Funny, I was just thinking the same thing as I read through the thread on SET vs PP amps. Charles does so love his SET's. Hope he is well.
I miss him too, hope he’s doing well. Let’s hope to hear from @charles1dad soon. |
He'll will hopefully also discover the time when it is right to opt back in. He knows much and communicates it in a way that is easy to navigate. Members and Non Members that make up the visitors that are Looking In Only, will benefit from such a supply of info and they deserve the quality of the content as well. |
While we're speaking of valued members who haven't been heard from for a while, I have also been concerned about @jjss49. He is a very knowledgeable man as well as a kind and generous human. I once asked his advice on a particular tube, and he gave me two for free that were worth more than $1200, and he never even met me. |
ditto @roxy54. |
I actually understand if that's the way that Charles feels. Without really making a conscious decision, I've noticed that in the last few months I'm posting here much less frequently even though I'm retired now. When I realized and thought about it, I guess it's because a number of my favorite members are gone, and then there is the repetition of the same subjects with similar conclusions. |
I felt the same after many years... But i tried to introduce new musical content and reflections of my own... I am tired to repeat my rant about acoustics or my rare news about a piece of gear... i spoke a lot more about music... We must not wait for others content to entertain us but giving content of our own... I am active in Jazz thread and in another music threads... Less in gear thread... I just bought a new cables, a new grounding devices (low cost) so what... It is more interesting to speak about music... I regret the disapearence of everybody though, even those i like less because i love individuals for what they are, nevermind my preferences for some... Humanity grow with differences... I read charles1dad posts with pleasure anyway...

When posting on a forum, it is important to decide who is actually the intended recipients of the Post. In general I see many involved actively in a forum as established and not looking for a reinvention of the wheel. These types know what they have is totally adequate for their needs, not much can be put in front of this type of individual in writing to create change to how they maintain their established position. Experiences had oof being Private Mailed, strongly suggest that some do, but not displaying inquisitiveness as a Publicly seen expression. In a nut shell I do write for this type of person, under the idea, the content will not be of any great interest to the majority. I do write to assist the OP, but in many cases, the OP does not fully grasp the info where avoiding spending large wads of cash can be avoided. This is easily understood as the Gon is fundamentally a seller site, and much of what is seen on the Forum Section has content that is steering being supplied by those who are keen to see sales come from their participation with the Gon. The most basic guidance being spending money to resolve an inquiry is a critical requirement. Mainly my content posted is wanted to be received by the forum member not usually posting and the non member forum onlooker. Nearly everything I am about with my Audio Interest has been born and realised without any input from anybody connected to the Gon. I am happy to make my experiences and satisfaction with the results of building an audio system around such experiences known to these types. I'm always keen to reiterate large sums of monies is not required to create a really enjoyable and satisfying audio experience, this is the drum I beat for these types. I deliberately write in a particular way that is not always well received, but for myself, the style goes a long way to keep myself amused whilst forum active, which does work
