Which speakers are ideal to pair with a Yamaha as3200

Good morning everyone! I kindly ask you for advice on which speakers could be ideal to pair with my new Yamaha s3200 amplifier

I currently have some Kef LS50 meta but I would like to make a qualitative leap.

I have to buy Bookshelf with a maximum depth of 36 cm and a maximum width of 25

I'll also post a photo of the room. The important thing would be a large stage and a detailed sound... I won't listen to them at very high volume and I also have a Kef KC62 sub available that I can match in case.

Budget: Up to 6000 euros

My current ideas: ATC SCM20psl, ProAC D2R, Platinum 100 audio monitor

Thank you so much

I'm a huge fan of ProAc however,I have experimented with my Tablette Anniversaries & find the imaging & staging far far superior when placing the tweeters to the outside as opposed to the recommended inside position...

It would be important to think about and evaluate speakers by their intrinsic sound quality. This is why speakers are typically the starting point... then you evaluate the electronics you need to support them. Even if you do can’t change electronics for years... I’d recommend evaluating speakers by sound.

I prefer musical / natural sounding speakers... so I would recommend Sonus Faber. For a more detailed oriented, but still musical I would look at DynAudio.

If you are able to move the speakers forward a bit and put them on solid stands, and cover the TV with a very heavy absorbent material they will sound much better. I can understand your dilemma.

Whatever you choose I would get the left speaker out of the corner and set up an equilateral triangle off the center of the TV. The speakers are out of balance the way they are set up.

@gdaddy1 +1

I would look at the best for your budget https://speakerchoices.com/

Don’t get anything rear ported that close to the wall.

@ercubano801 how are you doing bass management with your KC62 since the S3200 doesn't have a subwoofer out?

I neglected to look at the link when I commented & gdaddy1 is correct,that is a HORRIBLE set up..You are never going to experience great speakers at their full potential in that set up..
Can you not rearrange the room so as to get the system set up properly?

My comment violated no policy. But, did i mention a brand that was different from what you sales boys/booster bros  were planning to push on this thread?

What brand are you lousy booster bros working on?

Get a pair of Yamaha NS-800A standmount speakers, around 5000/pair https://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio_visual/speaker_systems/ns-800a/index.html

Your setup needs a redo in terms of separating distances. Also your amp has no subowoofer output @ercubano801

The television is not connected to the speakers, so I don’t think it’s a problem that it’s not in the center... for the rest the idea of asking for an opinion is precisely because unfortunately I don’t have a listening room and I have to make do with what I have

When I listen I can move the speakers forward a bit but I can’t do anything else...

The sub is present and is connected to the yamaha pre-out!

You could easily make do with that room..Simply moving that white chair away from the front left speaker,then putting the speakers on appropriate stands(they don't have to be expensive or fancy,just sturdy & solid) pulled out even 18" would help immensely...

Honestly, you may consider pulling your LS50's in and certainly away from the chair.  If you want to get the most out of what you have, setup a unilateral triangle.  This will at least get you started with getting the best out of the LS50's and giving you a better idea of what you're looking for in an upgrade.

Sorry but the white chair is not always there! Is my  error doing the photo!

But using isoacoustic is not good? Using stand is so much better?

The IsoAcoustics are good but it’s about 3 things..Getting the speakers elevated to where the tweeters are more aligned with the ears..Getting the speakers pulled out from the back wall enough to allow the soundstage to develop & getting the one speaker off that subwoofer..Even the IsoAcoustic isn’t going to alleviate the damage done to the sound of the speakers by the deep bass being transfered to the speakers driver & cabinet...
 You might also try pulling the center speaker out to the front edge of the cabinet, angling the center speaker up towards your ears as opposed to firing straight ahead at such a low listening height & using some kind of isolation between it & the stand/rack...

If you like open baffle  the callidan

Or new sonus Faber G2 -5

For $6k tons of trickle down technologies

Do what you can to improve the setup BEFORE getting rid of the LS50's; you may find them much more capable than you think, and you are strangling them by the poor placement decisions.

I'm begging you, @ercubano801, read on speaker setup. Also, you're not high passing or low passing with the AS3200 as it doesn't have that and just playing both the sub and speakers full range... that is gonna work fine but isn't ideal, so you need a dedicated management system. and better speaker placement and angling.

Place each speaker so that the tweeter axis is pointed at each shoulder

Thanks Kofi...so working on the crossover of the sub I don't have the same effect? Would you know what to recommend to have the control of the high and low pass? Thanks again!

I will follow the various tips by buying the isoacoustic stands with tilt and pulling the speakers forward as possible

And one precision…the black sub is not the sub of the yamaha, it is of the soundbar…the kef kc62 is under the table of the othee speaker

Thanks @kofibaffour , I'm taking a look at your links

To do what you tell me can I also use the minidsp flex? Way the south? Is it better?

