I bought a pair of electrical devices called Electraclear from a company called AddPowr. They're simply plugged into an electrical outlet that's shared by your system. I paid under $300 for them and they've boosted my system's fidelity dramatically. In the 1800's, a physicist and mathematician, Joseph Fourier, delved into the science of harmonics, and now the founder of AddPowr used these equations to increase the signal to noise ratio. (more signal=less noise) His devices act as harmonic resonators. He worked for a high-end audio cable company before focusing on this new range of products. I thought that when I first received the Electraclears, the difference would be subtle. To my surprise and delight, it was a stunning change. I was hearing music from the inside out. Cleaner, more dynamic, and a far greater and noticeable improvement than my power conditioner produces. I love finding inexpensive audio devices that work. The company makes other products, but I'd recommend a pair of Electraclears to start.
“I’m creating a private cocoon of aural pleasure that blocks the incessant and irritating intrusion of the outside world. A great sound system is an aural womb, and harkens back to the most perfect and accommodating environment one has ever known- floating in a bath of amniotic fluid. AddPowr’s devices bring you back there.”
All this arguing back and forth and it can simply be verified with a scope hooked into the 120VAC line. Look at the scope after plugging the 300 dollar unit in and measure what the difference is.
Report back. Heck, why won't the manufacture do this and use it for their advertisements? It would stop all of the uncertainty and increase sales if there really was a quantifiable improvement.
I’m the OP of this thread. Congratulations on thinking for yourself and trusting your own ears. You’ve corroborated my own experience that AddPowr’s products are a powerful addition to ANY audio system. I also wrote a follow-up about plugging them into an isolation transformer along with a power conditioner so that every component downstream of the isolation transformer is treated to the same miraculous improvement. My ElectraClears were the original iteration of the technology and your Eau4’s are a doubling of the ElectraClear’s effect, so you did well.
Why this obsession with the seemingly infinite ways to improve one’s system?
Psychologically, I’m creating a private cocoon of aural pleasure that blocks the incessant and irritating intrusion of the outside world. A great sound system is an aural womb, and harkens back to the most perfect and accommodating environment one has ever known- floating in a bath of amniotic fluid. AddPowr’s devices bring you back there.
+1 for the Eau4! Bought one initially for my OLED TV to see if it made any differences(s) and indeed it did. After about 10-12 days, better color saturation and darker blacks. What I dd not expect however, was the impact it had on my stereo system which is on a separate line but fairly close to my TV.
My system became quieter, especially in phono mode. I was so intrigued that I ordered a second one and plugged it into an outlet with my stereo and the noise floor was further lowered to a level that I can no longer detect any noise. Prior to inserting these devices, I could always detect a very slight hum in phono mode (behind my speakers) when I stopped playing a record. With my system off, the hum would disappear. Now, I can't hear any difference in the hum level when my system is on or off. Color me most impressed!
With the reduced noise levels, my stereo sounds more dynamic, has improved imaging and sounds a bit warmer since I am more aware (in a good way) of the tubes in my system.
The company offers a 30-day return policy, so you really don't have anything to lose, except for the time and effort it would take to actually audition the device...before passing judgement. I realize that for some, the later comes much easier.
For a 10 plug-in comparison, go to "Live plug-in filter test" at YouTube. Doesn't include Electraclear, Puron or Stein, but many others available in the U.S. Disturbing result with Clear Line (no. 7 in the test and measurements at the end).
Eau4 has twice the antennae and therefore a larger field. AddPowr is not stripping away anything. I got both Furutech and add powr. I use the Furutech on my Isotek vision power scrubber and the Eau2 on the router. Try the Furutech on the router maybe. Eau2 or Eau4 work.
Effect on tonality? I like a bit of warmth in my system and so far the (used) Furutech NCF Clean Line has added lots of focus, clarity, stage width and quiet but stripped the system of any warmth. (Emotionally) sterile is the word that keeps coming to mind. So I'm wondering about the Electraclear in that regard. And anyone know the difference between the Eau2 and Eau4?
Note: Naysayers, please do not respond. I'm not interested in your opinion.
