Analysis Plus Oval 9

Has anyone any experience with Analysis Plus Oval 9 ( or other copper based ) cables?

If so what is their sonic signature ?

@mdrone - owned three pairs of the Oval 9 RCA interconnects. Kinda warm, weighty, sort of grainy.  Lacking some upper register detail, and lacking separation of instruments as it tends to blur things together more so than more refined interconnects. Not bad for the $, but moving up the line of AP cables to the Crystal OCC version, more open and transparent, more detail if that's what you prefer.

Oval 9’s are a little on the warm side.  Not bright or forward at all. Ran them for a while with Plinius amps and Totem speakers.  Very nice match and great bang for the buck, imo.

The oxidation issue was a factor when considering my recent purchase of used/decade+ old cables. The outer jackets are actually clear, so that gave me some solice.

I must have lucked up, given others' posts

Recently bought the Big Silver Oval 9 bi-wire. Running my Merrill Audio Veritas monos to Usher Mini Two Diamonds. Wonderful in my room/set-up.

Any comments on the sonic characteristics of the Oval 9?

I read they have a very nice midrange.

Wonder if they are forward sounding, or bright etc.

Here’s a nice pair of AZ Hologram II cables at over 50% off list price. If they don’t work out you could almost certainly sell them at no loss or maybe even a small profit. Very well worth a try IMO.

Thanks for the comments.

I am thinking single wire/ my speaker don't allow for biwire.

I have the Oval 9 speaker wire in two of my second systems - one with a Simaudio 600i integrated and Harbeth P3ESR SE speakers, the other with a Electrocompaniet ECI-5 MKII integrated and Klipsch Chorus speakers.  They are well made and do no harm in either system.  I think they're a great value.

IME, Analysis Plus interconnects are excellent. The flat oval profile is suitable for longer runs due to the shielding nature of the outter conductor, but I did not care for the speaker wires. I think you would find that something like the Nordost blue heaven will deliver more of, well, everything.

I tried them in my system years ago and found them tonally natural but a bit lacking in upper treble detail/air.  I ended up going with Acoustic Zen Satoris and never looked back.  Are you looking for single or bi-wire cables?

I have always used these cables with my two audio systems. I get the bi-wire version. I think of them as a poor man’s high end cable. They sound terrific to me.

I've had them before with a different system. They lean towards the warm side of the spectrum. They took a very long time to break in fully

My Von Schweikert VR33 speakers were wired with Analysis+ speaker wire.   Unfortunately. I did not care for the speakers at all due to lack of bass. I don’t know how much the cables contributed to the sound, but they were one of the worst sounding speakers I ever had in my living room.  Took me a year and a half to come to terms that I hated them and sold them at a huge loss.
