Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Ten Years After. "Watt".  Maybe their best
Tom Petty. "Hypnotic Eye".  Late great, one of his best
jimi Hendrix. "Midnight Lightning". An open channel and great drumming on this album.

Glad I could help uberwaltz!  :?)    TYA is one of my all time favs....
In response too your mention of Robin Trower, have you heard the albums he did with Jack Bruce from Cream?? B.L.T. is one of the titles I highly suggest you check out!! Awesome vocals with Robins licks!

Matt M
Billy Joel “Songs in the Attic” Mobile Fidelity double 45RPM. Such a great album!
Songs in the attic is a great album, gets much playtime at my house.
But mine is regular 33rpm single l.p. variety.
Never heard of the double 45rpm but sounds interesting indeed!
I did The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots on red, German Vinyl. I think this is their best album and sonically this record is amazing. Just picked up the reissue copy on red vinyl and have been extremely impressed with the sound quality of this pressing for not a crazy price, $22. It was my 7th and 8th run thru this record in 3 days.
Kenny Dorham - Quiet Kenny on AP 200 gram vinyl. This is such a great performance and the sound quality on this 33rpm Analog Productions version is one of the best in my collection. It is incredible. I really didn't know a lot about him when I picked this up and Holy Smokes am I glad I did. I have listened to this copy about 25 times in the last few weeks.
Also Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West on newly reissued vinyl.
This is by far their best record but I am not overly impressed by the pressing I picked up. Honestly I never had this one on vinyl so nothing to compare it to but digital but there is a pretty good amount of noise between the tracks,  but the album is so great anyway.
@mattmiller
"Awesome vocals with Robin licks..."

Am in complete agreement about the Tower/Bruce collaborations...
BLT, Truce & Seven Moons.

Don't forget Jack's excellent bass work.

See my 3/15/16 post in this thread (not to mention my avatar).
Shoji Yokouchi trio -  Greensleeves - this is a must have album in your jazz collection.

Chet Baker - Chet is Back

Wes Montgomery - Road Songs

Cheers
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue ... feels as if I reach my hand, I will touch the instruments...
Doing a little classical tonight. Started my concert of with some Barbara Hendricks but will finish with some jazz and my main man the incredible Ahmad Jamal.

Barbara Hendricks - Haydn Nelson Mass
Ahmad Jamal - Saturday Morning
Cheers

Lyle Lovett - "Joshua Loves Ruth" in honor of his show (along with Shawn Colvin) that I saw tonight.....
I went outta my mind today-
planet earth doc soundtrack
Hatebreed
Betty Davis - he was a big freak
and I concluded with adagio for strings?? However it’s spelled- I recently got some 803N’s so I’ve been going around the musical block....
The Moody Blues (To Our Children's Children's Children and On the Threshold of a Dream) and The Beatles (White Album).  Breaking-in a new cartridge!
Today was a blast from the past!  The Doors "LA Woman" and Deep Purple "Machine Head"
The Incredible Jimmy Smith - House Party (The Rudy Van Gelder Edition)
glorious!

cheers
@reubent ,

I had to correct you even though I know you know it...

Joshua (Judges) Ruth

I love Shawn Colvin!
@nutty,

Don't know if you remember.....? you posted "Free For All" a while back. This brought back a lot of memories. I knew I owned it at one time. Could not find it. I attended a record show last Sunday, I stumbled upon a WLP /w/ DJ timing strip "Free For All"\. I'm pretty darn happy...... will listen this weekend, hopefully?

 I actually ended up with some really nice finds, all in great condition!
Today I listened to The Who "Live At Leeds, Deluxe Edition" and Nirvana "Unplugged".
I am grateful for all the new music I have learned about on this forum. But, based on all the Robin Trower love here, I bought his Day of the Eagle CD, and I have to say that I am lost as to what is special about Robin Trower. Sounds like Hendrix but more practiced and less raw to my ears.
@kumakahn,

Is "Day of the Eagle" a real album title?

Having said that, it is a great song..but there's SO MUCH more of his catalog for you to discover. This might have been best to do before posting a "finding" on just one (cd)?
@slaw - Don't JUDGE me man! Don't JUDGE me!   :~)

Thanks for the correction.....
+1 slaw.

There are about a dozen Robin Trower albums in my rotation - they are all excellent.

Stephen Stills “2”. Incredible songwriter and guitarist!
Not everyone is going to like Trower, he can be an acquired taste for sure.
Just personal I do prefer Rory Gallagher or Pat Travers but like I said its all up to the individual.
Lohengrin, on Walhall, Rysanek, Varnay, Kónya at Bayreuth ‘58. Stupendous.
Speaking of another acquired taste but excellent is the late great Roy Buchanan.  His cover of Hey Joe is insane!
The thirteenth step.... A Perfect Circle

Cannot wait until April for their first new studio album in what 13 years or so!
If their teaser tracks are any indication it should be killer!
Charles Mingus - Mingus Dynasty
Miles Davis - Miles Smles
Erlend Skomsvoll - Fairy Tales
Nicholas Payton - Sketches in Spain

Cheers
