Cerious Technologies NEW Graphene Cables

Now, this is not a advertisement, just a posting sharing my experience on some well made great sounding cables at a very reasonable price. Besides, I don't think Cerious Technologies is set up for a big influx of cable orders.

But, if you get the chance to try these cables, please do.

I have been interested in the newer cables coming out that are using Graphene as a conductor. SR cables seemed interesting, but I always hated the way there cables had all those extra wires (with the active shields and such). I then noticed an ad early in I think November or December from Cerious Technologies for Graphene cables. I investigated how the cables were assembled and it seemed like quite a laborious process.

I ordered (with a 30 day money back guarantee) the balanced Graphene interconnects, and boy did they impress me. Such depth, soundstage, realism, frequency smoothness, effortless sound. I was truly impressed!  I now have a complete loom of the Cerious Technologies Graphene cables. That is; interconnects, speaker cables, digital cables and power cords.

I ended up selling all of my other cables and to those of you who have read my postings know that cables have always been my curiosity.

So, as I began this post, let me again iterate, I have no alliance to the company, my posting is for those of you looking for an great alternate high quality Graphene made cable without spending a fortune.

Talking about graphene, has anyone tried this contact enhancer?

http://madscientist-audio.com/presta/22-graphene-contact-enhancer

If not, does anyone want to be the guinea pig and report back? 😉

In my expert opinion you should get the red.......the fact that the master has already suggested the red had nothing to do with my choice 😜
I'm having Don Sachs build me one of his PH-16 based phono preamps with all the upgrades.  Which CT power cord should I order for this, the red or the yellow?

tommylion,

Congratulations on the Cerious cables. The speaker cables are something special.

mac48025,

I have tried so many power cords. With my ears and my system the Cerious cables are in the top tier and at the lowest price.

ozzy

Congrats tommylion, the wait will be worth it. The GE speaker cables are simply amazing, as are the IC's. I'm sure the power cords are also but I've yet to experience them......something I shall rectify soon.
Just ordered my last set of ICs. Speaker cables are next, to complete the loom. I need a bi-wire pair, so it's going to take a while to save up for them ☹️

Always 30 days money back. I am easy. Just talk to me. If you need more time just let me know. Life should be low stress...No re-stocking fee - only Santa has a right to charge that...
Bob
@grannyring; Cerious Technologies has a 30 day money back guarantee I believe.
I’d email Bob and ask him any questions that you might have @
rgrost@cerioustechnologies.com

Grannying, correct, I believe all you have to do is pay to ship it back. No stocking fee. Perhaps someone else will know the specifics?

I read a post many pages back where the builder does claim a trial period. Is is without strings attached like 10% restocking fees etc.... thanks again.
I would like to try a digital cable. Do they offer a trial period. I did not catch it on the site? Thanks all.
The GE are only available factory direct from Cerious...we ship worldwide!
Bob
I am curious about the new Graphene SC's, are they only available directly from Con USA ?

tbg,

I assure you that Bob’s Graphene cables are WAY better than his previous versions.

So are you saying you are going to try the Cerious Graphene cables? Or are you looking for free review samples?

Heck, if you can afford the HFC Pro’s just the sales tax on them would outfit a complete loom of Bob’s Cerious Graphene cables. Don't try to smoke a free pair from a one man band trying to keep up with demand.

ozzy

Ozzy and jmcgrogan2, First I will say that the HFC Pros are exceptionally pricy as well as outstanding! I have struggled and sold many things to keep the Pros. I have known Gross for thirty years, since he was stuffing preamp full of stuffing or modeling compound. I have had two of his Cerious cables and will now be trying the new ones. I wish I were affluent enough to keep cables that are more in the price range of his cables. I am going to approach him again for review samples of PCs and speaker wires.

I agree with Ozzy that the more the better of the MC 0.5s. I first got one and then two and then Rick put a third into the system. Those of us there heard a great improvement in the soundstage and asked him what he had done while he was in the back of the room. He said plugging another in the outlet there worked very well. \

Cutting to the chase, I now have eleven in the system. PS they are not in the electrical system. They are near it when the pins are plugged into it.

jmcgrogan2,

I do have the MC-0.5’s spread out over 3 dedicated outlets, it seemed that the more I added the better the sound.

lak,

It does seem that the cleaner the power the better. BTW, I also have 3 Bybee line filters one on each line. Two balanced power conditioners, one on the digital and another with my power amps (Core Power). All AC outlets are Furutech rhodium.

And, I have 2 sets of ERS cloth over my breakers. Now, if I could only find a high end circuit breaker...

ozzy

I thought I remembered reading some place that Rick said the largested HFC game changer had to do with the power. I'm guessing that could be the power cord, MC-O.5's or other power devices they manufactor.

