If you know that a user is a dealer and they fail to disclose and attacks other users because they make a point against their interest, do you expose the user?
I know of a gentleman here that continuously posts and goes after people and does not disclose who he is.
@mahgister you’re one of the lads in here, few are foolish enough to argue with you.
You do what you do with what you have, resourcefulness and ingenuity are your shield and sword.
I have read what you’ve said many times, and weighed it up with what others have also stated, and have been finding my way to embed my system into what I have now. It may not be the exact way you did it, but acknowledge the recipe, with my different ingredients. Just as you have done some of the things I do (isolation) your way with your choices.
You don’t get bullied, well perhaps challenged, but nobody wants to really take your horns so to speak.
You have many friends in here, and I don’t see that you’re in any real trouble - Groucho Marx (well, I bet sometime in his life he said it :-P )
I never said anything against Ted Denney products..
I only post in the threads he initiate like i did in any interesting subject thread in audio here, and i was even interested to discuss with him because some of his products included Shuman generators and some electronical way to modify the acoustic of a room, why not? I myself used a grid of small tuned S.G.
All people dont own a dedicated audio rom like me and anyway to do the same thing that his product did to the room at no cost i must use no esthetical devices and a great numbers of these devices made with discarded materials ... My audio room look like a "mad scientist laboratory"...
But when i posted something about acoustic in his thread instead of discussing in a gentleman way he make inuendo to ridiculizing my virtual page...Not one argument save the look of my room...
This give us an idea of what kind of persona is hidden by the company he represent...
I dont condemn his products i never listen really to them... I condemn the childish method of this dude...
I dont want anything more to do with someone like that...
Audiogon is supposed to be a place for anyone, even sellers are welcome, but not for bully...his method with me was ad hominem attack... I am not the first it seems ... I just see the story here of Jerry123, it is difficult for me not to trust his side of the story knowing how mr. Denney operate...
Then this has nothing to do about the value or not of his product...
It is a small paranoiac chidish bully for me who will never apologize for anything about anything... Nothing else...I think he perceive me and my method like a menace to his enterprise thats all...Then i will never trust him for anything...
Thats all.there is to say for me...
By the way people who discuss with me know that i use arguments and some knowledge...I dont bully or attack ad hominem... And i can admit if i am wrong and i apologize...But when i am not wrong i dont back...And i can proved my point ....
@mahgister you’re one of the lads in here, few are foolish enough to argue with you.
Oh wow If I would have known who this bunch was from the beginning, I would have joined right in and told the bunch of mental midgets they are the slimiest bunch of nitwits I’ve seen in a long time alone with Ethen W. GO AWAY. There is nothing on AH I like not a single thing..
Don’t try to ruin THIS site too. This site is a place to enlighten people not limit them by your friggin stupefied measurement that are so outdated I quit using them in the field 20 years ago. Null that..

I’ve fixed more cables and tested more cables than ANY of you. PERIOD! 49 years I was a mechanic. I wasn’t trying to be one or run a web site or make videos. I fixed the 100k cables you guys say makes NO DIFFERENCE. Funny guys..
Talk about disclosure a little TO LATE!
BTW Measure THIS.
I’m with you Mr Denny, hell I don’t even know who you are.. At least your smart enough to buy Mcintosh.
Now I know why they rubbed me so wrong, I pretty sure MC wouldn’t be conversing with the measurement crowd.
I need to go take a shower..
Here is the summation of you guys. I can’t HEAR because I choose not to hear.
Your all a bunch of Girly men. Hemorrhoids! Preparation H super strength, please!!
By the way i am not a measuring obsessive audiophile ...Objectivist or subjectivist position ALONE make no sense to me...
Designing a product or learning how to embed the gear mechanically electrically or acoustically imply a PROCESS of CORRELATIVE exhange between a judging subjectivity and some standard or non standard measuring process in engineering or some objective disposition and measured device in acoustic..
For example : an Helmholtz resonators must be put on the exact right spot, this can be meassured, by ears or by computations, and the design of the H.R. must be calculated ideally by some equations relating volume, neck, and cross ratio to determine his frequencies absorption and diffusion optimally... This is only an example ...
