Why the cost increase?

You really think a universal health care system is a good idea, the government never runs anything right. Healthcare would not be free, it would probably cost even more than it does now.

SS was never intended to be a retirement plan. It was and still is a tax on today’s workforce to provide a safety net for yesterday’s workforce. 

Regarding the cost of healthcare, hard to argue the merits of a basic universal healthcare system for everyone. We can call it TrumpCare as Ive heard the former reality TV guy enjoys his name in lights.

That leftist nut job had all the problems you just enumerated solved by showing the absurdities of our present medical system, designed to enrich a few at the expense of the many.

By the way, your comment on the aged is absurd and that statement about competition in the healthcare industry is just why it’s not working, or haven’t you been paying attention?

No one decides, one day, to get cancer and go out and see what his health care payments can buy at the health care competition rally. It’s not like buying your stereo. It’s a necessity. Economies of scale would expect one to pool resources and have the buying power to force down health care costs, like one would in any capitalist endeavor.

Did you notice how socialism and capitalism worked so well together in that scenario? Other, advanced countries have been doing it for over half a century and are all the better for it. We could too, if only people would not cling to those absurd zombie notions that refuse to die.

Healthy people needing to pay extra for the obese, people who smoke, people who don't take care of themselves, etc.

Waiting forever to get a procedure done, waiting forever an emergency room, reaching a certain age to where you're no longer needed in the community so your medical procedures aren't as important as others.

There's no competition for lowest prices in the healthcare industry so everyone pays an exorbitant amount.

In any other advanced nation (and there are MANY), you wouldn’t have paid a dime more than what you’d pay through your taxes and some small copay for all the treatment you needed, if that.

Check out Moore’s old documentary, Sicko and your blood pressure will rise enough to get you readmitted. In one scene, a guy cut off his ring and middle finger with a table saw. $60,000 to reattach his middle finger and $12,000 for his ring finger. He chose his ring finger.

Moore then asked another doctor (I believe it was either in Canada or Germany) how much they would charge. The look on the doctor’s face was priceless. Both fingers would be reattached and cost the man nothing since he’s already been paying into the system.

It’s all a matter of priorities as to how you’re going to do things. Nothing more. It’s just that here, stateside, there are those who don’t want them to get any coverage. It goes all the way back to the Civil War.

51 hours in the hospital.. 81,000.00 dollars.. Last year at this time I got the bill.. AFTER coming home and having 16 more heart attacks behind a hard clot they missed.. 12k more BTW. ALL behind a bruised thigh..

I’ll bet money it’s 110k now. Not a worker ONE getting paid a dime more..

My insurance paid all but 117.00 of a 7k ride to the hospital. Sure great people though.. God sent those Nurses, X-Ray techs and Doctors. The X-Ray Tech found the clot, that was missed.. Sharp cookie..

Ah what the heck. They just reinstated a fire chiefs pension in Danville CA to over 20,500.00 per month. They had reduced it to 14,000.00 because of the way he stacked his last years.

One court representing the actual workers sued to have it reduced (his co workers) and won in a lower court. Only to be overturned in a higher court with back pay to the tune of 1.5 million dollars. The real kicker his retirement is greater than the salary he made when he was working full time.. PRISON!!! and whoever supports this type of thieving from the people.. Absolutely NUT

In Danville CA. The worst thing to ever happen was the hills would catch fire and that would wedged in the cattle. They new where to go in the basins where there was no grass..

250,000.00 a YEAR plus benefits.. For a fire chief in a COW TOWN converted to yippyville when the sprawl started.. When I was a kid You couldn’t give that land away.. 2 million an acre now in some places.. 20,000,000. For a 5 acre hobby farm..

Not too far… About 3 months ago I order a pair of Legacy speakers,  At that moment I ask about the prices in the future ( a few months, like my birthday in October or end of the year) I was interested in the surrounds speakers.  I said, we already update our prices May 31 st.  Regular price was $3000.00.  After a few days not even a week, just changed to $4950.00. I called right away and He said, nothing I can do.  I tried different place, I found the old price, placerd the order, they took my money, and after 3-4 days they cancel the transaction.  Saying they don’t have the product at that moment.   

