The guys from Schitt Audio talk candidly in a way that is almost abnormal for manufacturers. I found it informative, hilarious at times, and totally refreshing.
Well, the principals are pretty serious about their products and marketing strategy (making products in the USA while offering them at insane low pricing rivaling only what a Chinese company can offer).
Be offended.
You don’t have to buy their products because of their name.
I have no bias about the name of the company. I have no bias against the products. And Second City as a comedy club could do better with less offensive comedy routines, but even that doesn’t bother me. To each his own.
Offensive is in the eye of the beholder, and the offended beholder is generally unaware of the real world or prefers to not have their "church lady" reality bubble punctured by uncensored wit...Carlin, Lenny Bruce, nearly every great comic out there today, all funny to those not chained to the post of ignorance and piety.
Just got my saga in last night. Haven't had a chance to hook it up yet, but my oh my I am impressed with the build quality. It's bigger than I thought, as well as very heavy. This is a substantial unit. If it sounds as good as it looks, I will be in for a treat.
tomcarr"I am a Christian and love my Schiit Freya."
That is wonderful does Jesus provide your warrantee or is one not needed because he will properly bless it so that it does not require repair, service or maintenance?
Clearthink, try not to stoop to bigotry. Surely in this forum I should think there’s room for Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Christians and such without people taking shots at their various holy men.
Do you recall which speakers they were using at the show?
It's my opinion that the name got the company the initial recognition necessary in a very crowded and sometimes confusing market. They have however continued to grow and excel with excellent products. Had the quality been lacking, they would have already went belly up. Just my thoughts.
Steve Guttenburg the audiophiliac is raving about the new Magnapan LRS and especially when paired with the Vidar. That combo has me drooling, and it’s actually affordable.
I modded my Schitt. I replaced the Wima coupling caps (4) with Jantzen Audio 2.2uF 800V Z-Superior Capacitors in my Freya. NOS Sylvanias helped a lot. Not broken in yet but it sounds very sweet if that makes sense.
Just added a Schiit Modi Multi DAC via BJC digital coax to my Oppo 103. Was hoping to reduce the slight brightness of the 103 that I hear in my system. I was not disappointed. Very happy with my Freya and now the Modi Multi.
After about 15 hours of playtime, the sound opened up. It's absolutely amazing. My wife walked in and was very impressed. Hard to describe. Like putting your glasses on. Everything is in focus. An easy mod to perform also. The only thing left is to replace the high voltage rectifier bridge with a discrete hexfred bridge. I also put an rf remote control on the Freya's outlet. Came with a key chain remote.
I've also put a cousin of the 6SN7 in the voltage amplifier positions. Initial thoughts are wow. They're still breaking in. The other day my wife actually wanted to know how to turn everything on so she could listen when I'm not at home. I've been married 6 years and that's the first time she's asked.