But this illustrate the fact that in audio in our evolutive personal history if we are not PASSIVE CONSUMERS ONLY but also audiophile who created listening experiments like myself, objective settings and measures go hand in hand with subjective biases and judgement.... A bias is not only a negative factor to eliminate it can be also a positively acquired experience by the subject...
Like i already said subjectivity win at the last moment yes, but its only saying a common place fact.... Any subjective judgement cannot have a greater value than the sum total of all his experience in objective experiments about audio... if not audio will be meaningles tastes without any foundation in reality... ...I hate obsessive measurbators who think that a dac sound quality can only be measured , but i dont approve consumers buying obsession who chase their tail and call that their taste... Mechanical control of vibration for example like acoustic is not based only on subjective impressions but on exact fine tuning of some load by exact numbers or by ears... but it is an objective process...
In acoustic subjectivity and objective measures goes together.... There is even a field connected to physical acoustic calleed psycho-acoustic where subjective impression must be correlated to objective measures...
Your all a bunch of Girly men. Hemorrhoids! Preparation H super strength
Yup! That’s pretty much it. You nailed it.
I don’t care who Ted is, but I like that he stands up to the bullies. All bullies. Senile bullies, teenage bullies, passive aggressive bullies, Gene bullies. All of the bullies.
@oldhvymec I like the cut of your sails. My reason for contributing here is one, I may be a manufacturer, but I’m also an audiophile, this is also my hobby, it’s what I love to do, and I like enjoying it and having discussions with other men and women who love Audio as I do. My discussion questions have been to get people to think, to not over complicate things and realize, at the end of the day it’s all about enjoying music on our exquisite stereos. The constant pushback from som against not only me, but all sincere audio lovers anytime they share an experience not in line with this mob makes sense now that we know who the sock puppet gang is. I have always been careful never to promote my brand, but to assert my knowledge gained over 30 years, to help other audiophiles get better sound, as well as to have discussions along the way with other points of view. But what we’re seeing here is not a point of view, it’s an agenda, it’s fanaticism, and it’s toxic.
@mahgistermy system page is unorthodox too, maybe not quite as much as yours. My stuff is sitting on the floor and springs, and what I built I've got DIY photos of partial assembly, not likely to make the cover of a magazine I'm afraid.
What's even crazier about my system is I lay in bed to listen to it, literally!
My wife and I can lay in bed and listen to beautiful music, or dance in our bedroom, my bedroom is my listening room. In all it's 15' x 24' glory, and the loo is right next door too.
Like you, I'm just doing the best I can while balancing priorities of life I need to address.
I research and build because I don't have an unlimited budget, and I like to make stuff, especially stuff that works well.
I don't begrudge anyone having a red hot go of loving music any way they can, with whatever means they have. Thank you for your contributions, and your friends will always value you, mate.
Are you really this dim … There is no “actionable innuendo” , there is a simple factual link to a statement made by another party who makes reference to you!
Why have you not taken action against that publication if as you claim it is entirely false ?
In fact you have accused me of acting in a defamatory manner thereby attempting to lower my esteem in the eyes of other members here … Ergo You have defamed my character on this forum !!!
Do any of you find it ironic that in a thread devoted to MC-where some are relieved that he is gone because he stirs the pot and others lament his absence, this has turned into a cluster**** without said MC participating? Maybe we all need to look at ourselves, what we want from this site and other participants and consider the kinds of rules of behavior that are acceptable.
I've been on many an Internet site in the day and dealt with lots of Internet litigation over the basic rules of conduct in the U.S. and abroad. This thread is an embarrassing reflection of "us". I'm not pointing fingers because I really have no idea who started what but I suspect that even those who like MC would find this distracting and beside the point for an audio forum.
The Gon administration should also take the time to compose some reasonable terms of use. When I last looked, a while ago, the TOU did not prohibit a lot of conduct that is irrelevant, including the discussion of politics.
