and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

From a crate of recent hand-me-down records from a family friend. Haven't heard this record in a very long time. Fortunately this one is in really good condition.

Polica - Zenyatta Mondatta.....

drum impact and shimmering guitar chords are just better than my OP...
@tomic601  - I gotta say, I enjoyed "Tubular Bells" a lot more than I was expecting. I didn't remember it being so diverse. I kinda remembered it being very one dimensional. It's not.

@stevewisc, nice haul!   I have that Beethoven cycle but had to pay probably $10 ....

do keep posting about the rest please.  Fun to hear.
@spiritofradio,

Thanks, I will. I thought so too.

They were all on the bottom two shelves of a bookshelf which I have walked past many times and never noticed. Very dusty lol.

Revisiting Neil Young’s early stuff.....Harvest, After the Goldrush and his self titled LP - Neil Young.
Just got this in the mail today. Bought it on eBay from an Agoner @elliottbnewcombjr

Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark. Asylum, I think 1974, but not confirmed, yet.
Nice job by Elliott, very very nice copy.

Elliott’s eBay member name - uncle.wins.music-1
@bkeske  I have that same 1974 Court Spark, on Asylum Records.  Bought it new, back then, and it is in perfect condition.  Later on I picked up a Nautilus copy.  I think the original is a little better sounding on the midrange.  But the Nautilus is quieter vinyl.  I'm glad to have both.  The 1974 jacket has a wonderful raised letter design of the title and Joni Mitchel, while the Nautilus copy does not.  Enjoy your original copy, it's wonderful music, and I believe Joni at her very best.
@mammothguy54

Yea, thanks. I should have been working, but when it arrived, I had to play it. Trying to find out exactly when this copy was released via Discogs, but there are some oddities on my label and run-out that just don’t Mach-up with the others listed thus far. It does have the raised lettering, and per the label number, I do think it’s a 1974 copy. The 1976 reissues (and others with the same catalog number) had a different label entirely.

It sounds fantastic, yes a bit of surface noise, but I can deal with some of that. I only have Joni otherwise on a European box set of all her studio albums up until the late 70’s. Great set, and I enjoy it a lot, but man, listening to this on vinyl is incredible. As always, just ‘sounds right’. I’m trying to find those others on vinyl as well as I can.
@bkeske

There is a reissue of Joni Mitchel "Blue" that is superb in every way; music, sonically, excellent vinyl.  It was on backorder for months and I recently received my copy.  There are probably more available, still, at Acoustic Sounds and Elusive Disc.  Not terribly expensive, I think it was $24.  Excellent, early Joni.
Best to you.

RoundAgain

Absolutely terrific sonics on this Nonesuch record.  The music has a nice balance between angularity and ease and is without new age softness.  You’ll love it even if you’re not that into Post Bop Jazz.

I'm glad you are pleased, Joni is terrific.

USPO has been very late, I shipped one on Dec. 3rd. still not delivered. Not my fault, but I decided to give the buyer a surprise full refund, if it shows up, they are welcome to it.

@elliottbnewcombjr

Thanks Elliott, getting ready to spin the Richie Havens a bit later.

No problem on the shipping, I was expecting slower than normal.
Really like the Joni a lot. Thanks again 👍🏼
Last night was Smetana.  Tonight Berlioz.  Have a few recordings I haven't listened to yet.

Unbelievable Sound Quality:  Modern Vinyl production can be very good.

whenever i get down near the box sets near the floor at the thrift shops....I worry about getting back up, so I leave all those dusty mysteries alone......for you youngsters
streaming Lighthouse James

remembering catching him live at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley...

My other album from Elliott which arrived today....

Richie Havens - Something Else Again. MGM Records, reissue 1970, originally 1967.
Brian,

I bought several RH lps at a record show a few years ago, all were from the same owner as he left his writing on the labels and jackets. My copy is Verve FT-3034.
The vinyl is in great shape.
Cool Steve, that would be the original release. All the 1967 releases were on Verve.

love Richie, love his sound.
Streaming “Tarkio Road”.   This is great nostalgia.  Have to confess Tom, never thought of this as AOR but it sounds good.
@tomic601 Crosby at Freight & Salvage, nice. I was gone from the Bay Area by the time of that tour - w Lighthouse Band? W Becca? I did catch CSN a year or two prior at the Marin Civic. Got to hang out with the three of them (individually, they didn’t really speak to each other) for a few hours in the afternoon before the show. Anyway, Crosby told me about the touring band he was assembling with the guy from Snarky Puppy, et. al. and he was really jazzed about it. I guess we found out why. I remember asking him if they were going to include “Page 43” in their set and he just lit up out of his pre-show funk. It was so cool to be able to tell him how much his music meant to me throughout my life. Of course this happens to him every hour of every day so... meant a lot to me though.
Arlo Guthrie - Hobo’s Lullabye. Reprise 1972

Checking out some new speaker cables that just arrived today, and a ten foot IC as I moved the Belles amp on the floor between the Vandy’s to keep length down. Wow, these are nice. Custom made bi-wire speaker cable from 1950’s NOS 10GA Western Electric wire. The IC from NOS 1940’s Western Electric wire. Great deal and sound from these. Very pleased thus far.
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly. WB reissue 1983 (1982).

My ‘go to’ album anytime I make a substantial change to the rig.
James - Croz was solo but he talked at length about how excited he was to work w Snarky Puppy
@spiritofradio  - I had never hear the complete album -  Brewer and Shipley - "Tarkio" or "Tarkio Road" until I found a sealed copy last year in my LRS used record bins for $5.99. Since I was familiar with "One Toke Over the Line", I grabbed it. Turns out to be a really good folks rock album. And my NOS copy sounds fantastic.
