Got thrown into bonehead Anguish xferring to the college local....mid-term, the instructor asked "...why are you here?"

🤷‍♂️ Impacts over the years here....car accident @ 5 with contact to an unpadded dash, fall onto concrete drive from bro’s bike handlebars, thrown baseball bat playing catcher, top fashion block from a CMU fence following my dismount...

Others minor, one major was having an oak stool broken over during a break-in back in Oakland....didn’t lose conscionness, but UIC would have prefered to...

ER interm opined that was a Good Thing, actually....had seen a lot of same from bar fights..... "That would have been my 1st choice for the lead-in to this state..."

"Baseball-stiched" the gap, nearly gone at my hair line.....which receded like a tide awhile ago....

ADD, ADHD, apply as desired or contempting to....maybe a condition not noted prior, as what I live existed before the acronyms....

Opening lines to this, a fav of the day.... kinda ’gets’ me’....miserable at ’small talk’ (usually the most damaging inadvertently), any following gets mistook or ignored as odd....

Gave up eventually....you either ’get me’ or won’t. I’m no physical threat, no... ;)

For many years I used to use the 'Marketplace feedback' button to send an IM. Seems it is often not working for me now though.

But, I also just found that if you click on the username, NOT the icon on the left of it, but the spelled out username on the right of the icon, then you will get the option to 'Message User'. I just sent a message to a good friend and it did not require me to register a credit card.

"Common knowledge" is a hopeful goal, but tends to be stumbled into...

Be aware that IF you'd like to see a reply to a PM, you're required to post to the A'gon system a credit card with the typical exper date AND the 3 digit number on the flip side.

I did notice an email address posted earlier in a forum that likely got 'popped' and didn't seem to be in any regard to a transaction.  Wasn't convoluted in any fashion to attempt to conceal it.  Likely a 'see your on X' or FB, etc. would draw the same fate...  

But at days' end, 'Gon is a private enterprise that wouldn't exist without some rules and revenue to make it exist and continue to thrive.  Their play yard, and we're just the neighborhood 'nearly doing wells' chattering about, about nearly anything.

Buy something, sell same, pay some dues, get some clues about pleasing your music muse.  And as is elsewhere...

@asvjerry - I wondered whether the issue @soix is having may be related to the credit card thing and/or A’gon’s two-factor authentication.

I didn’t think I had a CC on file with A’gon until last week when I purchased something from this site (first time in a long time) and one of my CCs was shown as being on file. Therefore, it appears that I have both the two-factor authentication and the on-file CC.

Having a card on file, doesn’t bother me as much as some people but I have had that BOA card since the early ’90s and anytime an entity has tried to scam me, BOA has caught it and rectified the issue, usually before I even found out about it.

I agree that it is unfortunate we cannot simply converse with each other offline, but I understand that A’gon is trying to protect their business model (i.e., fees for sales).

Seems to be what @soix got when the username is in an original post. But, when the username is in a reply the drop down appears.

That last bit is a bridge too far for me...not that I don't have it, nor use it.....

But ONLY when I'm making a transaction in progress.

There's way too many nimble types out there who can tear into systems and nary leave a memo of the feat, and the Gon is Not the DOD.

Well, going to Explore and member lookup didn’t work and I got no option to send a message. Also, hitting marketplace feedback under a username also didn’t give the send message option either. Don’t know why. But @mitch2 was right — I couldn’t PM off the initial post but the drop-down option to send a message was there when the OP sent another response to the thread. I can’t conceive of why you can’t PM someone off their original post — makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever and just breeds completely unnecessary frustration and confusion. It’s right up there with having to hit the little triangle up at the top near the Discussion Forum banner to be able to post your system. Why is there not an option to just add your system under your own user page? Nah, that’d make too much sense — better to make it nice n obscure and confusing. 🤪🙃🙄

@ghdprentice @mitch2  I followed your instructions and it just brings me to the users feedback page with no option anywhere to “Send Message.”

If you see this page after clicking on the username (did you mean the user's avatar?), select "Market Feedback ->"

It will take you to this page:

Clicking "Send Message" will bring up a box for you to send a message to that user.

I’m also using an iPad, and there’s a clear option to send a message from the drop-down menu.

Yep, It should be but Agon seems to find a way to make things cumbersome.IE, I needed some help contacting a now defunct Mfg’er. to help with a problem.So I looked up posters who had the same brand name equipment and problem with it so as to get contact info. Well, you CAN’T post anyone’s email or contact info over A’gons messaging system.So the info I was trying to get was blocked out by the messaging system. Once, the info had to be passed to Tammy who then sent it to me. If i had another question, email Tammy who emails the poster who then emails Tammy who then emails me

 

@mitch2 Thanks for pointing that out never noticed! When I clicked @soix on the initial post it took me to his user page but on his reply Message User was there. Nice to learn something new today! :)

That could be, @soix .  My computer is ancient (2012 vintge) and I am using windows 7, and there is so much stuff that either doesn't work or only works with great difficulty, so I am actually surprised that this did work for me.

I actually got a drop down box when I clicked on your user name and I sent you a test with the title of "test."  

What @ozzy62 posted works for the names of people who respond to a post, but not the OP.

You can also go to Audiogon (not the forums), then drop down on "Explore" and click "Member Look-up", and then if you enter a member’s user name and "Search" the member’s name will show up as a link you can toggle to have the option to "Send Message"

Audiogon -> Explore -> Member Lookup -> do that -> Click on Username -> Click on Send Message Tab

Just click on their username. You should see a drop down box with the last option being “message user”.
