Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@bkeske Nice Box. Got mine for $7 on your recommendation and you’re right about the great Sonics. I feel like I can hear the seams and varnish in the wood floors of the hall.

@sbank @reubent

Let It Be Naked has all the Phil Spector overproduction stripped out.  I think Paul McCartney took the lead on the Naked version.  Much better IMO.
Spencer, wasn’t the rooftop concert really great?   The reactions from the crowd on the street were priceless.

Nils Lofgren - Acoustic Live sides 3/4    Wow!

OK, after a return to some of my digital collection, back to some vinyl (and can’t wait to do so). Haven’t listed to this for a while, and always a favorite of mine, as it was recorded very nicely. Will go through the entire collection.

I also, finally, signed-up for a photo service, so, will be including more photos in the future.

The Classics Record Library 1975 4LP box.

@big_greg

Noticed you played Alchemy by Dire Straits last night. How would you rate the performance and sound quality? Alchemy and On Every Street are the Dire Straits recordings missing on cd or vinyl in my collection.

@sbank Streaming Eva Cassidy. I must admit I did not know she passed 25 years ago. Brought a tear to the soul.

Her last performance.

@mwinkc

Yes, Todd Rundgren was a true genius of the time with the first three sides of the albums instruments and vocals performed by him solo in the studio.

Coincidently he also produced Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell album.

"Heaven...I'm in heaven..." My preorder hit my mailbox on release date yesterday. The original master was digital, so this is the best they're gonna do.

Eva Cassidy – Live At Blues Alley
Label:    Blix Street Records – G8-10218
Format:
2 x Vinyl, LP, 45 RPM, 180

Happy Saturday ! Streaming all the music y’all played last eve…. Josie ! Bill i missed that one also….

@reubent Yeah, watching GET BACK inspired me to play it twice recently. I like the more stripped down versions which remind me quite a bit of scenes in the show. Pretty satisfying on vinyl...I don't feel the urge to buy the new anniversary version, though plenty tout it's merits.

Friday workday background:

Paul Paray Conducts Debussy*, Detroit Symphony Orchestra – La Mer / Iberia
Label:    (Mercury Living Presence)

Dvořák*, Kertesz*, London Symphony* – Symphony No. 2 In B Flat Major
Label:    (London FFRR)

@sbank - Hey Spencer. I'd never heard of the "Naked" remix of "Let it Be". Had to goggle it and read the Wiki page. I'll give it a shot via streaming...

Thanks, and Happy Weekend...

The White Stripes – My Sister Thanks You And I Thank You The White Stripes Greatest Hits

@tgib, great album.

Something/Anything was the first album I bought to play on my first good stereo system. The Todd's music had so much detail and so many different percussion touches....it was ahead of it's time. He may have been a Runt back then, but he was indeed a Wizard.. a True Star. lol

Buddy demoing the his new Canor Integrated last night & sending me pics of him installing KT88s inspired me to fire the TT. Limited session but pretty great nonetheless. Johnny Jenkins, "Ton-Ton Macoute" - always a funky treat & Bill Wilson, "Ever Changing Minstrel". Streamed JJ Grey & Mofro, "Brighter Days Live" played way too loud to close the night ; )

Josie Cotton / “Convertible Music”
2020 Kitten Bomp orig. 1982 Electra
Can’t believe I missed this one 40 years ago…😎

Grandaddy / Sumday
2003 V2 Records
Great, spacey small venue show back in the day, opened with the Starlight Mints.

Went through my stack of Beatles 45’s tonight.

A lot of work with 3 minute songs on each side, but worth it!

Boz Scaggs: "Dig"

He pays more attention to sound quality on this album compared to others I've heard, and the tracks are quite diverse...a departure from the more pop oriented music he's known for.

Lately, I've been streaming it often, so tonight I got out the vinyl 2 disk set and was amazed at the increased detail I was hearing.

Vices…and …Habits… and Discogs access..24/7/365….. indeed, just ordered it….Japan, Germany, USA ?…..

What a sweet album….brings a tear to my old eye…was a kid when i heard this on FM….glowing tubes….

@dayglow  - I love "Eyes of Silver" and "Down in the Track". "Another Park, Another Sunday" ain't bad either. Oh, and closing with "Flying Cloud" is brilliant too..

Happy Weekend!

@reubent

Yes it is! Forgot how good "Eyes Of Silver" is. This is one of a few bands where its very difficult to pick a favorite album or even song.

@dayglow

The Doobie Brothers-What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits

Worth upgrading to a better copy. This is a great record IMHO.

Poco-A Good Feelin' To Know Side 1

Emmy Lou Harris-Quarter Moon In A Ten Cent Town Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Steven Stills-Live Acoustic Side

The Marshall Tucker Band-Together Forever Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Peter, Paul And Mary-Late Again Side 1

Hank Williams JR.-Whiskey Bent And Hell Bound Side 1

The Doobie Brothers-What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Oak Ridge Boys-Greatest Hits 2 Side 2

Turned out to be an "Americana" music night. Marshall Tucker Band gets the SQ crown tonight which was mastered by Bernie Grundman. "Vices" is also excellent in SQ my thrift store (early pressing) copy needs upgrading.

Bruce Forman - Reunions ( limited thru his FB page ).. highly recommended if ya like hollow body jazz guitar w drums, bass…

The Moody Blues - "Caught Live +5"

Last listen was 35-40 years ago. Must be a reason? Let's see...

Eurythmics - Not For Sale. This is a Japanese promo compilation. Pretty cool.

Oingo Boingo  -  Only A Lad   Very early pp I have had since it first was released.  Not many plays on it, perfect condition.  Danny Elfman is a genius!

Once  -  A movie soundtrack, I think the only movie soundtrack that I own.  However, this one isn't worth keeping, a real dud.  The best thing about the album is the picture of the actress, Marta Kristen, on the back cover.  Marta was best known as Judy, on the 60s TV program, Lost In Space.  She is a beautiful girl.

Pink Floyd  -  Meddle   Mentioned several times here on the thread so I had to play it.  My copy is a Pink Floyd Records reissue.  They did a superb job with this.

Steve - Yes, the Crooked Still LP you sent me so generously is a sonic wonder ;-)

i didn’t know about 2 LP version either… argh….our obsession is a full time job..

I also see Railroad Earth has 2 x LP available now for preorder 4/22 delivery if memory serves….

Strawbs - Bursting At The Seams 1973 A&M Records

The Pogues - Hell’s Ditch 1990 Island Records on AAD version CD

Just noticed a dbl lp available with second lp being acoustic. Wasn’t aware when I pre-ordered mine. If I remember correctly,  the Crooked Still lp has great SQ as well.
