High quality interconnects - bargain price
Guys - Just wanted to pass along something that I stumbled across while setting up a home recording studio.
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Roland/Black-Series-Dual-RCA-RCA-Interconnect-Cable-15-ft-Black-15000000...
These were only $22 for the 15ft version (that I needed), have a stranded OFC copper core, Poly insulation, Conductive PVC sleeve, Spiral braided OFC shield, etc. They are described as "low capacitance" and have a lifetime guarantee too.
Lots of bang for the buck and work great.
Just thought I'd pass it along since we oftentimes overlook pro-audio equipment as a source for our stereo systems.

I use Mogami Gold interconnects. Honestly, cost is not important to me, and yet, this is the interconnect I use. I know the "sound" of interconnects is much debated, but to me it common sense and just use your own hearing as a guide. 30 years ago I bought a pair of Apogee Duetta II speakers and still have them. I needed interconnects and what did the high end store recommend? Mogami. They could have sold me something much more Do they have neodymium magnets?..... I'm kidding but 6moons is not: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/highfidelity/1.html It really makes me laugh; but live and let live; which reminds me - those critics who have achieved brows so high that their sense of courtesy can longer ascend to their calvaria are encouraged to micturate off. |
Gentlemen, I have been in this hobby over 37 years. Mogami. They could have sold me something much more expensive, but didn't even try. Now that is an honest retailer! |
The correct speaker placement is in itself incredibly important as to audio reproduction itself, but has nothing to do with the quality of the interconnects being used, which are also another factor necessary to achieve one's goals. Anyway they cost money. How much one is willing to spend is thus another factor to deal with. My approach is to find the very best product that I can personally afford. Thus I am presently using MG Audio Design interconnects. The same can be said as to speaker wires, power cords, plus power conditioning devices. Altogether they can add up to a serious amount of money, but on the other hand are the price of achieving what is possible. It is just that I can not afford what Michael Fremmer is himself is using on his own audio system so I try to find lower cost alternatives. But if one ignores the subject itself, they will never, ever achieve what is possible. |
I have been using the top interconnects from MG Audio Design. Although they are not cheap, nothing can come close for the price. I first learned about them from a review in TAS by Arnie Nudell. He and his friend PulMcGoern, of PS Audio, both use them. Anyway a one meter pair costs $1600, but you can order a half meter pair for only $900. I find them simply incredible, and I figure if they are good enough for Arnie or Paul, they are good enough for me. |
Thanks Bondman! And to J. McGrogan - All I know is that if I now Google: "High quality interconnects bargain price" https://www.google.com/#q=high+quality+interconnects+bargain+price&* This post is the first thing that comes up in results, so..... 99% might even be conservative... Greg |
Keep in mind that 99% of the people that read this site never create an account or post. Really? I find that very hard to believe. Possibly fake news? Why would non-audiophile folks come into these forums? I don't bother lurking in forums for Pokemon Go, Magic: The Gathering, or other strange hobbies that do not interest me.. |
Thanks but I think my post was misunderstood - I wasn't looking for cable recommendations (happy with what I have) and am familiar w/ Blue Jeans among others... I was merely pointing out that pro-audio is a good source for high quality at a low cost (not innovative- not cryo-treated, coated with graphene, no 6N pure silver....)- Just especially good value when you consider that this is the same stuff that's used in the studios that produce the music that we ultimately listen to. Keep in mind that 99% of the people that read this site never create an account or post. Just passing it along. Greg |