I'm not reporting anybody. I'm not a narc. But, I've been here a while and like to contribute and learn. This is so far removed from the purpose of the forum I have to ask-- do you find this acceptable? (that's a rhetorical question that does not require an answer).
Music is art. Art is subjective. Thus music is subjective. I might be a noob when it comes to systems, but I am right about that.
I own Synergistic Research Foundation cables. I was a doubter in the impacts cables could have until I upgraded what I owned to those Foundation cables. I consider them as important to my system as my McIntosh gear.
@ted_denney Keep making those fantastic cables. I know when my wife actually comments that the music sounds bigger with "those new cables" you are onto something. Thanks!
It wasn't that long ago that there was this big brouhaha over cables, subjective vs objective approaches and the like and Audioholics was taken to task by the members here at A'gon.
Did the other shoe drop? I recall that most here called out Gene from Audioholics and his merry band of objectivists who tried to run roughshod over A'gon, trying to take it over with their arguments and ended up losing.
Did some reinvent themselves to have a go at Ted? When Ted started his threads, he was taken to task over them and I pointed out (quite a while ago) that all he was doing was what everyone else does and why all the acrimony.
Oh la la … the ratings men have skyrocketed. Done blew a hole in the ceiling, through the second story and onto the cosmos called, “The Twilight Zone.”

read my posts, then tell me I’m an objectivist. I have posted multiple times that I believe Denney’s behaviour is making it difficult for subjectivists to be taken seriously
As long as manufacturers, sellers and others with commercial audio interests sail under their own flags, openly - and dont post to the detriment of others - I am OK with it.
I also have quite good experience with my Synergistic Research A/C Master Coupler X2 cables. There, my interests ends. No commercial or user affiliation.
Of course, a manufacturer or seller will be influenced by the product s/he makes or sells. Happens to all of us. We have the tendency to defend the gear we bought. Sounds like the best in the world.
But the purpose of Audiogon, the way I see it, is to invite all this variation, into healthy debate. Saving us all from doing everything on our own, helping us to become more critical listeners and experienced customers, avoiding bad deals and adjusting what we have.
I appreciate the posts from mahgister, basically saying you can treat your room for low cost, rather than invest in component upgrades. I wonder what can be done in a combined living / listening room, like mine.
I asked - how can we search better, on the web, for good user experience beyond semi-commercial information. Thanks to ricthetrick for comment. But not answered, so far.
Well I read/scanned this dang thread, and I’d like that hour of my life back. I’ve been here a couple years, but don’t think I have enough history to appreciate or understand the acrimony, the emotions, and/or the choosing of sides.
That said, I am a big fan of Agon, looking at it daily, and what I’ve learned cannot be put into a short post. I feel strongly that a dealer should have to disclose themselves on this forum.
Personally, I don’t have enough history, or memory, to know who said or did/does what. So, perhaps something simple, like “a badge”, that would accompany the posts of those who are paid, or financially benefit from taking part in the audio industry. What’s wrong with a little transparency? … A simple disclosure form that users could voluntarily fill out as part of their profile.
Accompanied by that, we are smart people who know dookie when we smell it.
A badge is worthy of consideration. But maybe a dealer / manufacturer disclosure in the signature is OK as a first step. To make Audiogon a better forum.
Not because i doubt that there may be a positive modification if i did it .
Not at all... The same thing with cables... I did change my cables few times and always detected a difference postive and negative in some case...
Then why i did not want to change my fuses and my cables for better one?
First i dont need to invest money in my system now i am completely happy, no small change will make me happier...
Simple, second, the control of the general noise floor of the house, the control of resonance negative impact and vibrations on speakers especially and the passive treatment of the room with a balance between absorbing surface and reflecting and diffusive one on small room make together a greater differences than any fuses or cables for sure...NO COMPARISON HERE...Saying the opposite is ignorance...
Add to that in a dedicated room a mechanical control of the room like i did, to adapt the room to the speakers specific workings drivers and tweeters and to your specific ears , the improvement i gained is not a small improvement at all, it is a complete transformation of the speakers/room potential which reach their peak working possibility TOGETHER...
