Amps I Like
I have appreciated the advice I have received on this forum, and many of you seem knowledgeable and kind. But, I cannot stand the smallness and snobbery that has permeated this forum. Those you who engage in this negativity are proving nothing but...
Melody Gardot, Live in Europe
Oh goody. More new voices to check out. Thanks, folkfreak!  A system isn’t much without great music.  I will also check out Madeleine Peyroux and Patricia Barber.  I love sultry female vocalists. While I am at it, I would recommend an all-Spanish C...
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
Again, thank you. Many ways to get there. I didn’t know about the Zen Mini. I like the specs for it. It seems to match the RC-1590 better than the Vault II. The Zen Mini can handle DSD, as does the RC-1590.
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
Wow, what a wealth of information. I appreciate it so much.  But, honestly, I just want to listen to music that sounds great and is easily located and selected. I spent too many hours configuring networks, etc. when I had my own business. I want s...
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
I really appreciate the kind respnses. I am still a little confused.  Lukaske, it seemed from your response that your NAS is connected wirelessly to a Squeezebox, which I assume functions like a tablet, and that the NAS is then connected to your D...
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
My preamp does have a DAC. I think the main issue is how to push the music from the NAS to the preamp.
Pre and Amp Suggestions
I already had the hotel RB-1590 amp and finally found a reasonable deal on an RC-1590 preamp, which replaced my RC-1580. I was going to go to vinyl, for which the 1580 was designed. But, I decided to go all digital instead. With the 1590 pre/amp c...
I’m pretty sure I’ve lost my mind...
If they are that good, I would be willing to pay a reasonable price for them based on the costs of R&D, production and distribution, plus a reasonable profit margin - a.k.a. far less than what they are asking.
Brilliant Pebbles, a new tweak, cheaper than high end cables.
Sounds like just more of Dr. So and So’s magic elixer to me. I read these forums for actual, valuable information, not advertising masquerading as forum comments.
Is it all in my head??
Personally, I would really appreciate someone pointing me to some sources of sound, scientific information about what factors make up a true, audiophile grade interconnect and which characteristics tend to enhance clarity, treble, bass speed, etc....
Where to buy Rotel products?
I can’t afford the RC-1590 yet, having just spent a bunch getting back into photography.  Right now I have the RC-1580. It sounds great. But no digital connectivity.  The speed and range of the 1590 amp really impress me. I am not sure I will get ...
Where to buy Rotel products?
Rotel may have a reputation for mid-fi. But, I have listened to a lot of fine amps, and I never heard one that sounded better than my RB-1590. It is way above Rotel’s other amps, which are good sometimes, just not great. The 1590 is great.
DAC choice
Please don’t get me wrong. So far, I have been very impressed with the Rotel RB-1590 amp, and I have no reason to believe the companion preamp will disappoint me. I just want to make the best buy I can. In my experience so far, the Rotel amp seems...
Musiclink cables sound better reversed
I can compare the RB-1590 to the NAD M25, which I tried at home before returning it for the Rotel. I used four of its channels to biamp my B&Ws. To me at least, the M25 sounded really good, but I missed the airy highs of my old Rotel 1075. To ...
Musiclink cables sound better reversed
All my reference CDs sounded better last night with the Musiclinks reversed than with any of my other cables. In the “right” direction, bass drums sounded like someone plunking on a watermelon, and the mids and highs sounded compressed and muffled...
