Oh please... what's this, the latest conspiracy theory?
something is not right here and it's on purpose!!!
lf you have the same source master on remastered digital and 1st press vinyl with the same volume, the digital sounds louder and more distorted with more intensity + is there anyway to remove that intensity from remastered digital because it sound like the audio has been run through a distortion pedal? How could legendary producers and mixers not hear this crap?

Look, its one thing to knock digital. Any medium that starts off as "perfect sound forever" then spends the next 40 years pretending to be objectively better than vinyl while at the same time reserving 'analog like' as its highest goal is just unbelievably richly deserving of being knocked senseless on a regular basis. But even I won't compare it to a distortion pedal, let alone accuse legendary engineers of crap. In short guitarsam you have lost it. If indeed you ever did have it. |
Sam here how do you explain the fact that you can rip a 1st press vinyl album to digital and the sound is the same and when the record company does the same thing with the actual source it’s all distorted and unlistenable lnxs kick 1987 1st press vinyl dynamic range 14 lnxs kick 2010 digital remaster mixed by bob clearmountain dynamic range 6 and unlistenable! how could that not be on purpose? It makes mono AM radio sound - audiophile. Dynamic range will decrease until someone issues a recording with 0db of dynamic range. We will have successfully achieved silence. |
Ok Sam there, are you any relation to kenjit? Like an alter Ego, or Uncle Festers other Brother, you know the REAL different one. He's so different you never heard of him. His name was Sam There... Any relation to Sam Here? Sam you crack me up.... Adams Family hot line.. 1-800-XXX-XXXX Ext 13 You Rang??? Regards |
Sam here and everything i said is a proven fact? to djones51https://i.postimg.cc/D0szfcXL/qwerty.png lf a remastered cd is unlistenable and it was mixed / produced by rick rubin or bob katz ot robert ludwig or bob clearmountain who do we put the blame on? lf the digital version sounded the same as the vinyl version nobody would buy vinyl? lf the digital version sounds so much worse who do we put the blame on friends? to carpathian 1 everything resonates at a frequency and frequency = sound and paper is made out of wood which resonates at a tone that improves the sound of digital audio dramatically FACT i even provided sound samples my ears don’t lie |
You need to broaden your horizons. http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/164117 http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/138867 Though I do agree they are unlistenable. |

Michael Hutchence would be rolling in his grave. I have the very best of INXS, I'll go fire it up, hopefully not too overcooked. djones51 I don't know what you're talking about.Did you get you 24/192 from HD tracks, or streamed? |
I remember when CD was introduced, Sony/Philips set the fixed output level at 2 volts, whereas at the time the standard fixed output on tape-decks and phono stages etc was, as standard, 1.2v. Many reviewers at the time pointed out that this allowed retailers (remember them?) to demonstrate (remember those?) the "superior sound" by simply switching between sources. Of course the CD sounded better, it was much louder. The increase in volume was, of course, a marketing ploy. The 2v output did allow the use of a passive pre-amp as the signal level could be attenuated rather than boosted by an active pre .I don't use a streamer so I can't comment on the output of such devices, but all the digital sources I do use have variable outputs which I can set so that the speaker level stays the same regardless of source. I know that some people use in-line attenuators to match source output levels. As far as "remasters" are concerned, they aren't always better than the original, I read, sometime ago that an album by a famous rock group had been remastered, the engineers responsible bragged that they had managed (with considerable effort over several days) to remix it with the drum kit more forward in the mix, but that it was worth it to get an album of tracks more representative of the bands original intention. Hurrahs all round!!! Better sounding and more like the band had wanted. In the next paragraph a member of the group (still extant after all those years) indignantly pointed out that when they were mixing the original release they had spent several days working to get the drums to the back of the mix as they sure as hell didn't want them at the front!!! he continued by advising fans not to buy the album as it was rubbish! Needless to say the engineers remixing the album had never thought to involve the group. |

