Who Was Your Favorite One Hit Wonder

What was your favorite one hit wonder song, and who performed it? You can name one or a few.

I loved (and still do) "Voices Carry" performed by Till Tuesday.

C'mon. Put on your thinking caps.

This thread is great, takes me down memory lane. Don't think I saw Surfin' Bird by the Trashmen mentioned here. A record a friend of mine bought just so he could destroy it with a sledgehammer.
Rsbeck, you are taking me back to my teenage days in the early 70s! What a blast! I loved that song!!
Just Call Me Angel of the Morning
Merrilee Rush & The Turnabouts/Juice Newton
Words & Music by Chip Taylor

Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Wildfire -- Michael Martin Murphy

She ran calling Wildfire
She ran calling Wildfire
She ran calling Wildfire
HEY !! is this not way more fun than which piece of thousand $ copper wire sounds better?! 1. My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small 2. Roller Skate Song by Melanie 3. Party Train by the Gap Band 4. Sweet Soul Music by Arthur Conley
Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks. it was a freaky song about suicide or something like that. I can still remember the chorus but not much else. I haven't heard it in a while.

Mejames, was Missing Persons a one hit wonder or was it just me that heard a bunch of their songs?
There was a great song by Red Ryder but I can't remember the name. Ah, "Lunatic Fringe".
David Essex "Rock On" has to be on this list - truly an outstanding pop single.
Fontella Bass "Rescue Me"
Little Eva "Locomotion"

Two fun songs from the early sixties
Was not Was, "walk the dinosaur" (or something like that); "up down periscope" by Novo Combo. I'd add "More than a Feeling" by Boston, but that's more an editorial comment.
El Debarge - Rythm Of The Night
-Can't think about this song without a "Miami Vice" association. A great little tune!
I think it is a bit unfair, and not a little bit provincial, to cite as "one hit wonders" performers who, for a time, dominated the singles charts internationally, yet nevertheless only managed one hit single in the US. On this account, T-Rex was no more a one-hit wonder than were The Beatles. As for The Hollies, they were a hit machine almost everywhere. "Long Cool Woman" was not their only success in the US. In the 1967 US charts, both "Carousel" and "Carrie Anne" were among the 100 top selling singles of the year. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" was similarly among the top 100 US singles of 1970.
t rex, bang a gong ( get it on) / the hollies, long cool woman in a black dress/ alan parsons project, i wouldnt want to be like you/ rick derringer, rock & roll hoochie koo/
montrose,bad motor scooter.
Come On Down to My Boat (baby, come on down where we can play ...)by Every Mother's Son. My wife mentioned this one to me and now I can't get it out of my head.
Lighthouse Fans! Ex Lighthouse member Howard Shore has had some recent hits with the soundtracks to some movies known as Lord Of The Rings!
Synapses fire off from time to time. How about:

TSOP (The Sound of Philidelphia) by MFSB (either "Mother, Father, Sister, Brother" or "M***** F****** Soul Band" not sure which)
JRD351: "And if you've warped your life trying to reach your goal, you'll get a lot more cash with a little bit of soul..."
Has anyone mentioned the greatest garage band song ever:

GLORIA by either Them, which had a couple of charters, but not many or definitely one hit wonders the Shadows of Knight.
Polk Salad Annie - Tony Joe White ("everybody said it was a shame, that your Mama's been workin' on the chain gang"...)
Louie, Louie - Kingsmen (Name of our neighborhood gang)
Louie, Lou-I - Stories
I'll Keep Holding On - Simply Red (one of the few songs I push the "repeat" button for...)
The Yardbirds are members of the Rock Hall of Fame. One hit wonders they are not.
Jrd351, thanks for the correction. A group that boasts Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page as former members could'nt possibly have been a one hit wonder! Thanks again.
How about 'DOA' by Bloodrock? Kinda dark but cool.
Thank You Jrd351 for the correction. On the UK charts they had even more.

So many memories.

Quick Joey Small- Kasenatz Katz Orchestral Band??? The penultimate bubblegum song.

Bruckner-same symphony played 9 times( actually 11, if you count 0 and 00 as more than student works)

They were playing this all over the San Francisco air waves in the early 90s, I believe, but people out here in CO have never heard it. It's a true OHW, and pretty darned funny, to boot:

Detachable Penis by King Missile
the yardbirds charted 10 u.s. hits..for your love,i'm a man,hearfull of soul,shapes of things,over undersideways down,happening ten years time ago,little games,ha ha said the clown,ten little indians,goodnight sweet josephine...hardly 'one hit' wonders
Well George most might have but I sure didn't. Thanks for that bit of information, I'll be sure to file it in the depths of my shallow memory for future reference.
The 45 of The Rapper lists the group as Jaggerz as does the onehitwonder website. I know that Love is Blue had words, but the song that was a #1 hit for Paul Mauriat was an instrumental. How about The Royal Guardsmen with "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" and "Snoopy's Christmas". 1910 Fruitgum Co. "Simple Simon" Ohio Express "Yummy Yummy Yummy I Got Love in My Tummy". Coven "One Tin Soldier" .
and oh I forgot

"Feelings" Morris Albert a Brazilian artist that ironically enough didn't make it in Brazil. Was there a bigger hit in 1975 than that one?
Time Won't Let Me - Outsiders

You Keep Me Hanging On - Vanilla Fudge

My Guy - Mary Wells

Hold Your Head Up - Argent

Eve of Destruction - Barry McGuire

Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band (Albert Porter loves this one :)

All Right Now - Free

Sally's Saying Something - Billy Harner (I am curious if anyone remembers this one or if it was just a local Philly hit. Harner, a local barber made a career from that one hit wonder from 1965.

The Eggplant That Ate Chicago - anyone remember by who? It was a big novelty hit in the early to mid 60's I believe.
Love is Blue mentioned above actually has words to it.
Also Time Won't Let Me by the Outsiders.
Im not too crazy about the hit,but TT was one of the most under rated bands in rock.
The hit was ok, but the rest of there albums were excellent.( I havent listened in 20 yrs)

I can hear the influence of their sound upon REM and Counting Crows.
Neither of whom can equal TT, IMO.
