When you’re not here who will inherit your system?

I have been planning to give my system to my son-in-law who is a commercial electrician and plays bass in a heavy metal band. I hope there’s a chance that he will understand how my system works and will appreciate the gear selections I made. A faint hope. But he’s 3000 miles away, their place would not accommodate all this stuff, and he’s probably going to have job/band hearing loss. I need a plan B.

How about the rest of you: any plans?

I am taking mine with me, already have an electrician working with the cemetery grounds keeper on wiring a dedicated 20 amp circuit. I think the lack of background noise at night will be awesome.
I hope there’s a chance that he will understand how my system works and will appreciate the gear selections I made.

What's the saying? Hope in one hand, wish in the other, see which one gets filled faster?

There's like three guys here even understand how their own systems work. That's being kind. It may well be zero. So good luck with the son in law.

No one in my family, least of all my wife, would be able to turn on either of my two audio systems without blowing something up.  One of these days, I plan to make a list of the used value of each item, so my survivors can sell the stuff.  What they will do with 2500 LPs is anyone's guess.  I am sure as heck not going to sell it in advance of my demise.
No one. I’ll be pairing down to basic minimalist hi-fi. Then I wont care.
I'm fortunate that both of my kids want my equipment.I've got three modest systems put together over the years plus my main system. Some day soon we'll decide together who inherits what.
Thanks Lew, My sons are not interested in analog well in cash.
So I started with selling some of my carts. This however is  exercise
in frustration. Each potential buyer seems to think to have right
on (huge) discount. So I will also make an list like Lew.

Someone that won't appreciate it.

Right. It would be hard to find anyone even capable of hooking it up and operating it. They would plug it in and for once the ninnies would be right and it really would burn the house down.
Nandric, your MC2000 has become my favorite cartridge or close to it, now that I’ve started using a current driven gain booster ahead of my MM phono section to finally make it sing. I will endeavor to take that one with me.
Dear Lew, I am of course glad to hear that you still enjoy ''my''
(former) MC 2000. But what is an ''current driven gain booster''?
My own MC 2000 is the only cart which I use with AU-S1 Denon
SUT. My Basis Exclusive and Klyne 7PX3,5 can drive all other
carts (0,2- 0.4 mV).

Funny, I literally just this evening had a conversation with a fellow enthusiast about adding an (audio executor) in our wills. Basically someone we trust (each other) that would deal with the audio side of our estate, working directly with the executor. This could be substantial depending on how dedicated you have been monetarily relative to your worth.

Analog is forever. Whoever is going to appreciate it, it will be fine with me.
Justgotohms, your ''audio executor'' (alias audio consultant) is
not new idea. I have already two candidates . Both are my ''brothers''
in this hobby. Don (griffiths) and chakster. Their job will be to
inform my sons about the (second hand) value of my stuff after
my farewell from ''this world''. I can't bear the idea that my sons
will sell my ''darlings'' for cheap. This is obviously different strategy
than Lewm invented. He refuses to part from his MC 2000 I, on
the other side, want one of my speakers ''next to me'' because I
don't own an horse.

Yes reality is a bummer sometimes. We had a great laugh discussing the (Score) thread of my buddies collection if left up to his family to liquidate. It would go something like this.

(Major score today, filling up the biggest U-Haul I could rent with vintage tube/SS gear, Mac, Fisher, Heathkit, Altec Astro, to much to list all 9 out of 10 condition. Loads of speakers, early JBL, Klipsch Heritage, dozens of pairs, most are custom veneered, grills, etc, like 50 pair the list goes on, all clean and organized. Loads of Marantz, Sansui, HK, Pioneer vintage receivers, all completely restored, some with custom cabinets. I offered her $3500 and she took it, the K-horns will bring that alone, easy. It was some sort of low key vintage audio shop with listening rooms, work shop etc.
So I’m clearing out this shop and the wife says (I have some gear at home you maybe interested in). We get to the house, nice upper middle class home in a pretty neighborhood. She takes me into a room that has a cool system and a few pairs of very nice speakers, JBL L96’s, Spica’s, HPM’s, some Acurus gear, cool TT. I offer her $1500, she takes it, the cart on the TT will cover that alone. What’s crazy is she says ( I want everything out of here). On top of the gear I’m getting framed tour posters, gold records, a killer record collection, a lot of MoFi pressings, all kinds of cool swag. She said this guy was in the music business for decades. As I’m loading up the room, after getting another truck, the wife says (there’s stuff in the garage if you want to have a look).
We go into the garage and as soon as the door comes up, two pairs of complete VOTT’s, a couple really cool early consoles, all in great condition, she even threw in a neat little stack of Toshiba separates and JBL monitors that were in the work shop behind the garage. I got everything, the shop, house, garage, for $6000, I can get that back from what’s sitting on the front seat).

This is a likely scenario, unless someone with the knowledge and heart to properly liquidate this collection is present. The proceeds could pay for a college education or be a hell of a nice start on life for his daughter. Hopefully mine would at least be a couple of nice European vacations at the least a new Honda CRV or something for my niece, haha.

want one of my speakers ''next to me''

instead for me when I fly in the galaxies I chose to be inserted into one of my speakers after having emptied it..I am comfortably there! LOL
Who is going to inherit my audio system? No one. I am going to live forever. I mean ... so far, so good, right?

My two sons might be interested in some of my modest set-up.  I doubt that they will keep the Parasound amp, as they are smallish guys and aren’t going to want to lug a 67 lbs. box.  They might divy up the other pieces — the biggest dispute will likely be over who gets the Martin Logan’s (but those are not light either).  They might also want the Bluesound Vault 2i, as they are accustomed to working with computers and would like the idea of storage for their music.

There is a nephew who might be interested in whatever pieces my sons don’t want, though he has a bad back and won’t be interested on lugging the amp either.  Hopefully my sons will ask a fair price for it (and likely the Parasound pre-amp too) when they go to sell it.

I also have an old Technics cassette deck and a few CD/DVD decks, and I guess those will go to Goodwill or Salvation Army.  I have two once-nice Sony VCR’s that I think would just be thrown out (I only keep them because they are too nice for me to bear throwing away).
