Cerious Technologies NEW Graphene Cables

Now, this is not a advertisement, just a posting sharing my experience on some well made great sounding cables at a very reasonable price. Besides, I don't think Cerious Technologies is set up for a big influx of cable orders.

But, if you get the chance to try these cables, please do.

I have been interested in the newer cables coming out that are using Graphene as a conductor. SR cables seemed interesting, but I always hated the way there cables had all those extra wires (with the active shields and such). I then noticed an ad early in I think November or December from Cerious Technologies for Graphene cables. I investigated how the cables were assembled and it seemed like quite a laborious process.

I ordered (with a 30 day money back guarantee) the balanced Graphene interconnects, and boy did they impress me. Such depth, soundstage, realism, frequency smoothness, effortless sound. I was truly impressed!  I now have a complete loom of the Cerious Technologies Graphene cables. That is; interconnects, speaker cables, digital cables and power cords.

I ended up selling all of my other cables and to those of you who have read my postings know that cables have always been my curiosity.

So, as I began this post, let me again iterate, I have no alliance to the company, my posting is for those of you looking for an great alternate high quality Graphene made cable without spending a fortune.

Please read Bob’s reply from 09-22-2016 7:31pm.  Page 12 of this thread on my browser.
Another new customer chiming in.  I just ordered a custom length GE interconnect.  My current cables are mostly from Morrow at level 4.  Based on the many replies here I'm expecting a nice lift in sound quality.  If this goes well I will likely swap out the rest.  I'm picking up clues that the speaker cable may be the best of the bunch.

Is anyone using the GE cables as phono cables?
I asked earlier but didn't get any replies, is anyone using the interconnects as phono cables or know if Bob is considering going down that path?

Bob, I can only speak for myself and I have to say I only have a basic understanding of why a phono cable needs to be designed differently.  Assuming phono cables do need a different design (I'm using Morrow phono cables today and they sound good to me, but ....) I would be interested in what you would bring to market given that you seem to be providing better performance for the money elsewhere.

I like how you explain why you design your power cords the way you do for example on your web site. That makes sense to me.  Your speaker cable design is again, compelling.

Getting back to your question, I would need RCA connections for my gear, but I understand many could use the din connector at the turntable also. Perhaps that is another cable type where options might be needed.

I have my first GE cable on its way.  Its a custom length IC to bridge my amp and preamp that I know Bob wasn't real happy making but I'm excited based on this thread.  Assuming I'm also won over, I'll be swapping out the rest of my cables over time as well.

My impressions will be a bit different from most I've read here.  Most of the feedback has been from users spending crazy money only to be thrilled that Bob's cables are as good or even better for a fraction of the cost.  I've only had cables in the same price range as Bob's pricing so frankly I'm hoping to be blown away.  We'll see.

I also asked about phono cables and Bob doesn't currently make one.  Is anyone using his GE interconnects as phono cables?  If so, how well is it working?

I just wanted to contribute my first feedback being a new customer. I wasn’t living in the world of cables whose price tag included a comma. My world to date was been cables in Bob’s price range.

I have started with a custom single ended interconnect and a blue power cord. I inserted the IC first for a couple of days then added the power cable to my tube amp. Ok, I’m very impressed and I know my break in period still has awhile to complete based on other’s feedback I’ve received offline. I won’t repeat the improvements but I’m getting similar gains others have already noted. I’m certain that the "full loom" is in my future, and I have in fact already ordered and paid for the speaker cables. Those, I’m really looking forward to!

Without question, Bob’s cables are an amazing value. If they are also competitive at pricing multiples, that’s something I’ll have to take on faith from others, because spending over a grand for a cable just isn’t in my makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve heard some very expensive cables and drooled with desire. I am so glad to be getting that level of sound without the cost. Bravo, Bob!

Sharok,

I'm a fairly new customer with an IC and amp power cable so far but I'll be getting the speaker cables tomorrow.  I run with the JansZen hybrid ESLs.  I am also aware of another JansZen owner who has the full suite of cables with the same speakers.  He is the reason I went this way and we chat offline often.

Because ESLs are quite revealing, you would notice the quality of these cables quickly.  I'll be completing my full set over time.  Highly recommended.

I've had the speaker cables now about 3 weeks and I've got 50+ hours on them I estimate.  If there is more improvement in them, well that would be a bonus because they are better sounding now than any speaker cable I've used in the past.

For those unaware, the cables come as 4 individual cables, a separate + and a - for each channel, and there is serious heft to these.  These are pretty impressive to handle and look at.  They are very well made and Bob sends along hookup instructions for those who might be confused.  I will say the size of these makes hooking them up a bit of effort.  The connector lead is reduced in diameter for the last half foot from the hose sized cable so that helps but it might be tricky to run these through a tight rack.  My amp sits exposed on a floor rack between my speakers and my speaker connections pose no issue.  I need to get some cable elevators.

One standout feature is bass support.  I'm getting more bass extension and weight with these than I've ever heard in my system before.

I've never really been sure what kind of bass effects are used on the Lorde Pure Heroin album.  My LP has always exposed a low level sound effect that has challenged my speaker's bottom range.  I don't use a sub.  It has in the past just pounded without a lot of definition.  I can now clearly hear what is recorded and if by magic my speakers have found a new level of support that only a sub would have exposed.  To be fair, I also have a new tube amp that is far more linear than my previous one, but I swapped the old cables back in once and that was the last time that is going to happen.

Highs are equally sweet seemingly without end but there is no glare or harshness.  Loud trumpet and violin runs to the instrument's upper limits simply don't offend any more, unless the musician has issues.  LOL.

Lastly and this comes through all the time, the overall macro level sound is very full but with amazing transparency.  I really can't find a sonic fault, and certainly not at Bob's very fair price.

Ozzy,

I ordered spades on both ends.  My speakers use the Cardas connector that has a knob to tighten both leads with equal force at the same time.

This is a great and clever connector but bananas really don't work well.  I bring the spades up from underneath rather than over the top.

I also like spades at the amp end for a tighter fit, although my amp's binding posts are kind of close together.  Bananas might have been easier to connect, but I still like the spades.  Also with heavy cables, spades don't pull the binding post downward as much as a banana might.

denon1,

This just shows that everything is system dependent and results vary.  I have the blue power cord and on my amp it is very good but not noteworthy.  The speaker cables on the other hand, in my system, seem amazing.  Go figure.

Ozzy,

My analog gear is a Marantz TT 15S1 turntable (next to upgrade) with a Lyra Delos cartridge mated to Bob's Devices Sky 10 SUT.  Digital is covered with a Marantz SA8004 SACD/CD player.  I use Morrow level 4 cables with the front end pieces into a Cary SLP-98P preamp.  It's all CT cables from there.  I use a Linear Tube Audio ZOTL40 (David Berning design) amp and JansZen zA2.1 hybrid ESL speakers.  The CT cables are a custom length IC to the amp, blue PC, and Bob's speaker cables.

I came to the ballpark.  Well worth the trip.

I'm having Don Sachs build me one of his PH-16 based phono preamps with all the upgrades.  Which CT power cord should I order for this, the red or the yellow?
