Need help choosing speakers for Outlaw Audio receiver

My ancient Energy 22.2s have finally given out, so I need a new pair of speakers. I'll be playing them through an Outlaw Audio 2160 receiver. The speakers will be in a room that is 15x26 feet. They'll play only music, not part of a a/v system.

I'd like to spend no more than $1,000 per speaker, less if possible. I was considering the KEF Q7 Meta. They are right near the top of my budget and seem to get good reviews. But yesterday I saw a sale on the Monitor Audio Bronze 500s 6G for only $444 each. Previously they were going for more than $800 each. A salesman told me that Monitor Audio is discontinuing the 6G version to make way for a new 7G model. Thus, the markdown.

I'm no audiophile, so I'd like your advice Is this a good deal for Monitor Audios? Are they better, worse, the same as the KEFs I was considering?

What other models should I consider?

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Thank you for sending those reviews! I had seen the second one, but not the first.

I guess that the low price for the Monitor Audios made me suspicious that perhaps they were clunkers.

I am simply NOT a fan of anything that uses metal drivers..I'll take the organic, natural tone of coated paper & silk any day of the week...Look at the Heco Aurora 1000..You have a big room & these should fill it nicely..

@snookpatrol  -  What kind of music do you typically listen to?  And how loud do you typically play it?

I mostly listen to rock, folk, and other types of acoustic music. I don't often crank it.

Hsu CCCB 8 is interesting. Under $800 for a pair. For the full $2K maybe Tekton Pendragon.

Tekton is a great value in your price range and have great reviews.they are a value and sound great with synergy in any system.they are quite efficient in low or high power amps so if you decide to change your equipment they will still be valuable

+1 Chesky LC1.  Read the great reviews, demoed them at AXPONA 2025- yes, they sounded fantastic - an extremely rare audio bargain.

Thanks so much for the advice!

I went and listened to the KEF Q7 Metas today. I have to say, they sound really, really good.

The Monitor Audios, Tekton Lores and Chesky look like they'd be great, too. But with my lack of sound equipment experience I feel like I should hear the speakers before I buy them and these brands are not available for listening in my area. I don't want to go through the hassle of returning something I don't like.

That's why I think I'm going for the KEFs.

I’d be wary of Tekton in light of my interaction with the owner…not customer friendly.  And they are more like pro audio speakers for people who like to listen to their music loud.  For the type of music you like, the KEF’s seem to be a good match.  I love my R3 Metas.  I used to have Magnepans which are amazing for jazz and acoustic music but you would likely want a subwoofer.

I agree!
