Bluesound and BluOS

I have Tidal and Qobuz with both premium subscription”s. Tidal has no problem with any hi res songs and yet Qobuz will skip or pause with hi res music. We have worked with both Bluesound and Qobuz and no solutions have be offered. Any ideas please.

I have been using Tidal on Bluesound devices. I tried Qobuz and found that I like the sound better on Tidal. Some are no fans of MQA files but I have found about 80% of the MQA version of albums I have listened to sound fantastic. I have moved my entire ITUNES library over the the hard drive on a Bluesound Vault. The only thing I can say that is a negative about Bluesound is that I found it very unstable and would not connect when I ran the Bluesound Node or Vault wireless. Now that they are connected wired by LAN/Cat5 it works perfect. Maybe Bluesound has improved the wireless connectivity aspect of the devices with the i versions. Also of note, IT help with Bluesound is truly top notch. I have called them on three occasions over the years and they are awesome. Adding metadata for album art can be tricky, but I have done it now and it works.

Looking forward to trying the Radio Paradise app on the BluOS. RP is playing MQA files as well.

I use Qobuz, it is the better streaming service. I have never experienced what you are experiencing. However I do not have a BlueSound. Sounds like it is most likely a programming problem with the BlueSound. I would guess it will get fixed with one of the next software releases.

I would keep checking with BlueSound for updates… one day it will disappear.

Alternatvely, Is your blusound plugged in via Ethernet? If not, then get a Wall Wart wifi extender (I recommend the same brand as your router, usually ~$59) … locate it in an outlet close to your audio equipment and plug the BlueSound into that. I have found internal wifi on streamers can be very iffy.

I have streamed both Tidal and Qobuz hi res material successfully without issue using Bluesound devices  (as well as other devices including Roon Nucleus and Bricasti M5).  However, I could see where Qobuz hi res material could be more problematic in as much as all Qobuz hi res material is streamed at its native resolution.  Contrast this to Tidal and MQA, which plays its origami games to send you folded up files that are then unfolded to present you with hi res material.  By nature, Qobuz hi res material takes up more bandwidth than does its Tidal counterpart, and therefore has more stringent infrastructure requirements to perform successfully.

I used Qobuz on a Bluesound device (NAD C 368) for a while with absolutely no problems. I suspect your networking might be the issue. Tidal’s lossy MQA files may be a little smaller than Qobuz’s lossless files, so if the network is just capable of handling Tidal, it could have issues with Qobuz. The network is where I’d look, anyway.

I have Qobuz, not Tidal.  It works poorly with my Android phone, frequently stopping, skipping, etc. At home it works fine with my dedicated streamers, including a Node2, all used with etherwire.  Is your Bluesound on WiFi or hardwired?  Have you used Qobuz with other components besides Bluesound?

I have had similar problems with my bluesound, it seems to help if I uninstall the app and then reinstall it when problems arise.

I subscribe to both Tidal and Qobuz and have never experienced any streaming issues with Qobuz on any of my three Bluesound devices (both wireless and wired).

My first guess would be an issue with your router, but you said you worked with Bluesound.  I assume they would have been able to identify a router issue from your data log.

Are you connected via wi-fi or ethernet?

First thing to check, within your Node app what does it indicate your

WIFI signal level is?

Second, once a proper Mesh WIFI network was added all WIFI levels

increased greatly including the lower level of the home farthest away

from the router.

Skip the inexpensive "expander" tried them and ended up going

with a Mesh network.

Naturally the ^ applies to less than stellar signal strength.

I would be surprised if it's the router or anything to do with the internet connection, bluesound seems to have some problems, and they are hit and miss from unit to unit for some reason.

I have a BlueSound Node 2 and subscribe to both Tidal and Qobuz, (I was a Beta tester for both).

I have never had any issues.

My node2 is hardwired, and I still have to uninstall the app from time to time, it's non responsive at times. I used to have this problem with tidal, but it somehow resolved itself, now I have the same problem with Qobuz.

I have only had one quirk,  and that is sometimes when I try to launch on my tab it can not find the Vault .  I have to close all open windows and launch the icon again and it finds it no problem.  I don't know if its the tablet or Vault but know I know how to get it to find , so its not really a big issue.