Sam here and no i don’t get ripped off by the HDTracks scam? my post processing technics result in superior sound quality to anything you could get from HDTracks and i'm using 16/44 not hi-res. Sound quality has very little to do with file size if you know what your doing. l don’t use the paper anymore carpathian1 i use a new technic i developed called earth frequency encoding and it is superior to all other commercial digital audio as well as vinyl in the respect that with vinyl you hear the audio but it does not resonate with the listener like my earth frequency encoding does.l don’t need to build an expensive system a simple $100 doller solid state amp and a desent set of 2-3 $hundred doller speakers and a cheap flac audio player playing my earth frequency encoded audio and the underdog wins the battle for dam sure friends! i will post some earth frequency encoded audio samples if i need to and the truth will be exposed friends. when i talk about 1st press vintage vinyl i’m talking mainly about any vinyl released before the digital age as remastered vinyl has been manipulated to have mono depth perception and 1st press vinyl has stereo depth perception. |
jweilers19 posts08-02-2020 8:45pmI have started to not even look at the post’s anymore.. so sad I feel like the posters are in 9th grade and just started at Radio Shack, not attacking this person, yet what happened to the audiophiles?? Really? Let me help you out here.. Look up Sams forums. He is wonderful contributor to the Outer limits community. As for the audiophile peoples. You know "My Peps", pick your "protect the week (not weak)", battles a little better. Sam is in control of the vertical, Sam is in control of the horizontal and of the "Outer limits" But he can’t get control of his, RIPPER. He rips this, and rips that, but just won’t listen to what he’s RIPPIN’ from.. That’s the ONLY problem. Quit messin’ with the order of things.... Listen to the Vinyl, stop messin', and you'll quit stressin'. OK.... Quit trying to make chicken soup out of chichen sh$t. SAM.... BTW there is no Radio Shack, not for the last 5 or so years, ay. I’ll tune in next week to see the new episode. Thanks Sam, same time same station, ay.. Time to feed the chickens. Regards |
The reason that people can't hear distortion is that there is NO real "standard hearing test." As a person who majored in experimental psych, I can state that the only real studies of hearing are by the government to determine their needs. Most people in the USA are not capable of even hearing "distortion," as you put it, as it isn't a STANDARD provable in the market place. It is a thing which certain people, (sound of me clearing my throat...) determined to become self proclaimed audio gods, claim that they alone can hear DESPITE THE EQUIPMENT THEY LOVE TO DOUBT's claim that there is lower distortion than they or any other human can hear. I am done with the "super human" claims that ONLY THEY can hear better than any record, recording or input method ever devised. Give me a break. |

nitroxpro The reason that people can’t hear distortion is that there is NO real "standard hearing test."Huh? People most certainly can hear distortion, and that ability has nothing to do with standardized testing. By the way, extensive hearing studies have been done throughout audio history, from early experiments at Bell Labs to those that have been part of developing the mp3 codec and other lossy audio formats. As a person who majored in experimental psych, I can state that the only real studies of hearing are by the government to determine their needs ...You might want to get out of academia and into the real world. |
To make this more meaningful. Could any of the cable naysayers (that would be those who dismiss Radio Shack cables as worthless) compare her/his interconnects with the following ones? https://www.radioshack.com/products/3-ft-stereo-patch-cable?variant=20331862085 No explanation needed. Just an honest evaluation. To paraphrase some of the naysayers, if you have not tried them you are just bringing bad spirit based on your prejudice. (Disclaimer: I own and have compared these Radio Shack cables to the cables of same use priced in $400-500 range) |
No details needed. It's exactly as is stated.I was hoping that there might at least be some mystique, like only working with cryogenically treated paper from Western Electric notepads.......: |
glupson5,921 posts08-03-2020 7:24pmPut a CD on a turntable. Sounds funny, but not a bad idea, for being a bad idea.. Now how do I make it work, badly? ;-) I says vinyl is vinyl and Cds is Cds, mate!! Let me wind up the ol Victrola. Regards |
"...the secret of how to encode a digital signal with analog?" "Newly developed by Sony, the Vinyl Processor feature recreates via some clever processing, the acoustic phenomenon unique to vinyl playbacks such as the tone-arm resonance, tiny surface noise and the rich sound from the vibration by acoustic feedback from the speakers to the turntable." Sorry samjit, they got there first. https://www.porta-fi.com/sony-announces-autumn-update-for-wm-1z-wm-1a-and-zx300/ |
