Best Sound Track Ever Vote for One

Just like the potato chip ad lets see how many

suggest several. If they are good and not already

mentioned you will be forgiven.

Ennio Morricone. - Once Upon A Time In America

Shaft, because I like to break the rules.

Cadillac Records.

Goodfellas.

Reservoir Dogs.

The Last Waltz.

The Jazz Singer.

JAWS (humor)

Anything scored by Ennio Morricone. Once Upon a Time in the West is a classic. One of my most 'favorite' soundtracks is Electra Glide in Blue from James William Guercio. Gatefold will cool posters and a booklet. Skins

Victory at Sea - dramatic

1917 - haunting

To Live and Die in LA - simply a blast

Out of Africa- romantic, pensive

"The Hot Spot", an interesting soundtrack featuring Miles Davis and John Lee Hooker. The movie itself (with Don Johnson) was mediocre. Music is redolent of the 1957 soundtrack to "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" (also highly recommended).

@russbutton What a great call on that tune, Mini The Moocher

By Cab Calloway from Rochester NY, a few miles from me.

2001 for existing music.

Gone with the Wind or North by Northwest for original score.

There are a lot of good suggestions here, but @re-lar-kvothe has it right.

Best all-time movie soundtrack album is from The Blue Brothers. Can’t beat "Minnie the Moocher."

Win, lose or draw there are a lot of great suggestions here. Terrific memory jogger too :-)

I remember going to see FM and when the credits were coming up getting up to leave and Steely Dan came on sittting back down for one of the greatest sax solo I’ve ever heard. "FM - Reprise" - Steely Dan I stayed to the end. Left the movie theater and walked down to Disc-O-Rama and purchased the 2 record set. Wow.

Generally not really into sound tracks much, but since you asked:

 The Horse Whisperer

I will second Rush (Eric Clapton)

Another, which was panned by critics, but I love

Angel Heart

Trevor Jones & Courtney Pine, along with Bessie Smith, Brownie McGhee

Awesome......

Film Music Site - Angel Heart Soundtrack (Various Artists, Trevor Jones) - Antilles Germany, Antilles US (1987)

One of my favorites has to he Big Lebowski. Well thought out and even some good music lover jokes tossed into the mix. 👍 Another of my favorites is Spun. Billy Corgan did the music on that film. Hard film to watch but great when you’re in the mood for some dark humor. Third mention would be Into The Wild where Eddie Vedder did the music for the movie. That one makes a good album all by itself as well.

“Les Stances a Sophie” by the Art Ensemble of Chicago.

“Theme De YoYo” from this, featuring Fontella Bass on vocals - amazing.

+1 @aewarren Elevator to the Gallows

great example of film noir ... technically speaking, also a very early example of french new wave.

It's a great film, imo, and in addition to the soundtrack by Miles Davis the film also has a really cool car chase scene with a sweet Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, which I guess was the fastest production car at the time. It's a very cool scene.

It's been a long time since I saw the film but I recall that scene was actually more of a street race.

I bet there a few Mercedes enthusiasts in our group!

Near Dark

it's considered a Horror/Western film ... but it's really a pretty choice Vampire flick

Soundtrack by Tangerine Dream

was made in 1987

It’s hard to compete with Bernard Herrmann and Ennio Morricone, composer-wise.

I’ll toss some love Danny Elfman and John Barry’s way, also.

A few more,

Rush (Eric Clapton)

Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

The Sheltering Sky

Trois Couleurs- Blue

Blade Runner by Vangelis was outstanding. [Aside:  Wasn't there something about the soundtrack being "lost"? Was it found or recreated for the release of the album? Anyone know?]

2001: A Space Odyssey. The score helped make the film as much as any of the special effects and got many of us rock fans into classical forever.

Thanks @hilde45 now THAT is going to be stuck in my head playing all day long....