Of the two extremist groups in our hobby, the snake oil salesmen do contribute as they stumble upon a tweak that actually works every so often. Other than annoying the rest of us, naysayers never contribute anything to audio. I’d much rather be auditioning some weird & wonderful tweak even if it doesn’t work, than be listening to a self obsessed blowhard telling me why something won’t work because he doesn’t understand the science behind it.
Not surprisingly, I have never heard a naysayer’s system sound anything but crap.
I NEVER dismiss anything out of hand, because I've experienced too much that defies comprehension with a conventional perspective. The backbone of this country was its backyard tinkerers, so I hope one day you can divulge your successes. Hearing music at its pinnacle is a great privilege and pleasure.
If I showed you what all is in my system, what it looks like and how it works, you would think it is pure BS. Then when you hear it probably your mind will be unable to make the connection that such seemingly impossible contraptions really are the reason for the incomprehensibly good sound you are hearing. But they are. And no I cannot tell you what or how. Not yet. But with the new meta nano materials research you are kinda sorta onto something.
Every week, new advances in science and technology occur. New meta materials and processes are discovered that will wend there way into audio products. Here's one such process that may have some use for us: "
Porous nanostructured microspheres with the composition Cu0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4, that we have extracted, used as anode material provide three times higher capacity than the batteries existing on market. Besides, it allows for an increase in the number of charge-discharge cycles by 5 times compared to other promising alternatives to graphite." This deposition process will improve lithium -ion batteries, but imagine what it might offer when applied to audio electronics. The possibilities are without limit...
By the way my last device is the most powerful ever created by me 3 days ago...
I will speak about in my thread...
I mention it here because i had the idea reading a japanese research paper in audio.... Pure science then... And i discover that no one speaking in the tread i was reading about imaging know "precisely" how to create it in a room...They were only arguing partial truths....
My device make me able to do it on the spot and i can explain why with acoustic science...
Cost: peanuts....
i am too flabbergasted for the moment to speak more.... I will wait few days...
I think i am done now with adding anything to my system or room....
The sound fill my room and even behind my head sometimes.... I never know before that a stereo system done right could did that....
Calling my device a "tweak" is insulting....
I called my device : "Helmholtz meeting the first frontwave" the name describe it accurately....
This is GAME CHANGING....
I must thank audio2design for that, it is in my research on the net arguing with him about the "imaging" concept he dont understand that i stumble on this and i immediately seize in the article what was lacking in my own understanding and in audio2design own understanding much more than in mine... 😁
I created the device for veryfying the japanese research .... My device is NOT in the article paper....
I am in heaven now listening music for the first time in my life.....
But we must remember that the bandwagon is not a unique and only one bandwagon...
There is the S.G. bandwagon for example or the springs bandwagon on one side, and on the other side the " sunday boy club skeptic and scientism bandwagon"...
«All people saying that springs are right must be right i will try some...» This the first bandwagon....
«All these people saying that springs is non sense because of science and snake oil must be right i will never try some... »This is the second bandwagon...
Mapping logical fallacies are very useful like mapping the signposts on a road...
But on the road of thinking and experimenting, the signposts are not the road.....
then i will add the more insidious fallacy: " the map is not the territory"
This one was lacking in this excellent list otherwise...
And please tell me you are not into tweaking your vehicle’s brakes
Oh, the ignorance. Back when I was a Porsche Club of America Driving Instructor and it was time to replace my brakes I went to one of the most experienced Porsche techs in the the US to find out if drilled or slotted rotors might be better than stock. Squire said no, get stock and have them cryo'd.
Say what??!
He said they will not only wear longer, but exhibit greater ability to modulate and hold on the verge of lock-up, especially when it counts, when very hot from a lot of laps. Well Squire held the track record and had a long and storied racing history so who was I to argue? I had them cryo'd and used them long enough to know everything he said was true, including the longer brake life.
