Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs: Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma". I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?
Oh man, ozzy, Quicksilver's version of "Pride Of Man" (a Hamilton Camp song) is KILLER! They were good live too, one of the best SF bands of the late-60's.
Steely Dan - "Gaucho" from YouTube via my new Auris BluMe bluetooth receiver. Have to play it from YouTube cause I don't own the LP (yet). But my birthday is tomorrow and I can always hope, right.......
In no particular order, and all on vinyl: Lana Del Rey- Lust for Life Destroyer- Ken Robert Plant- Carrying Fire The Clientele- Music for the Age of Miracles Tower of Power- Tower of Power Late Night Tales- BadBadNotGood collection Queens of the Stone Age- Villains R.E.M.- Automatic for the People Charlotte Gainsbourg- Rest Joe Walsh- Barnstorm J.J. Cale- Grasshopper Sturgill Simpson- Metamodern Sounds in Country Music Neil Young- Hitchhiker LCD Soundsystem- American Dream The War on Drugs- A Deeper Understanding The National- Sleep Well Beast Gillian Welch- The Harrow and the Harvest David Crosby- If I Could Only Remember My Name Elton John- Tumbleweed Connection Tennis- Yours Conditionally Thundercat- Drunk Bjork- Utopia ... this is all from recent weeks, always changing as so much excellent new stuff is released.
I like to thank others for recommendations that result in a purchase.
Your recommendation of Marty Stuart "Way Out West" is on it’s way to me. I'm going to have a late Christmas... I've ordered around $500 already ..got over 1K in my cart! Decisions.....
Thanks!
BTW, I have around 3-4 copies of "Gaucho" , I finally whittled it down to my best copy a month or so ago.
@nkonor - That MCA Audiophile pressing is getting pretty expensive. I might pony up for one, or I might try a new re-issue. I'll reply back to this thread when I get whatever copy. It's a really fantastic album IMHO.
@slaw - Happy New Year! Enjoy your new copies of "Way Out West" and "Loud Hailer". I enjoy both of them very much and both prove that it is still possible to produce interesting and good sounding recording today. And by two guys who are not spring chickens.....
@nkonor@slaw - I ended up picking up the remaster of Steely Dan "Gaucho" at my LRS yesterday as a Birthday gift to myself. I'm listening to it now and it sounds very good. I would have liked to pick up the MCA Audiophile pressing, but a bird in the hand, and clean, new vinyl won out.
12/31/2017 They had 80's video games as the theme for the night. So cool that they stream for free on YouTube and keep up there. concert link: https://youtu.be/9t5aHi9wCT0
