Jay, cdt2

I'm interested in buying Jay's cd transport and I 'm wondering why Jay's website has it listed for 2,499.00 and there are places on Ebay it is listed for 2,299.00 ? Are they legit ? Where did anyone else buy there's from?

Also I asked Jay's if my Cal. Audio Labs Alpa would work with it they said they think so. Does anyone know for shure before it buy it?🍻

I would never buy a $2500.00 piece of electronics from eBay.  For a lousy $300.00 more, you would have piece of mind knowing it isn’t a cheap Chinese clone and would give you a usable warranty

You can find Jays, Denafrips and other popular brands on eBay but they will not be built the same or carry the warranty as those built for the actual brand. There are variations from name brands made to different standards to resellers not connected to the actual brand. They often use substandard parts and pass them off as just as good as the original. Such is the nature of business overseas. Stick with the warranted brand.

All the best,,

Hello Spit

I purchased my Jay's cd2 mkIII from Vinshine about a month ago and I feel customer  service from Alvin is exceptional.  He's very responsive and dedicated to his customers.  As far as purchasing a Jay's on Ebay I wouldn't  take a chance with my money that's why I purchased from Alvin/ Vinshine. The little savings isn't worth the headache should things turn sour. Wishing you the best in whatever you decide.

I am considering buying a Jay’s CD2-Mk3 and I already own a Denafrips Terminator Plus DAC and Gaia DDC. From my experience I can highly recommend Alvin Chee. He is exceptional. So pleasant working with him. His gear is of high quality. His support is fabulous. Don’t get me started on eBay…

I purchased a Panasonic DB UP9000 last week from an ebay seller.  Came in a Panasonic box.  Last year I purchased a much cheaper Panasonic 4k player from Best Buy.  The boxes both look similar blue with black lettering, same symbols, etc.  Funny thing they both have Made in Czechoslovakia on the back.  Chinese, hardly.  Ebay like everything else in life is Caveat Emptor.  The new Panasonic was 600 dollars cheaper than other sites.  Plays great.  I only have 2 4k movies, first one was head and shoulders better than a BluRay, haven't tried the second one.  An old Marx bros dvd looked better than I had seen it before.

Thank you for clearing up ebay thing.  Does anybody know about the Alpha working with Jay's. Still on the fence about fixing my delta transport. Hate to spend the money and only find a marginal improvement or none at all .

All my equipment was home auditioned and i tell you I brought home many amp pre amp combo's, transports ,and dac 's. This stuff just works together. To bad there is no way to home audition Jay's.🍻

My only advice is to message Jays and ask where to purchase. I was under the impression that a direct purchase from them was possible.

I would also consider the

Mark III and the Ayon CD-T transport

Enough said, buying a Jay's from anyone other than Alvin is foolish. Not the original product, not Jay's warranty.

For Less $ you can get a beautiful top loader with a BELT DRIVE.....yeah....Just like a turntable. Awsome sound CEC TL5...........

Thanks for the kind words & recommendation, I appreciate it.

Many thanks,

Just buy the Cyrus CD T from TMR...got mine there for only $999 brand new. It retails for $1299. It is probably just as good. I would say the DAC will make more of a difference in the sound. There is also the cheaper Audiolab....but to me, it is too darn big for what it does, a transport. I bet if you opened it up you would find it to be mostly empty. The Cyrus is tiny compared to most, taking up less real estate on my shelf. I don’t know much about anything "Jay Audio", but to me, way too much money for just a transport.

I don't understand why the Nuprime transports get so little love.  There are several models to choose from, and they're sold by Audio Advisor, so easy to get and no initial risk.

+1 For buying the Jay’s CDT2 MK III directly from Alvin Chee. I purchased my Denafrips Pontus II last year from Vinshine Audio and received outstanding customer service and technical support from Alvin and his team.  I currently have an Audiolab CDT6000 paired with my Pontus but plan on upgrading to a Jay’s CDT2 MkIIl in the not too distant future. I want to take full advantage of the I2S inputs and the Jay’s is compatible with the Pontus.

@audioguy85 I have both the Cyrus CDi (which is the same as the CDt but with an internal DAC) and bought a Jay's Audio CDT2 Mk3 recently. Hooked up to my Holo May KTE DAC, it's not even remotely the same league...

The Cyrus sound is fun and all I'm the first to appreciate that, I have the Cyrus Phono Signature with the PSX-R2, used to have a DAC XP Signature. But their CD Transports are meh to be honest. Even the CD Xt signature which I auditioned in comparison with the CDi and which is closer in price to the Jay's Audio is barely better than the CDi/CDt. Haven't heard their latest CDt-XR, but unless they have seriously upped their game, I don't know they could ever even have a chance against the Jay's Audio...

I don’t know much about anything "Jay Audio", but to me, way too much money for just a transport

Just a transport?

Fascinating how some under appreciate the value and role contributed by the CD transport. I seriously doubt  the Cyrus is the sonic performance equal to the Jay's Audio CDT2 MK III.

@habermas

On forums there's a tendency for people to post opinions cavalierly with little to back them up. Thanks for sharing your listening impressions of the Cyrus and Jay's Audio CD transports in your audio system.  Much more meaningful.