For several years it was routine to change brake pads to use the faster response pads for autocross and the higher heat tolerant pads for the track. The brake fluid was also changed to a higher temp. This isn't necessarily something recommended for street use as the higher temp stuff is more hydrophilic, absorbs moisture, and so not great for street use where the fluid is likely not often changed, but perfect for track use where the fluid is changed and higher temp resistance to boiling is much more important.
Now here's the funny part. I tend not to follow threads that decompose into BS the way this one has but the brake ignorance caught my eye and it was quoted so I had to scroll up to see which boob wrote it and no surprise, it was bluemoodriver.
This will not register, it never does when the skull is so thick, but any normal person would at this point be so humiliated to have it made so clear just how far off he is, and go skulk off, never to be heard from again. We can only hope.
Please could those of you who trust your senses without question, who do not recognise your own confirmation biases, who don’t believe in measurement, who don’t respect the laws of physics, and who think they are immune from placebo effects, please tell me what else apart from audio you spend your money on? Whatever it is, I’m going into that business. And please tell me you are not into tweaking your vehicle’s brakes, or designing medical devices, or aeroplane control systems, or nuclear power safety systems. Please?
Please? Confirmation bias goes both ways. If you’re predisposed to not hear a difference, you won’t. We all believe in measurements but contend that not everything can be measured, presently. We’re not so full of ourselves that we think that we’re at the height of our ability to measure things. Tell that to the physicists. We respect the laws of physics but that’s such a broad topic to fall back on without being incredibly specific and without asking someone who’s very steeped in it to chime in with what it possible. As for placebo effects, they are all temporary and not long lasting. We’ve always said that distinctions and variances are heard through long listening sessions and not at the short intervals needed for a parlor trick. And, no one here falls that easily for the conflation of tampering with car brakes, airplane control systems and nuclear power stations with simple, effective tweaks done to our audio systems.
Right between the eyes, millercarbon- Bravo! I'm the OP on this thread and have encountered an absurd amount of scorn from the hyenas that lurk on this forum . When they take their self-righteous 'science and measurements' posture, my immediate thought is that they can't hear or experience music. It's also likely that they have mediocre rigs that won't improve with anything except a complete overhaul. When I began a thread about SR fuses, I really kicked a hornet's nest. It's a shame because the point of this forum is to SHARE experience with your fellow audiophile, who may benefit from your results. Also, science is a terrible example of established knowledge- just look at the recent astonishing revelations of recent advances in quantum theory. Nothing is fixed in science or in audio.
Interesting. This is like a pit of vipers.if it works for you wonderful, if not then move on.
Followed by
Easy to see who the posers and the vipers are.
and
Easy to see who the viper is.
Easy to go to your posting record to see these are indeed accurate quotes. You seem to have a viper fetish.
I was trying to find one that was informative and unfortunately the closest you came was the one where you tried to lecture us by regurgitating a slew of turntable tropes. You got taken to school on that one and rightly so.
I don't usually waste much time with the neuro cases around here but some make a specialty of it and they seem to have spotted that you keep coming back with the same sorry crap just under a different name.
Myself i could be wrong in any of my cases, experiments or reports...
You could also be wrong in your assessment of one of my case...
Then speaking without denigrating is the only meaningful way...
I am "nut", you are not... I need you and you need me, because life is boring if all events are previsibles or explainables on the spot....
By the way my goal in audio, without much money, was never to go on with the consumers herd or the engineering herd, but to give myself a good hi-fi experience at NO cost.... Mission accomplished.... I would have never succeeded going on with the general rule....Because audio is also like any field more complex than meet the eyes....
I know I embrace most of the information given here and flat out reject a few on this forum. Especially those who malign, attack and are just vicious. You know who you are.
I have tried some and they have worked and others that did not, and yet I do not espouse those who condemned or condone those tweaks.
if it work for you then great, if not move on and do not those who it has worked for.
I have lurked this forum for a long long while, joined once and was viciously attacked by a select few. Well I am back and now ignore those few. For the most part there is good information being shared and it is all subjective, go ahead and show how big a child you are by attacking and condemning with no data to back your assumptions. With no data that is what they are and you are the first three letter of assumption.
Why do we reject tweaks due to "pure" science, or scientific thinking? And call it snake oil...
