reubent,
Yeah, I'm in Cincinnat. arcam88 and I grew up together. Been to a few concerts together also. Queen was probably the most memorable. I agree, Budgie punches way above their weight class. Thanks for the offer on the CD's. I'll keep it in mind.

dgarretson---How is the sound of those three new BB SACD's? Those three albums (plus Sunflower) are real good ones from that period in their history. I see they are also available on LP; guess I'll have to choose between the two, 'cause I'll spend $100 on them, but not $200! |
"What's New", - Linda Ronstadt/Nelson Riddle...amazingly good on vinyl.
"Live In The Air Age" - BeBop Deluxe, digital My vinyl copy all worn out. One of the best performances and live recordings I've heard. "Adventures In A Yorkshire Landscape" alone is worth the price of admission. In fact, if you're unfamiliar with Bebop start here, their studio stuff pales by comparison.
"Brothers In Arms" - Dire Straits. Needed a Knopfler fix... |
Trower "Twice Removed From Yesterday"!
|
@bdp24 There is some variability of SQ, particularly within Holland, but all three SACDs sound fine. I haven’t yet compared them to other new and old versions I have on LP. Without revealing specifics, Acoustic Sounds mentions that most but not all their BB releases are from original master tapes. There is controversy on other forums about the surround mix on Sunflower, but apparently no foul in stereo. I bought the SACDs instead of the LP versions because with my current digital set-up I slightly prefer MoFi SACDs to their 45 RPM vinyl counterparts. |

ghosthouse, Great post, thanks for the links. Like you, I am not big fan of Miller. But he has some great hits that will live on. I recently played his greatest hits out by the pool with friends. His groove is refreshing every now and then. Today I listened to Wishbone Ash, Just Testing.... I found a great link of them performing "Living Proof". https://youtu.be/L6xxDrPgIisjafant, Not a big GNR fan but Slash ranks high on my guitar hero list. N |
Hey Nutty - Not sure what hits collection you were playing. The 2 compilations that I like (they focus on pre-Fly Like an Eagle) are Steve Miller Band - Anthology and Steve Miller Band - The Best of 1968 - 1973.
Good reminder on Wishbone Ash. I will have to dig into them. Have some OLD vinyl that was/is my wife's but they never hooked me. Still, worth trying again. One of the first bands to feature twin leads.
haha - I gave jafant some grief about GnR over on The Minority Report. Hope he doesn't mind. |
ghosthouse,
Regarding Steve Miller, I have..Steve Miller Band, Young Hearts, Complete Greatest Hits, CD..2003...22 tracks.
