New Look for Audiogon hard to work with

Is there a way to undo the "tile" look? It was a lot easier to work with the text list.

"Wow, this is very user unfriendly."

Yep, best way to describe it is, like a monkey **cking a football.

hello everyone, Audio "goners":
it's no use griping.
Audiogon management would always expect us to gripe as usual. after some time, the mgmt would see us to get use to it (sooner or later)
unless we do something more than just complaining.
You really screwed the pooch with this update. Just terrible. I search and get a bunch of totally non-related stuff. So hard to use. Ugh. Why do you want to chase people away?
The search system is really an array of failures.  For example I search "ps audio" and the TOP RESULTS are relevant, but limited to only 8!  Lord knows that I'm looking for all of the PS Audio gear and really most interested in the NEW ones.  Secondly the SIMILAR RESULTS are literally anything with "PS" and "AUDIO" in it.  Klipsch is all over the results because kliPSch.  Not to mention there are 154pages of results including all that "AUDIO" music albums, not to mention no 200/page list view.  ::facepalm::  Again... really should have done some proper testing.  It's 2018, not 1998.
Yesterday I warned Audiogon that their new picture based system was a big mistake. I have been in the IT field for years. Simple is always better.
They responded by saying that they would only change it if they
had enough complaints. NOT a good message from any company
to one of the clients. They made the classic mistake in IT. They had a young programer who can't read create a picture system instead of
hiring some of their users to advise them on simplicity.
I do like the they improved their search engine. The old one was right out of the 1980's.
OK... this was stated above:

My response:
I will not list again on the site nor will I purchase anything from the site unless they fix their stupidity. Not sure I could get use to it because is simply doesn't work as I need it to.

Also saw this above:

My response:
Have you not been reading the posts? No one is getting the search engine to work properly now. Just because they say they fixed it doesn't mean they did. I didn't have many issues with the old search engine.

I had two listings end the night before this mess and I surely won't be relisting now. US Audio Market hmmm? I have no problem fomenting insurrection after this blatant arrogance.
I agree new format is awful. Searches are the most UN USER friendly I have ever seen. Old format was fast and efficient while new one is like stepping in quicksand at night.  Bogged down, can’t find a thing.
Please return former design.
Agree, the text list was much easier to read. Can we have the old format back, please!
those sellers in the midst with their items listing for sale right now, i wonder what they have to say.. ??
Please restore the site to something that works. Not only is the new interface ill conceived, it just doesn't work. Someone should be fired over this debacle. Its impossible to see all the listings for any given brand. Like many, I strongly prefer the "old" list view but as a buyer and a seller, I cannot tolerate a search function that cannot search. Audiogon's response was "this is what members wanted". Really???
Echo all of the above, user experience has been significantly downgraded, the list view was much easier to scan.  It seems like the search results are incomplete and grouped incorrectly also with keyword vs. similar items result sets.

We really want to thank you for your feedback on the Search and Listing View changes. There were a few technical glitches with the search functionality, and we will be working quickly to rectify those to be more accurate. We will be introducing the ability to switch between the Classic View and the new Grid View in the coming days so that users have control over their preference. We appreciate your patience. Again, thank you for your support of Audiogon and for your honest opinion on this matter.
Sorting is also totally broken, has no function.  Selecting a sorting method causes a refresh but zero change to the search results in either Top results or Similar results.  Just go back to the old UI already.
"Update" is a complete failure.  Obligatory keyhole images are absurd!  This looks like a project from some college kid graphic designer.  Impossible to navigate effectively.  After years of using Audiogon, today I just gave up.  The new format is not worth attempting.
Audiogon is a tool and should be implemented to use a such. Cute, slick and edgy are antithetical.
OMG... i am getting a migraine just looking at this!! change for the sake  of change =not good!!!!!

Audiogon, give the option of the way it looked before!!    at the very least!!
The first Bandwidth (Boost) charge.  1/10 of 1 cent per view of your own paid-for ad.  Isn't that what the listing fee is supposed to cover - viewing (not obscuring) of your ad?   We pay sales commission (percentage-of-sale) for a CLASSIFIED AD.  As consumers,  we should expect all perks be included, not excluded.  What is the percentage-of-sale fee for anyway, if not that?

Would be nice if the New Listing option , would be available again when searching specific brands.
Part of my email response to Audiogon read...
"If you can introduce a 100% classic view by tomorrow you might get most of the Audiogon user base to come back. Here's the kicker... Classic View needs to be default and this new screwed up view needs to be the OPTION and not the other way around. By having the classic view be the OPTION and not the other way around that's basically saying "We heard you community but we don't give a flying f*ck about your preference"."

Audiogon responded...
"Well said.
Passing along your comments to the Powers to be.
Trust me, we are working on getting things back to normal."

