Jazz for jazz fans!
MacArthur Park
Trumpeter Maynard Ferguson’s version is well known in jazz circles. I had a vinyl record of it in 1975, nearly recorded around the same time as DS’ version.
Your first concert was to see who and when?
Deodato, performing a live concert on Waikiki Beach in 1974. Top that!
Why not the piano as a reference for bass
Each piano varies in tonality. But I’d argue that despite piano’s being a so called percussive instrument acoustic piano’s ring with overtones that no bass can match. And no digital piano can match the overtones of an acoustic piano.
How close are you to being to your endgame? My system outline and I'm almost there.
Every time I think I’m done, great used buys keep dragging me back in!
Should I buy another flat screen now while they are still relatively cheap?
I have an 8 year old Samsung that I’ve watched for several hours every day. I’ve also got an 8 year old LG that I view for streaming and movies. When I want to get serious about watching a movie it’s definitely on the LG. It’s got the best blacks ...
HOW can components be so expensive, and yet customer service is so bad.
Because these companies came about after a time where great customer service was the norm. Life as your grandfather used to know it isn’t that way anymore.

"Good" Music
That would be anything before 1980.
Tin Pan Alley and Thanks to You- which speakers play the tap on the snares the best?
Electrostatic, for certain. And think Jazz drummers.
Do most people prefer tight bass or non tight bass?
Absolutely tight, but a natural sounding bass. As if an actual jazz upright bass player is in the room. I’ve only heard that from an OB speaker I used to own that had 15” bass drivers that were created specifically for OB speakers. The thunk, the ...
Integrated that blew you away
A $700 (used to me) tube amplifier by Willsenton that takes 4 KT88 or 4 EL34 tubes. That’s what I call bang for buck!
Has anyone switched from Class AB/A to Class D? Was it better? Was it worse?
Heck no. I stick with what has worked my entire life. Class A, and Class A/B. I don’t need to experiment with some new Class simply because it’s new. Some of are satisfied with tube amps, or Class A or A/B. Done are we.
What artists can you not get enough of?
Miles Davis John Coltrane  Wes Montgomery  Most anything Jazz
