Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

@czarivey
Lol, you might just be the only one.....
Only song I ever heard was Relax.

Starting my day off right

August &Everything..... Counting Crows
Byrds
Pinetop Perkins
Amos Lee
headed into some Atlanta Rhythm Section....next

Well, I wanted to check if I'm the only one here listening to Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Right now spinning and enjoying every song of "Liverpool" Just paid $1 at thrift store for mint one.
Wishbone ash, also a favorite of mine. Just Testing- 1st "albumn" I ever purchased. I bought a used copy in Gulfport Mississippi on vacation many years ago. Cost me $2.00. What was cool about it? I already knew it was a great album because arcam88 played it for me many times while I was at his home. And they rock and they were one of the best early bands to have great dual guitars.
"Living Proof"

Also I’m going through this new Satriani- again, What Happens Next. It’s excellent. It gets better and better the deeper you get into it. The title track is very engaging. "Cherry Blossoms" and "Smooth Soul", very nice...But check out Glenn Hughes on track 7- "Headrush". Along side of Joe, he lays down some mean bass licks around 50 seconds into the song, again around 2:20 and then at 3:00.

American dream .... Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young

Another purchase today, $4 and vinyl looks and sounds like it has never been played before...score!
@arcam88.

One thing I have found with all my Wishbone Ash vinyl is that they are really well engineered and mastered. Excellent instrument separation and feeling of air and space.
I remember seeing them in England and it was pretty amusing. There was no build up or announcement, they just sort of shuffled on stage, played a phenomenal set and then shuffled off again.
Too funny.
Finishing John Fogerty  "Eye of the Zombie", wow...what a talent, what a voice!
All of Glen’s stuff is excellent!!

He is also associated with The Swell Season, & The Frames. You’ve gotta get a hold of their (The Frames) lp, "Fitzcarraldo", maybe only on the now OOP/ Music On Vinyl? Mind-blowing stuff! Highly Recommended!!

If you like what you hear, read up on his journey... you’ll come to love him even more.
@slaw

Love The Wallflowers, not quite so keen on their newer album, Glad its Over though.
Sort of an uptempo Counting Crows.

Had never heard of Glen Hansard but just had a listen via Tidal and I like what I hear. Thank you
I mentioned The Wallflowers "Breach" recently..

just relistened. Wow! Superior in every way to "Bring Down The Horse", IMO.

I've had several new lps sitting around...I'm putting on the AP/45rpm Lynrd Skynyrd  "Second Helping"  for an initial listen.
@slaw

Quite a number have been waiting patiently for the equicore.....lol.
Just spoke to Mark and its being burned in and prepping for ship.
I am very hopeful it will match the hype.

Ok, so you can play mono on stereo cart and preamp but will just not be as accurate as a dedicated mono setup. That is good to know though.
Thank you
@uberwaltz

I am dreaming of an Equicore. Let us know how it works out, please!

My K&K Audio Trio phono-preamplifier was custom made for me by Kevin Carter with custom resistors for all of the cartridges I currently own. I can switch from mono/stereo, polarity, etc.. really nice options. In addition, I do have a Ortofon Cadenza Mono cart when needed. The Ortofon is strapped internally.

To answer your question directly, yes. It all depends on how accurate of reproduction you want to go for.

Can you play mono vinyl with a regular stereo cart?
Or do you swap carts/arms to play?
My Corepowertech equicore1800 is being shipped Monday which should take everything to an even higher level.
One of the first power regeneration plants that is actually capable of handling power amps.
Everything will get plugged in, read some of the reviews, I will chime in once I have got it and tested.
...been a while for this one, out of the mono box..(lp)

The Beatles "For Sale".....some damn quiet vinyl!
My day just got even better....

Glen Hansard "Between Two Shores" (lp)

..I do admit to being biased towards this great artist...
@slaw

Too funny!
Sorry!
Well at least you figured I was FROM the UK......lol.
@uberwaltz,

I’m in the US.....I kind of thought you were in the UK.

(just ordered 4 more of the HFC  MC 0.5 wall plugs.)

Cheers!

@slaw

Where in the UK are you?
I grew up in Nottingham but moved to the USA in 2000.
And now living the dream....so they tell me.....
poorer only in one way......much richer in another............

Donald Fagen  "Sunken Condos"  clear vinyl
@slaw

Simply amazing what level some of these tweaks can take our systems to.

Just back from our used vinyl shop and a little poorer!

The Wake......IQ
@uberwaltz

Installed two HFC MC-0.5 wall plugs into my system yesterday. Everything I posted yesterday was heard with their benefit. Really liking what I'm hearing so far!

Prince "Diamonds & Pearls" / EU/(lp)
Evaluating a new SR Blue fuse in my system so what else but.....

Crime of the century.....Supertramp

Growing up the hard way.....Mamas Boys

ozzy
St Germain Tourist
Phil Ochs  the Best Of
The Clash London Calling
Mink DeVille  Collection
Erin Mckeown  Moday Morning Cold
Mary Gauthier’s new CD - Rifles & Rosary Beads. Very special CD from Mary.
@slaw
The store had all 3 perfect circle lps but I balk at paying $35 per album!
So at half price I did not mind but they now only had mer de noms left.
Can’t wait for their new album as the recent teaser tracks are righteous!
Saw them live last year at Rockville.
CSN......Crosby, Stills and Nash
The Tidal MQA master version.
Stellar, nearly as good as the vinyl pressing and much superior to CD version.
Ben Harper/Charlie Musslewhite. "Get Up!"

Eric Clapton "461 Ocean Boulevard"

Rolling Stones. "Goats Head Soup"

all vinyl all the time
I've owned the Perfect Circle lp for years...always thought it sounded good.
Our local FYE had a 50% off sale on some select new vinyl today and I could not resist.....

Dark Adrenaline......Lacuna Coil

Mer De Noms........ A Perfect Circle

Very nice mastering job on both albums and 180g to boot
Unleashed Memories...
Dark Adrenaline...........Lacuna Coil.

A not very well known Italian gothic metal band...sounds like they should be awful but the girl can sing like an angel! Their earlier stuff, 2002 to 2008 is their best imho
Close the night with Retrospective3....Rush.
Been listening to these guys since 74, remember wearing a copy of 2112 out in 76 in the student common room!
I know a lot of love for Glenn Hughes here but top of my mental list when I think bass players comes Geddy Lee, I mean he plays, sings and plays keyboard with his feet !
Alex lifeson also vastly underrated guitarist
Neil peart....what more needs be said about one of the very best drummers in the world
@nutty
Joe was next up on my playlist!
What happens next and then still one of my fave albums of his, Engines of Creation
Joe Satriani, What Happens Next
Joe's newest features Glenn Hughes on bass and Chad Smith on drums.

Today I have been listening to Rainbow - Black Masquerade, Led Zeppelin - I am gonna Leave You,  Bob Seger - Blowing Against The Wind and The Fire Inside. Then I went further a field and Listened to Diamanda Galas - The Iron Lady, what a song and what a singer. Then on to Sains Sans - Dance Macabre and onto Richart Wagner - Siegrfrieds Funeral, that is a piece written by a true musical genius. Then on to Sibelius to his last movement of his First Symphony, not his famous stuff but for me this piece of music has a certain resonance with me.
