Where does your user name come from?

Hi everyone,
I'm curious to know what's the story behind your user name (or Alias)... There are a bunch of people that use their name (of parts of it) like myself, Albert Porter, GerryM5, Esoler...

But where does user name like Cornfedboy, Garfish, Calloway, Tireguy, SwampWalker (and many many others) come from? Any story behind?

Just curious

its obvious, tennis was my favorite sport at the time my username was selected. now footbal (i.e., soccer to americans) is my favorite spectator sport.

i use to be an avid tennis player until i tore my meniscus in both knees.
rawinsonde could be derived from 1 to 3

1. ra is short for my name, ray... win is for win the auction.. and sonde is for sound. (ray wins the bid for the sound device...record, tape, etc)
2. ra is short for my name, ray... win is for "windows" which was my development platform as a computer programmer... sonde was my development of interactive voice response software (telephone sound).
3. ra is short for "radio", win is short for winds, and sonde is short for "soundings"... This is a technical contraction for rawinsonde, a technology the military used that sent balloons up to measure winds aloft at specified levels.
Company that made "straight line" tracking turntables back in the day. The tone arm didn't swing in an arc...it moved in approximately a straight line, at a right angle, to the circumference of the record. My parents gave me one for my high school graduation. It was a guaranteed conversation starter in the college dorm in 1972.
O = Obin (my first name)

and

J = Jessica (my wife's first name)

we've used this username on ebay since 1999. i use it on all the auction websites and it helps to keep things straight.
Comes from my first name and after hearing so many different amp topologies, what I think sounds best, not necessarily that I own a SET.

The very first time I heard a SET amp, I was at a show in Philly and heard about 7-8 different SET amps. 845's, 211's, 300B's, and a 2A3 amp (from Cary, Berning, Audio Note, Fi and others) and it was quite a revelation.
I run a life Insurance agency called trailblazers. So audioblazer seems appropriate for anythg related to audio
On the desk at the time I joined the forum was a book about 20th century 'classical' music titled "The Rest is Noise" hence - Musicnoise.
My name comes from a couple of things. I ride a Harley Roadking Classic and my initials are RAW. That makes Roadkingraw
Randy
Well since you asked...
the first part tdat is my first initial T(erry) followed by the first 3 letters of my last name. Now the 7192 is a weird number. A weird number is one that has proper divisors that add up to more than the number, but no subset of proper divisors add up to the number itself.
{The proper divisors of 12 = 1,2,3,4,6. Yet 6+4+3+2+1=16>12 and 6+4+2=12, therefore 12 is not a weird number.} Perhaps a better moniker would have been geek. :)
Thu is the name of my niche. She is Vietnamese. Having lived and studied in Japan in the 90 ies I always use the Japanese ending for kids or family members which is chan. Instead of the grown up ending san.
I've played drums for 39 years, owned drum shops, & still sell drums on ebay. Hence, drum-marty, less one m.
The Tigger part was just some random happening. The FC part is actually my NEC, or rather, my job code in the Navy.
My Mom's endearing nickname to my Dad (we shared the same first name).

May he rest in peace.
British military call sign. Meandering story from a long time ago in a universe far, far away.
First name and first three letters of last name. I was tired and picked an easy name. After being accused of being from "somewhere" other than Amerika and therefor un-Amerikan I realize it was a poor choice and should have used Billy-bobbin.
Ait = Audiophile-in-training

I originally spelled it out but became tired of typing it over and over again, so I shortened it to Ait.

In the early days of importing Avantgarde hornspeakers - 1999 or so - I used the screen name of hornguys.

Resigned as the Avantgarge distributor in late 2005.

Inquired later as to whether or not I could change my screen name. Audiogon said no - so hornguys it remains.

My actual name is Jim Smith.
.
Mine is a play on Seurat, the french painter - when I first got online, back in the early 90's on Prodigy, it was bounced so I went with Cerrot. It has been my online name ever since.
Mine is my name and my wifes name. i was rushing when I joined years ago and we had a joint email account at that time with the same name, didn't put much thought into it. I actually looked into changing it a few years ago but got sidetracked. I don't think I can anyway. It's really kind of cheesy and has no relationship to the site or hobby. Makes me look like a good husband! I wonder if Audiogon would help me change it if I come home and my stuff is in the front yard...again.
Mine is based on my childhood experiences. My stepfather, a part time stand in for Santana in San Jose California would show us kids his reel to reel tape machines and bonogs, congos and other instruments and play us some of the session tapes from clubs and such. I remember him telling us about feeling the music and how it could make you feel alive and how powerful it is. He also stated that the musical journey was a lifelong event for someone interested in music. Sadly, he passed away in the early 90's and since then I always thought of music as being a passion and a lifelong journey; hence "Audioquest4life".

My sister is still in touch with Santana and meets the Estovan family occasionally. She is a dedicated singer on the West Coast and has fame on the original Beverly Hills 90210 soundtrack, No Intermission with the group 5.0 and now solo and part time singer which have included players like Elton John, Pablo Cruise. I play trumper part time, but cannot sing, and dogs, birds and cats all run when i even try, so my contribution is to keep music alive by involving and welcoming others to become inteersted in music all over again.

My sister, when not performing in Oakland at any of the clubs, can be found pretty much up and down the west coast, or Italy performing. She can be found at venues and her pages have samples of her works:

Ciao,
Audioquest4life
My handle comes from the world of horses. In the show ring, five gaited American Saddlebreds are ridden & judged at the walk, trot, slow-gait, rack and canter. The horses proceeed from the slow gait - a slow stepping pace - directly into the rack, which is judged at speed. The Announcer will call "rack on" at the command for the gait. It is the flashiest, most exciting andmost demanding gait these horses can perform, the ultimate in that breed of horse. Hence Rackon.
Glory, how dare you say something religious in this haven of secular humanism (also a religion). You're lucky all you got was raised eyebrows.

My username sounds suspiciously like what my mother used to call me, although I think there was another syllable in the middle somewhere...
One of my friends used to spurt out "a buck-two-eighty-five and some change" when talking about the cost of anything. It wouldn't all fit so I abbreviated it a tad. It was either this or "chowderhead", after our first cat, now long deceased. Chowderhead is more fitting at times.
(H)eating, (E)lectrical, (V)entilation & (A)ir (C)onditioning.
The 1 was added so I could use the same name on other web sites where hevac could have already been used, trade sites mainly.
It was back in '97 and an AG staffer sent me an email after viewing my classified ad on rec.audio.classifieds to notify me of a new website called Audiogon...who else remember the days of buying/selling on usenet, the old audioreview website that really rocked for used gear, and audioweb? Anyways, it was a free sign up so I said why not, not knowing years later the site would actually turn into the success story it has. Filling out the signup form I was listening to Coltrane's Blue Train for the umpteenth time and the thought occurred to me that each time is as good as the last, therefore I must be a Coltrane one (person), and 13 years later Coltrane1 is still chuggin' along buying gear! Wow, that's like over 20% of my lifetime of which many hours have been spent here trollin' for new gear! Do I need to get a life or what? :)