Listening experiments where the objective side of sound , what is measurable in the acoustic settings and in the devices used, which are Helmholtz resonators and diffusers, are being CORRELATED for my specific EARS and tastes... Here the tuning is a process where subjectivity and objectivity MEET TOGETHER... Subjectivity rules yes but any king need a kingdom , some objective ground... this is my point... It is not simple to understand? Then forget all those who vouch by measure ONLY or those who vouch by subjective taste ONLY... They are IGNORANT of acoustic...They want to sell your their TOOLS to measure in the first case, or they want to sell your their products in the second case... I sell creativity....
Then i will never bought anything costly, cables or fuses or any costly upgrade...
Then i recommend to people and advise them before buying anything costly, to adress mechanical vibrations and the acoustic, at least passive material treatment if they are in a living room, and i advise them to look if possible for ways to decrease the electrical noise floor of the house...
To be wise never UPGRADE gear, if your basic gear is already basically relatively good, BEFORE working with the control of the electrical, mechanical and especially acoustic embeddings...If you dont do it, you will never know the S.Q. potential of what you already own, prematurely selling it to upgrade before the right moment in time...
It is not worth the money to invest on some secondary item of a car BEFORE upgrading the tires before a race.... Acoustic is the tires and the road itself in this metaphor...
Then i dont say that "tweaks" dont work, most did, i replicated some of them..
But the improvement is SMALL compared to acoustic not even on the same level...
is it not simple?
Thanks for your kind words toward me...My best to all and everyone, no person excluded...
Acoustic is the sleeping princess and all the pieces of gear are the 7 working dwarves...NOTHING MORE....
I appreciate the posts from mahgister, basically saying you can treat your room for low cost, rather than invest in component upgrades. I wonder what can be done in a combined living / listening room, like mine.
I believe everything matters. It often comes to what you have the time, interest, inclination and money to do. Though I always consider resale value an important part of the decision. many cables and isolation devises lose almost no value over a few years.. I have experienced significant improvements from cords, cables, isolation...have never tried fuses, they would probably help, and I’m tired of trying different cables, just can’t get on floor anymore...and it was the Synergistic Master Coupler that got me started on power cords, sold it for no loss 10 years later...
@whartthe forum rules do prohibit political discussions. The volunteer mods would have to babysit this place day and night to make sure that the policies are followed. That's not going to happen. So they skim quickly and delete here and there, sometimes entire threads. A lot of times a polite and sensible post gets wiped out because it's sandwiched in between some of the obnoxious posts. I'm a mod on another type of forum which isn't as busy as this one.Over there we have the luxury of time to ask nicely to cease and desist, several times if necessary. The incorrigible are banned. This is a private company with the right to make and enforce their own rules. But with only a couple of mods here it's pretty much impossible to do much enforcement.
..well I ashamedly admit to having waded thru the muck of comments re Ted’s original post and fear my IQ has dropped a few points. Ted’s company SR makes all sorts of interesting products that will either improve sonics or not…but one thing is certain. The only way to make that determination about anything is to listen to said product in your system. May I remind that he offers a 30 day money back guarantee? Hello? For the record I’m a retired EE and as such, a skeptic when it comes to a lot of the tweaking wares out there. I won’t get into the beaten to death cable brouhaha but I can say with first hand knowledge that his purple fuses do exactly what they are purported to do. Don’t ask me why because even with my RLC credentials I have no explanation. You can piss and moan about the SR “snake oil” all you want but don’t dismiss everything out of hand. I didn’t and I’m enjoying a higher level of sonics in my McIntosh/VSA system. Ok guys flame way, I can take it..LOL..
It bring big tear of joy to my eye that this matter being resolve. The Ted guy maybe stop be rude to audiophile and call stuff junk and maybe start lift weight a little be help. Other guy realize guy businessman and work real hard to get good product and not keep nagging him like old lady over hair color. You make good point that Ted guy not identify self and maybe he be more care in do that. Me thought steel cage match in order but I bet oldhemmy come in smash everyone real good. It make my heart warm we no have to do that.
