Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
That's interesting Joel.  I wonder if that's a common issue?  It seems like most of the copies available are in Europe and expensive.  I looked at a few different versions on Discogs and couldn't find any comments about playback, but most versions seem to be rated 4-4.5 out of 5 stars.  Maybe we just got unlucky.  I might try another copy.
the AC guys had to move my right speaker and monoblock
Jim, I had AC guys unscrewing sheetrock over my walnut 401 and putting the dusty screws on the freakin' plinth. I called them out and they moved them to the freakin' pool table. Ugh.
Anna Maria Alberghetti – Songs By Anna Maria Alberghetti (Mercury Wing 1960)
oh man, my heart rate went up ten points just hearing that Brian..

lucky our guys were great, it’s all working now - mini split on 3 of the 5 house levels…just in time for fall. It is pretty quiet, one of these nights i will see if i can verify the 21 db claim

@bkeske, you just reminded me that I need to track down McMurtry’s “Too Long in the Wasteland” on vinyl. I was managing a record store in 1989 when that came out and I had the cd on repeat in the shop for weeks!
@j_husker
I’ve found all my vinyl replacements are better than my CD versions. Of course I don’t have a digital rig set-up like @tomic601

In every case, especially with my vinyl rig now, LP’s just sound ‘right’; More natural, with better timbre and tone.

I won’t replace them all, but the more important ones? Yes, when I can or if they are available.
Manfred Mann "Watch"

All this talk on Mayall, I had to play them.

John Mayall  "Blues From Laurel Canyon"  A second trip through the Degritter has helped quite a bit.  The quietest song on the album though, First Time Alone, is the noisiest.  Darn...  But what a great album.  And mine, after all, is an English pressing.

John Mayall  "John Mayall & Friends"  And what friends they are on this album.  Peter Green, Gary Moore, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Billy F Gibbons, Steve Miller, John McVie, and several others.  These cuts were made in 2001 and the album (at least in vinyl) was released last year.  Unless I am mistaken, I know that I was on the waiting list for several months.  This pressing is made in Germany and the vinyl is very quiet, the plating/pressing is excellent, and the overall SQ is about as good as it gets without having to pay for 1-Step, IMHO.
@mammothguy54

  "John Mayall & Friends"

I’ve had my eyes on that one too. Almost all my Mayall collection is pre-80’s, but I’ve head some of his newer releases are very good. Should just check them out on Tidal I guess, to take a listen.
2 Long in the Wasteland is a long running favorite of mine - I pirated it to cassette, never owner the CD. i bought the vinyl this year. Steve said it’s digital, which i believe..sort of early digital of the day  but i still enjoy it. I have been streaming his new one…he still has the wry turn of phrase and ability to pack a life story into a 4 minute song…
Name  “A great life!  A glorious death!”  Self released 1981

Cam Newton “Welcome Aliens”  Inner City 1980

Lora Logic  “Wonderful Offer”  Rough Trade 1981
+1  Frank Zappa, One Size Fits All.
"Arf, she said." Musically and SQ one of his best.
@big_greg, @mammoutguy54,

RE: "Blues From Laurel Canyon"
I seem to recall my pp has a surprisingly clean jacket but the vinyl is noisy. I need to check it out.

@tomic601

+1 on "Too Long in the Wasteland" and your sentiments on McMurtry in general. Have you tried "Complicated Game"? That may be favorite and I kick myself daily for not snagging the vinyl when it was available for about $20. Good luck finding one now at any price.

I ordered another copy (different pressing) of Blues From Laurel Canyon from Europe.  Taking one for the team... I'll report back.
Sheffield D2D Prokofiev “Romeo and Juliet” ballet highlights.
Erich Leinsdorf, Conductor.
sonically amazing.
Has to be heard to be believed!

Thomas Jefferson – Dreaming Down The River To New Orleans (Southland 1962)

Awesome album. Recommended.
Aldous Harding – Party (4AD 2017)

This has grown on me. Nice intimate close-miked vocal and musically sparse recording. Recommended.
I Robot-1977 Arista

James’ dad Larry is a pretty good storyteller as well…
Just checked out my "Blues From Laurel Canyon" lp. It's an EU/Decca/ffss/stereo

Looks like it should clean up well. I should get to it soon.
A friend gave me a box of records last night. On initial first look I thought they might all be heading to the garbage can but so far the first one I played seems to be in decent shape, other than that it needed a real good cleaning first.

Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
Ha! Greg - Love that album…

back when I was mayor of a small city, I called my weekly facilities meeting same as album title… a collection of more sad songs.. about Buildings and food
+2 for "More Songs About Buildings and Food"

Autistic Daughters / Uneasy flowers
That's awesome Jim!  I'm playing the second record of the Coltrane compilation I mentioned yesterday.