Does science explain everything? And dispute everything too? hmmm...why are we DISCOVERING WHY cement actually hardens - in 2020???
But we've been using it a LONG time? No?
"Many paste materials, also known as dense colloidal suspensions, stiffen as they age. Structural dynamics, or changes in the loads the materials undergo over time, are partly responsible for this change, but for decades, experts have suspected that there's more going on inside these materials."
Good on you Mahgister. Me too, and my best wishes to you too. I’m sure you will continue advocating your listened experience, and I’ll keep advocating science and measurement. We’ll keep it sweet while doing so, eh?
I’m led by science and engineering and objective evidence and build my systems using those principles to create a sound I love.
You have a faith in "stones and crystals which we must link together in synergy with the ears/room/speakers acoustical field feed back."
I am led by my listenings experiments , nothing else guide me except audible results...
Buying nothing my audio system is top now for his price...I am very proud to think by myself and not being only a passive consumer nor being passively constricted by prejudices...
I dont presume anything , i tried, and putting copper on shungite is not in any manual... I tried it because my ears said so... i succeeded...Call it placebo if your sleep would improve...When i was at school i never accepted what was in the manual only because it is there....I dont say that engineer must reinvent acoustic or plane flight... I juste say open mind make discoveries for themselves first and sometimes for all....
Your own recognition of your overreaction and your choice of some time away is wise.
I am a consicous being not a robot, then i recognized my mistakes....I go too far with your denegating not one but all time postings with mockery... But i go myself too far.... I apologize for this now after recognizing the fact....
Please could those of you who trust your senses without question, who do not recognise your own confirmation biases, who don’t believe in measurement, who don’t respect the laws of physics, and who think they are immune from placebo effects, please tell me what else apart from audio you spend your money on? Who are gullible?
ME who paid 500 bucks for my audio system and tune it so good i trashed all my seven headphones, without buying ANYTHING, save few bucks materials, and created myself homemade my own embeddings device controls, for the mechanical, electrical and acoustical working dimensions of my system ?
or YOU who spend your money in a costlier system without knowing how to make it great if you dont upgrade it, because you dont know some basic law of science and dont trust your ears?
And you pretend like others in the "sunday skeptic boy club" to be scientists for sure...
I am not a scientist but i can think and use my ears...
By the way because idiot need more precision, all the systems, breaks, medical devices,planes, you mention have no relation whatsoever with listening and learning how to listen, changing parameters in audio gear or in the room, or in the electrical grid with controls devices or tweaks;
Then the comparison you make with tweaking breaks, medical device, or planes, prove 2 things only, you are of bad faith totally or else you are an idiot....
Since you are such a technical expert: power cables are one of the major ingress points of EFI/RMI into systems: it therefore stands to reason that different power cords have different effects on devices specifically designed to fight that distortion; fat joke, that init?
A: Yes they seem to. Whatever filtering or tonal characteristics the power cord powering the X2 has, they seem to pass through to the effect the X2 has on the overall sonic presentation of your system
Beautiful!
it’s like that Gerard Hofnung gag about the guy who bought a penknife but couldn’t open it, so be bought anther penknife to open it with, but... etc.

In addition to AddPowr, reputable companies such as Furutech, Nordost, Acoustic Revive, Akiko Audio, Oyaide and I am sure numerous others are working on this basis and to call them all snake oil sellers is simply preposterous.
Most of those who chase and see "snake oil" sellers and customers everywhere has never created for themselves a good audio system to begin with, if they had, they will know first hand that tuning a system rightfully is more powerful that upgrading it....
Ignoring basic fact about vibrations, electrical noise and acoustic, they accuse everybody who try to cure all disease plaguing all systems to be deluded by calling ANYTHING snake oil....Or worst placebo...Idiots in audio are easy to recognize....
For sure "tweaks" are way too costly for me, but i never bought them myself i replicate them simply when i could.... Result: hi fi experience for peanuts...

The world would be a better place if any comment from writers who haven‘t actually listened to the item being discussed get automatically barred by the moderator.
