Why does my hifi always seem to sound especially good on Thanksgiving?

@elliottbnewcombjr wow…that brings back memories. I now have the MX-110Z and MC240 that formed the heart of my parents system from 1965 to 2001. i just tested all the ancient Telefunken and Raytheon ( bh7 ) on my trusty B and K 667 tester from the comfort of my listening chair….

Absolutely True for me.

I inherited a giant tube console in 1973, Fisher President II made in 1958.

Every year, just prior to Thanksgiving, to get ready for the Holidays:

I would pull all the tubes: am tuner; fm tuner, master control center; multiplex adapter, phono preamps, tape preamps, mono amps.

Now, the tradition continues with tube tuner/preamp and tube amp, but these days I have my own tube tester(s). Just checked em all, and all connections of course.

The old days, paper bags of tubes, standing at the tester until my legs and back hurt, long line behind me, thank goodness that's over with.

It's the Christmas music! 😎

I wish I could hear my system on Thanksgiving but also happy to be traveling again this year!

Agreed. Tryptophan. 

No doubt a nice Furman could never hurt. 

So many of of us have so much to be thankful for. When you're thankful, everything is sweeter.

 The answer to these questions is usually attributed to cleaner power. 

May I suggest a nice Furman as a good place to start?

Yeah clean power, wine, amino acids….it’s all starting to add up.

Yes well I had to look that one up but that could be an explanation. I do like lots of foods apparently rich in tryptophan it seems. Learned something new… So much for my golden ears theory. Enjoy the holiday and the corresponding tryptophan hifi high!

Usually industries are closed down on Thanksgiving allowing for cleaner power. 

Just be thankful for HIFI