Hopefully this is a good sign that all of our protest is not falling on deaf ears and that we'll be back to normal soon. Let's all cross our fingers and hope for the best.
I finally come to this thread to join the complain. The change is very bad. Same as other people here, I can not do a meaningful search any more. And the search result contains a bigger "similar" match section, don't know the purpose. The result I want used to be a full row listing I can scan through, now I have to go through many clicks and pages. I wonder who designed this new look and who approved this new look. Hard to use.

Please at least allow people can "switch" or "toggle" between the original listing result page or the new look. Sad to not using this site anymore.
All of the comments in this thread embody the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". This current "upgrade" was not an upgrade in anyway.

Now, since it is broke, please revert to the very useful search that was working just fine.
Working in software I find it curious that they didn’t just roll back until they worked out the bugs (aka the terrible design, broken search, and sorting). I know it’s a small company but I imagine the lost revenue over a holiday has to hurt way more than the egos of the people who approved this abomination.

i had never heard of audio Mart until this thread and the other one. Now I know about it and it will be my first place to search as a new comer to this market (made two audiogon purchases over the past 2 months). It looks like Audio mart has many of the same listing for what I’m looking for, so no reason to check both sites.
About the worst web site redo I have even seen.  Not user friendly , the tunnel view of the adds is distracting , your search is, well  horrible
You have work to do. .
First time posting on the Audiogon forum; however, I've been using it since 2003 to buy and sell. If they don't fix it, I'm gone and will, like many others, use US Audio Mart. It's unbelievable that when I search a brand I only get a few direct hits (never mind the stupid picture) and then have to sift through a hundred "not-whatsoever-$#*&%@#-related". Just terrible. The fact this wasn't rolled back after day one shows how out-of-touch they are.
The new thumbnails suck. It looks like you are in an outhouse or a port-a-potty looking down through the hole at the item. Nice job Audiogon. It was not broken before but it sure is now.
I have to agree with most on this one, porthole pics, really.  I already have a hard time seeing things, heck even My photos look better than that...tough to say but more stuff to usaudiomart.   Darn
I'm with pokey77, it's a mess. Please go back. Just tried to look up some speakers, and got a couple, but also a thousand unrelated things.
Thank you all for your feedback on our latest site update. We spent the week addressing technical glitches that affected filtering and browsing. In addition, search/browsing pages have been simplified based on your feedback. With these patches making search and browse stable, we are able to release the ability to choose between the Classic View you are used to and the new Grid View. Simply navigate to any search/browse page and click the View drop-down next to the Sort By Preferences to switch between the two. Your preference will be set via cookies; you will not be required to make the change every time you log in.

I've been and Audiogon user since 2000. You wouldn't know that since their first major update back in 2010 just trashed 10 years worth of data. No big deal really but it was always fun to look at the nice equipment I should have kept.

Then came the increased costs. Then the stupid auction format. Everything mirroring eBay. Now this. I too, can't stand the stupid little circles. Plus, the photo quality seems compromised. Racing downhill fast. US Audio Mart sticks to the simple format that works just like Craigslist.

It's too bad... I've missed the original Audiogon for years...
If I'm in the tube category, I do not want to see feature listings from non-tube items. Why is this so difficult to understand? Also why is there no newest items listed in the pulldown menu?

Please get rid of the port-a-potty view thumbnails. You can't see anything and they look ridiculous.

Something you guys don't seem to understand. You test this stuff out before you take it live. This is the same garbage as some years back when the new Audiogon management took over. That was a disaster and you lost many people. You are not and will never be ebay so quit trying to emulate them.
Thank you for bringing back the Classic View and listening to your core users.
Also,in the sort items menu.. ending soonest is the constant default no matter if you want date listed items first or any other option available to your liking first. I don't want to keep changing back to my preferred preference of dates listed every time I click on a  category... Please fix.
BAD, no other word to use.  Poor user interface and not very visually  appealing.

A quantum step backwards!

Just a customers perspective, if that matters. :-)
Audigon:
I'm happy to have the list view back.
But that Tile View never should have happened without Beta testing.

If you want to include a "thumbnail" view, this is the proper way to do it...

hi ,
would anyone assist me how to set the "list view" and also "date listed" by default in those search listings?  Audiogon item listing always have the Grid view display first.  i always have to manually click that top button to switch back and also select newest listing display whenever i navigate around different pages. it isn't that convenient..
is there a default setting i can "adjust" in my profile details??
thanks any kind souls please..   :  )
@philipwu   Do you have cookies disabled? When the latest changes were implemented, Audiogon stated that your search selection would be saved by the use of cookies. That would keep you from needing to select your search choice each time. I am not sure if the date listed function is supposed to work the same way or not.
Much improved.  Only complaint now is that the list view is fixed to 50.  Having a 200 or longer list view is more practical for desktop usage.
I haven’t looked at listings for a couple days but it has defaulted back to the porthole look.  Argggghhhhhhh.
