New speakers for 15*12 room powered by Lamm 1.2s?
Borresons are hard to place just like Raidho's.  They need room to come alive.  If you can't get 9' between and 3' to 5' behind the speaker, they will not be at their best.   If you want something that will be less bright that will be elite, look...
Worth repairing a Velodyne ULD-12 from the 90's?
I would only repair if it has sentimental value.  Modern subwoofers are hard to sell and get repaired.  Older ones are heavier and will be more difficult.  You might find a vintage shop that would take it for parts or might have an interest in ref...
From Rossini Apex to ????
For a sweeter midrange your should look at the Playback Designs MPD-8, Aries Cerat Kassandra, EMM Labs DA2 V2 or soon to be released V3.  I would also think MSB Premier or Reference.  All of these are going to be sweeter sounding than the dCS.  I...
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room
@dayglow I have never heard them. I will try and make a point to get to hear them at a show.   In just looked at these out on the website.  OMG they are gorgeous.  If they sound as good as they look….
Amps that don’t impersonate space heaters.
You can go class D or you can just reduce the amount of power.  Think of it this way.  Class A is 25% efficient.  So you pass is delivering 30w x2 so that means 90w x 2 is just burning off as hear.   You need 1 very good watt to drive those speak...
Streamer between Roon Nucleus Plus and DAC
I assume this means you are using a Nucleus into the old USB Stream device from PBD and are going into a PBD, Nagra or BAT DAC.  I am very familiar with that converter.  If that is the case, you may get some modest benefit from upgrading from the ...
What front end piece should I upgrade?
You experience with that DAC is not that unusual.  Wonderful unit but soft bass is a critique I have heard from more than one customer.  I would look at new or used Bricasti M3.  It is a very common upgrade for folks moving from PS Audio DACs.  Yo...
Adding tube sound to my SS system
I know the Rockna Waelight is going to have a bluetooth based volume control you can run off your phone.  I am not sure if it integrates within Roon but it may.  I am one of the Rockna dealers in the US.  I have wavedreams open right now but not t...
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room
I hear amazing things about the TADs.  I doubt you would go wrong.  I would be cautious in a small room with Borreson.  His speakers are notoriously difficult to place and don't always work well in smaller spaces.  I have had issues personally wit...
Small speaker advice
Your in a smaller room so having something that will work nearer the wall, etc... could be nice.  I am biased (as a dealer for them) but the P1.0 monitor is quite nice from Wilson-Benesch.  It is bottom ported near the stand rather than rear porte...
Listening to what we Like Instead of what we have to
Start with the speakers that are right for your room.  That is a good space.  You just need a speaker that doesn't need immense distance from the back wall.  I would also look for something with a better impedance than those Vienna Acoustics.  Tha...
List Of Small Company Tube Amps
Art Audio Canor Jadis These are three excellent ones I am not seeing on the list above
Moon 340i and Speakers
Harbeth is a very good option.  I have had a bunch in on trade from them and have generally liked them .   They are incredibly popular and if you don’t get traction in this thread asking about them, start a thread asking about them and dozens will...
New speakers for a new start?
Couple thoughts  Given that you are building from scratch, I agree vehemently in starting with speakers first.  Speakers are frequently the worst component in terms of resale  and visually the most prominent combined with being heavy, easily dama...
Moon 340i and Speakers
Like everyone else has said, those tweeters are likely the issue.  I know exactly what you are describing and I didn't buy them for that very reason when I was demoing them.   There are a lot of good options out there that will work very well wit...
