as you did above? Takes up a lot less space in a post.

The Forum in my experience is dumping the whole post made, if it rejects the Link added to the Post. To avoid this, the Post is written as a draft mail in my mail account, and pasted to the forum, at least this way the post can be added when the first attempt is rejected. I don't see any sense in needing to use such a safeguard to get a post viewed. The idea of not posting is becoming attractive. |
I now write in word, edit, then copy and paste, but I need to delete/replace any links in the word original. that way, if lost, my work is not lost. Another problem, sometimmes I cannot edit, even text, the cursor refuses to be inserted, like if I want to go back and delete the extra m in sometimes, it just won't let me. others have this problem occasionally? |
@elliottbnewcombjr Simply select the text you want, e.g. "Here is a link," then click the link button. Then paste in the URL of the site. You can also start by clicking the link button and fill in the fields. @pindac Install ad blocker extension in your browser. |
This is the reason I left Audiogon for a year. The last straw for me was to get 6-8 posts deleted in 4 months when I had no posts deleted in the 20 yrs previous. Too much drama on Agon and its just not much fun. OTOH most of the so called "audiophile" boards are also contentious as well. Post anything about cables, or anything that helps conduct a signal better is sure to turn into a bunch of mud slinging. Even on A'gon I'm not sure that any thread which spoke positive about Perfect Path Technologies ever survived. Like you said, unattractive |
OP: The issue seems to be a bug that raw links don't work, but if you link text to a URL that works consistently well. So if I were to put in a pure URL here: http colon slash slash CNN dot com That would fail, but the link embedded in this sentence works. |
Same for me post a link it says blocked but I’m not blocked, question for @elliottbnewcombjr are you using the Firefox browser? I am and that sometimes causes issues. Thanks!

noromance solved it. "Use the insert URL button." and I figured out what noromance meant about simply naming the link. top box of link: display text, write what you want paste the url in the url box hit yes only the display text you entered appears in the post, all the gibberish is hidden i.e. I’m soooo glad I had this problem, I’ve learned some very useful methods from noromance. |

Since yesterday i cannot post a message in the right chronological position at the end of the thread but my posts once ready is placed at first anywhere in the thread save at the end of the thread where it must be... to retrieve the right order of all posts, my new posts included , i must go out of the thread and come back with "Browse menu" above... Others had this new problem? |

I had no more problem with the temporal order... I think i was the culprit as usual the troublemaker by accident in this case or by words excess in many other cases ... 😉