I will add that I do have 16 of the HFC MC-0.5's on my 3 dedicated circuits.

ozzy

That must have been a very recent change. They never were available as XLR's because the connectors had magnets in them and that would make them too large.

The new Reveal's do not have the magnets in the connectors. They chose to place the magnets midway on the cable.

To my knowledge, all HFC XLR connectors are not magnetic.
I agree with you rja, semantics and implication;
Bob certainly sounds like a great guy.
I'll toast to that with a little B&B with Schumann.

Gentleman, thank you for your posts. Both the Cerious, Reveal and other HFC are good along with many other interconnects, etc. One could drive themselves crazy with all that’s out there.
Hello, my name is Lak and I’m an audiophile...

anniwolfe,

That must have been a very recent change. They never were available as XLR's because the connectors had magnets in them and that would make them too large.

The new Reveal's do not have the magnets in the connectors. They chose to place the magnets midway on the cable.

I would like to try the 30K Pro series, however, I would have to rob a bank!

ozzy

All the HFC cables come in XLR! Go see for yourself on there website.

The Pro series 1m is only 30k....go for it maybe it will edge out the CT's?

gakman,

I used the cable from the source (PS Audio Direct Stream Dac).

mac48025,

The CT-1 are single ended interconnects.

aniwolfe,

My other trials of the HFC cables were the single ended (RCA) version. I had the HFC Ultimate interconnects. Quite pricey!

I thought that perhaps it was not a fair trial because all my equipment and cables are balanced and using XLR connections.

The only cable that HFC makes that is balanced is the new Reveals. So, with the raves and I being a cable junky had to give them a try again.

Sorry, no bashing just my opinion. Yours maybe different and that's ok.

ozzy

I have just compared the Cerious Technologies Graphene XLR interconnects to the new Reveal ( magnet) XLR interconnects. Although others have claimed the magnet interconnects to be superior to the Cerious. I’m here to tell you that I am not one.

Once I removed and replaced the Cerious Graphene cables with the magnet cable the sound stage became dark, lacking separation and the frequency extremes. I did this comparison over some time after letting each version settle in for a few days.

Now, this could be that I have a complete loom of all Cerious cables and substituting just one interconnect from another manufacturer is not fair. But I cannot afford the prices charged for the magnet cables to try and replace all of the Cerious Graphene cables.

Again, this is in my system and with my ears, so your impression may be different. But this "audiophile" is sticking with the Cerious Technologies Graphene cables.

ozzy

Why would this outcome be any different compared to the tests you did with HFC in the past? Just because they are XLR? Its an inferior product to HFC products you tried. Seems like you all you wanted to do was just bash the product from what I can see.
Ozzy,
I'm going to try a similar experiment by trying the HF CT-1 interconnects in place of the GE interconnects based on probably the same recommendations you heeded. My GE speaker cables are here to stay and I'll order the GE power cords soon. The GE cables are amazing products at very affordable prices.......what's not to like?
Hi ozzy,

Was wondering if the location of the Reveal XLR I/C swap was between your source and preamp or between your preamp and power amplifier?

Gary
Have to admit I was a bit skeptical about the whole "graphene" thing myself. Sounds more like graphite to me but in the end it doesn’t matter much because whatever it is, it seems to work. I’m using a pair of balanced Cerious ICs and they sound good and are available at a reasonable price. What else do you want?
If there's any "snake oil" involved it's more in the semantics than in the product itself.

Nice try ptss.  Your attempt at rationalization does not square with the plain meaning of the words you used.  An excerpt from your post:

"... What a 'crock' of stupid nonsense.
"Graphene 'particles' per grost--another load of "Crap".
Cerious Technologies stated they 'make' their own graphene 'in house'
    -another load of crap. ..."

Obviously you mention Bob's name. You call what Bob said a "load of crap".  You say that their (Bob's) statement that they 'make' their own graphene is also a "load of crap."  How is this not an attack on Bob? (Rhetorical question).

