I’m looking for new speakers that are big enough for my listening room which is 9x6 meters and my current speakers are Avantgarde uno series two loud speakers and not getting enough impact from the woofers.
I’m looking for speakers in the 30K to 20K price range.
Here’s what I would do… at that price point, buy at least two, preferable 4 more Rel 812’s and stack them to do the stereo sub line array. Bass will never be a consideration again. It will blow you away and you will have no need to add anything else. Plus, it looks cool as sh!t…
The majority of these speakers if any at all listed won’t accomplish what your looking do to based on the size of your room, the only real way to pressurize your room with bass and keeping your Pass amps is to upgrade you subs to larger ones and add room correction to dial it in.
Look into D+S tech labs Hathor speakers with built in 1000Watt subs for just under 30K you pick the wood finish, call and talk to Bill Daniels he will probably even come out to help set them up if you ask.
Get the used pair of Egglestonworks Vigintis for sale here on Audiogon (no, they are not mine, but I do own a pair). They are $19,900.
With moderate power (300 wpc), I have never, ever felt the need for a subwoofer-- pitch perfect bass-- that you can feel when it's part of the music, and very pleasant dynamics and balance overall.
Fremer really likes them too, and Mikey, well, he can be fussy.
When I heard my first horn speaker it was the Avantgarde Uno Fino. From there I went on a mission to find a great horn speaker. I came across a company called Viking Acoustic. After talking to the owner ( David Counsell) and visiting his studio I settled on Viking Acoustic Grande Voix Dual Horn speakers. All I can say is that they blew away my previous Wilson Audio and Sonus Faber Speakers. Take a look at the website and give David a call. They are phenomenal!
@shawarma Classic Audio Loudspeakers makes two speakers you might want to look at. The first is the T1 and the second the T3. They are 98dB so will be able to fill your room with a moderate amount of power (I suggest about 100 watts minimum). They are also full range and 16 Ohms. The midrange drivers have no breakups in the audio passband and are field coil powered, so they are very fast and also very smooth.
Since standing waves are an issue in any room with regular dimensions I would supplement them with a pair of subs placed asymmetrically elsewhere in the room to break up the standing waves. These subs should not be active above about 60Hz or so.
what about trading out your subwoofers and getting something like a pair of Perlisten d215s's. Given the size of the room, that might resolve the issue you are having.
shawarma, what is the ceiling height? That is certainly a larger room. To get real low end in a room that size you will need at least four 15" subwoofer drivers. You would need Trios and subwoofers. 8 or 9 foot (depends on ceiling height) Sound Labs with four 15" subwoofers will work but that is pushing you price limits. Magneplanar 20.7s will work well unless you like listening above 95 dB. You could afford those and subwoofers. Line source speakers work better in larger rooms. Their volume does not drop off as fast with distance.