I agree well said cd318. If it get deleted this time we'll ask Mrs Tammy to put it back up.. She can and has done just that.. There is software involved you know. It's not a physical mod most of the time..

Boy have things changed. I'm looking at a plinth on the back porch waiting for a clear coat.. It took a month to find a non water base hardener for oil base urethane.  They want 100.00 for clear coat.. My way is 30.00 a gallon and sets just as hard and polishes pretty darn good.. 6 weeks of curing and wax.. Hard to beat.. for about 10.00 a plinth..

Paint and good thinner is 20% higher in just the last 6 months.

Everybody gets a 10% raise to compare with 50% increases on everything else.. It NEVER fails, like vultures. Smokes were .39 a pack for camels and .29-39 cents a gallon for 95 octane fuel. 1969 My Dad made 2 cents a gallon on fuel.. 1.00 or 1.25 an hour...for wages

We were casually informed back in Feb that the UK economy had shrunk to its lowest point for over 300 years!
And it continues to shrink as the national debt overtakes its GDP.

Meanwhile over in the US, from what we can gather via the mainstream media, things aren’t what they used to be.

The recent humiliation over the fall of Afghanistan suggests that some global transfer of power has already occurred.
The US debt threatens to also overtake its GDP.

Just how much further can this form of economic enslavement go? Are we all destined to end up as economic slaves paying ever increasing stealth taxes to enable our governments to repay ever increasing stealth interest repayments?

For sure people are concerned, people are worried, and it won’t surprise me to see them seeking ever increasingly desperate measures.History often has a way of repeating itself.

In the meantime there doesn’t seem to be too much that we can do about any of this. Other than try to stay healthy, try to stay afloat economically and maintain healthy relationships.
At least that way we can best face whatever it is that’s coming next.

Oh yeah, let’s not also forget about music and playback equipment. It might be behaviour akin to that of the band on the Titanic, but at the very least we can still choose the tunes and hope our posts don't keep getting deleted in the meantime.

I juice and have for 40 years. Fruits have tripled and veggies have doubled in the last 4 years. Where they had only doubled in the prior 35 years.

The same barrel that was 55-75 dollars a per barrel during the Clinton era produced fuel from 1-2.00 per gallon. When he left office it was .99 cents per gallon. That same barrel today cost the same amount but fuel is 4.50 cents per gallon. WHO is putting OVER 3.50 cents per gallon in their pockets. Taxes went up 10-17 cents I think.. .17 cent PER GALLON increase.. WHY? BUT 3.50 + profit per gallon. Isn’t fuel regulated just like Natural gas?

Think about a station pumping 80,000 gallons of fuel in 3 days.. This one station was getting 20,000 a day of diesel alone, and 10,000 in regular. 250,000.00 + dollars in profit in one 3 day weekend.. 52 in a year fellas
Now think 37 years, that's how old the station was.. He started with an Ice Cream truck from a FREE government grant. Only in America.. I couldn't qualify..:-)

The guy tore down a huge station and put in a super station with car wash, and added TWO more islands just for diesel, and showers for truckers. He’s paying cash.. 4.00 for the V8 there too.. It’s a 1.25 on Amazon. :-)

Lots of unscrupulous people will use any excuse to jump on the bandwagon raising their prices. Similar amount of groceries shocked me last week only to see it all go down to normal this week (a good $10 difference).

V8 vegetable juice in my area just went from $3.99 to $4.49 and I am NOT happy about it.

Fuel did drop 20 cents per gallon. People were getting ticked around here, REAL ticked.. My neighbor drives 190 miles a day 6 days a week in a less than 20 mpg PU full of stucco/plaster gear. He's a saint.. 300.00 a week for fuel.

500.00 for food, 1200.00 for fuel per month. Something is wrong...