This notwithstanding, a vitriolic attack on the product or process is an implicit attack on the purveyor of the product.
I’m with you jactoy about there being power in quietness.
It has been sometimes been a surprisingly satisfying pursuit in enriching
the musical pleasure I get from my Spectral and MIT based
setup with Equitech and Sound Application products assisting with ac power.
As for the anger with my comment/questions.
I did not and am not attacking the person. I referred to very
specific comments about the use of graphene in certain products.
My comments/questions are based on simple, easily done research I’m doing on graphene
as a matter of interest in future products. As an example of the true facts about graphene
and it’s use today I refer you to this comment -
"

February 16, 2017 — Ottawa, Ontario

The National Research Council is leading a Special Interest Group (SIG) in consolidating research efforts to develop and propose standards for a versatile material with the potential to reshape the landscape of multiple industries. Graphene, one of the lightest and strongest materials ever discovered, is also praised for its ability to conduct heat and electricity. However, the quality of commercially available graphene-related materials is highly variable and currently no standards exist for characterizing graphene. "

It’s a simple statement of fact.

ptss, I know this site is about exchanging ideas and information about audio, cables, and more.why attack someone like Bob, if you have nothing good to say, say nothing then, I found out most of my old friend here Agon refuse to post, because of them got tired of being attack.if you have a doubt about his product, email Him or call him, Iam sure he is happy to talk to you.But don't waste his time if you don't have interest in buying, He is a busy guy, with a new wife.ptss please let's keep this site more enjoyable n informative...

He is an angry troll for sure. I saw that post yesterday and had to shake my head. Another angry (apparent) nobody accusing a talented designer of being full of s___. Very boring.

Bob lives close to me. I have met him and bought several cables from him. He is a very nice guy, and I am more than satisfied with his cables.

So tell us ptss, which genius designed your cables?

I too get tired of the trolling. I would love it if ptss would share his audio system with us. I see nothing on his page. Mom won't let you have a big boy stereo in the basement? Perhaps he can share a bio since he tries to sound intelligent. Perhaps he is, In the words of the immortal Root Boy Slim "an educated fool"

I've had discussions with Bob back in the days when he still lived in Michigan. A prince of a guy that is not only knowledgeable but also willing to share his knowledge openly with others.
With that said we just need to remember there are others on this site that lack proper manners and like the attention, they receive by doing what they do. Best just to ignore them and not react to their posts...

Thanks for sharing that bg1968. In my discussions with Bob it quickly became apparent that he is very intelligent and passionate about acoustics but I had no idea just how gifted and accomplished he is. While his cables speak for themselves and are above reproach his life accomplishments are even more impressive. It only demonstrates further just how immature and pathetic ptss and his rants are. I have no problems with anyone not liking a product or questioning their marketing claims but such vitriolic and unsubstantiated claims are childish at best. It's no wonder that so many of ptss's post have been deleted from this thread.

Ptss since your so set on calling Bob a liar we would all love to see your Bio and background. Here's Bob's list of accomplishments.

http://www.cerioustechnologies.com/corporate/bio.html

Cerious Technologies President Robert L. Grost has such a diverse background that one of the hardest questions he has to field is being asked by someone “What do you do?” The most common answer is “Inventor”.

He was born in Lansing, Michigan into a family of prodigies. His older brother started Michigan State University at age 9 and had his PhD by age 16, including being named mathematician of the year at age 11. His sister won national design contests in interior design. Robert, the youngest, sought a field that combined disciplines of engineering and the arts.

Growing up hanging out at the physics department at MSU he made a realization early on. Acoustics was his passion and traditional engineering paths had no answers for the questions he formed. It was clear to him that a specific acoustic theory program was needed at the university level, but none existed at this time. He wrote the curriculum, courses, and teaching materials, approached Lansing Community College about starting an acoustics program and it was adopted with him teaching the calculus based classes. He was 19.

Meeting his future wife Kathy, he was informed it was time to “get a real job” where soon after he joined General Motors as Senior Project Engineer for Body Structures Corvette. There he pioneered composite structure research focusing on sandwich structures that eventually were employed in today’s Corvette introduced in 2003. This was 1984 and fiberglass/carbon fiber/sandwich composites were deemed “too radical for production”. Based on his work at Corvette he was promoted to Senior Project Engineer for Advanced Acoustic Programs directing acoustic research programs. He was 28, the youngest to ever reach this level, and had no college degree. He left GM to form Unity Audio in late 1985.

Unity Audio was a loudspeaker company that pioneered advanced materials for enclosure construction. It sold products in 16 countries and had over 70 dealers worldwide. The culmination of his work occurred in 1996 when Unity Audio displayed the first fully computer interfaced surround sound system at the 1996 Consumer Electronics Show.

Since Unity Audio, Mr. Grost has worked in IT holding the position of Senior Project Manager for New Technology/Deployment, General Motors World Headquarters and achieved a B.A. in Business Management Information Technology from Northwood University.

The past four years he has concentrated on research and development of new and radical materials for the defense industry, specializing in synthetic syntactic ceramic foams for ballistic armor applications. Realizing the application of his materials for audio applications he founded Cerious Technologies in June of 2005 to bring these materials to the consumer marketplace.
