romulus pandora-cd/dac player I chose this unit over the Berkeley dacII and the AMR. Best digital I've experienced. I run direct to amps without pre-amp.
what are the Best Direct to amps Digital Players ? check out Aesthetix Romulus with volume control. Tube unit, sounds analogue! Best I've heard.
Need your expertise over 2 dac choice.... I listened to the AMR and the Aesthetix Pandora/Romulus and the Berkeley DAC in the same session. The AMR & Aesthetix are both tubed units. To my ear the Aesthetix sold me on it's very analogue presentation.

Please suggest good balanced Preamp The Aesthetix Calypso with the right tubes (nos Amperex, Mullard, Telefunken, etc) has very low noise and the sound is spectacular!
Long John Baldry I believe it's called "It Aint Easy"
Quality CD Recorder with Analog inputs, suggestion Try the Alesis Masterlink 9600. Totally versatile with a 40 gig hard drive and mastering capabilities. Sounds great as a playback unit also. Retails for $1600, but can be had all over the internet for $800. Best I've ever used. |