Another question...I have my turntable and the streamer both connected with XLR cables...how can I insert the minidsp into the system while keeping the connections balanced?

I saw that on the site the flex has individual balanced outputs, should I also take the cables that they make you buy separately?

@ercubano801 connect the streamer to the Mini DSP via a digital interconnect. USB/Coaxial will be the ideal connection. And connect the turntable's phono stage to it via the XLR input provided the phono stage has XLR outputs. What phono stage so you have? Also yeah since you have a streamer then the Flex Balances would do.

I assumed you didn't have a streaming tool that is why I went for the mini DSP SHD which has streaming tools inbuilt

@kofibaffour I have the eversolo amp-6 ME gen2…in this way I use the minidsp as a preampli? I connect at the output the yamaha and the sub (no more connect to the yamaha) right?
Just a doubt...if I connect the streamer to the minidsp flex that still has a dac I don't convert 2 times? Or at least I don't lose the quality of the eversolo dac?

Wait if you have the Eversolo which has streaming protocols, then yes, it becomes redundant to get the SHD which has streaming protocols. Do not get the SHD, get the MiniDSP Flex rather - https://www.soundimports.eu/en/minidsp-2x4-flex-trs.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqHP115osD3NFT2mqKbzW1dYGQBTQZGGCYbf4AIG2ufp8iBAxBr

So you output from your Eversolo to the MiniDSP via USB. Get this USB cable for that connection - https://www.amazon.de/Printer-Scanner-printers-Lexmark-Samsung/dp/B00P0FO1P0

Again I ask what will your phono stage be? @ercubano801

Yeah then you plug the Phono stage into the balanced input of the Flex Balanced and you're good on that front too @ercubano801

So the DMP-A6 into the Flex balanced by USB cable as stated in my comment before yours and then from the goldnote, you use XLR/TRS cables to link the phono stage to the Flex Balanced and then you output from the flex Balanced with TRS/XLR cables into the AS3200

@kofibaffour can you suggest me good TRS to XLR cables for input and output connection?

@ercubano801, yes, I can.

Two of this links the Goldnote XLR outs to the TRS input on the Flex balanced

Two of this links the TRS outputs from the Flex balanced to the power amp

Dear @kofibaffour

I wanted to update you on the situation. I purchased the balanced minidsp flex with the cables you suggested. Everything is ok except for the turntable connection that via the minidsp is very bad, it crackles even at low volume values while if I use the streamer if I set the minidsp volume to maximum and use the amplifier to manage the volume it also crackles while if I keep it around -20 db it goes better and does not distort ... the thing that worries me most however is the turntable, truly terrible ... is it possible that it is a question of cables? or incompatibility with the prephono (Goldnote PH-10 connected to a technics 1200 gr2 with MC audio technica cartridge) ... I await your kind feedback, thanks

Technics-->RCA-->Goldnote-->XLR output to TRS input -->MiniDsp-->TRS output 1-2 to XLR input of Yamaha s3200

@ercubano801

 * Crucial: Optimize Gain Staging on MiniDSP Flex.

Download Software: Ensure the MiniDSP Flex control software is installed on a computer.

 * Input Calibration: With music playing from both the Eversolo (via USB) and the Goldnote PH-10 (via balanced input), monitor the input meters within the MiniDSP software. Adjust the input gain for each input (USB and Balanced) down until the meters no longer show clipping (going into the red) even at the loudest peaks of the music. This is paramount.

* Output Volume: Once input gains are set, set the MiniDSP’s master digital volume to a fixed optimal level, perhaps around -10dB to -20dB (as it seems to work for the streamer). Then, use the Yamaha AS3200’s volume knob for overall listening level. This prevents the Yamaha’s input from being overloaded.

 * Crucial: Turntable Grounding

Technics to Goldnote: Ensure the dedicated ground wire from the Technics 1200 GR2 is firmly connected to the ground terminal on the Goldnote PH-10.

 * Goldnote Ground: If the Goldnote has its own ground terminal and it’s not connected to the main system’s ground, try connecting it to the ground terminal on the Yamaha AS3200.

   * MiniDSP Ground: Some users find success connecting the chassis of the MiniDSP (if it has a ground screw) to the chassis of the primary amplifier (Yamaha AS3200) with a separate wire.

 * Inspect Cables: Even if new, re-seat all TRS and XLR cables to ensure they are fully plugged in and secure.

Also you can try plugging into your wall wart directly

You can ask for further information on MiniDSP forum - https://www.minidsp.com/community/?srsltid=AfmBOopL-_hJUXygVFcKYcem_gNIHKKD66kALJojOItwaHAuvNZKZDVA

@kofibaffour

thank you! I change the gain on the goldnote (it was +3db and now -3db) and is better! But probably i Must reduce more the gain but on the software of the minidsp I couldn't do it...can you explain to me how to do it?
