Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs: Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma". I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?
Fantastic album, reubent! Ray Davies 1966-8 trilogy of "Face To Face", "Are The Village Green Preservation Society", and "Something Else By" are as good as anybody's peak output.
@bdp24 - Thanks. Yep, "Village Green" is excellent. It has special meaning for me now as I live in a tiny village that has a vibrant Village Green that hosts many village functions and celebrations throughout the year. It's a special place and I hope it stays that way. Guess I'm a preservationist!
@slaw and All, If you like Chris Hillman, The Byrds and Tom Petty, you should check out Roger McGuinn's "Back From Rio". Hillman and David Crosby join in, as well as a little Tom Petty and Elvis Costello. It's an awesome album. McGuinn's guitar sounds awesome too. Great songs, well recorded. Really good stuff......
The more I thought about it, I remembered buying that cd years ago when my main vehicle had a cd player in it. I’d buy cds I was interested in from the record clubs. If I liked them, I’d buy the lp, then the other ones I’d sell to the used book store and at least, break even. I found it today.
Queen, News of the World One of my favorite bands. Brian May is an Astrophysicist. I attended a show in Cincinnati when I was younger while Freddie was in his prime! What a show.. One of my favorite songs here, it's one you'll will ever hear on the radio. "Sleeping on the sidewalk" https://youtu.be/ZZyhS5beQc8
Experience Hendrix (get it?) - The Best of Hendrix, the family remasters, remastered by Eddie Kramer. Whoa!! Don’t ever go against the family. Kra-mer!!
nothing. Wife is hogging living room watching TV so I am listening to my secondary system. Listening to FM radio at present. Armegedding It is playing by Def Lepperd
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, S/T. 1976 "American Girl" which closes out the disc, has in the 40 years since become a classic-rock radio staple. The song updates the idea of American Folk, incorporating rock's muscle and swagger even as Petty's lyrics keep it utterly grounded in workday humanity.
More Tom P. and the Heartbreakers, "Refugee" "Free Fallin'" "I Won't Back Down"
