Hey @music_is_life welcome to THE thread.

The Delines - The Imperial

@bslon hey Bro.   Didn’t know you were a fan of Jane - but of course you are.  I really like that band, not being afraid to display my love of prof stuff.   Very cool.

The Grip Weeds / Dig
2021 JEM
Nice selection of late 60’s rock covers.

The Blue Stingrays / Surf-N-Burn
1997 Epitone

The Heartbreakers play Surf Music. Fun record, great SQ.

Queensryche: Mindcrime at the Moore

Not the best recording, but not as bad as Yessongs! Good performance overall. Cool colored vinyl though! A good one for QR fans, but not highly recommended.

Astor Piazzolla - The American Clavé Recordings • 2022 Nonesuch (Germany)

This is really cool.  Beautiful music.  Arrived today.  Gave the first album of this three disc set another listen on the digital streamer earlier this evening, saving the record for a nightcap and comparison.  Of course the record gives so much more - that’s expected but in this case, wow, all the things I love about records are here on display.  Warmth, detail, tonal accuracy, liquid sweetness, natural overlapping of instruments, natural harmonics.  It sounds so real.  The digital version was exciting and conveyed the musical ideas but the record, wow, so much emotion.   If anyone who loves good music played this album on their home stereo without being moved I’d be really surprised.

@spiritofradio Nice - I'll look forward to checking out the Piazzolla!

A friend found this in a used shop in Seoul and brought it back for me yesterday on the plane. It's a great pressing, and I like Cal Collins - he was new to me.

That Crusaders album last night was really special, one of the best recordings I’ve listened to in a while. Chain Reaction is one of their best records and this copy was amazing.

It appears to be a MFSL test pressing. It’s in a plain white sleeve with a stamp at the top that says "Sample Record Not For Sale" and "Record No. MFSL-1-010A/B Sample No. 5". I can’t find anything like it on Discogs. I have a VG+ standard MFSL pressing also and this sounds much more dynamic than I remember that one sounding and the vinyl is NM.

The best part is I got it at my local record store for $10.98.

@big_greg what a find. Crusaders we’re a great band. Joe Sample (May he RIP) one of the all time greats. In the 70s every decent high school stage band in America played their stuff - this included ours. Wayne Henderson was a idol of mine. You are so lucky to stumble on those test pressings. Love to hear that record sometime.

Last night....

Philip Glass- Koyaanisqatsi
Angby Kammakor - JEFTA Oratorium Carissimi  (Proprius)
D Levinson, M Levinson and B Elgart- Jazz at Long Wharf
David Sylvian (Jansen, Barbieri, Karen) - Rain Tree Crow
Ennio Morricone - The Mission
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing
Maneige - Maneige

@big_greg   Thank you for the good description of that Crusaders album.  I have wanted that for years but never got around to finding one.  With your description I logged on to Discogs and found a MFSL NM copy for $29.99  There were others for much more, but this particular seller described the album has appearing never to have been played.  It's a MFSL limited edition so the best price is the one that got my purchase.  Thanks again.

Greg, nice finding that Chain Reaction LP, you seem to score often on finding well recorded records. Your LRS sounds like a good one. I don’t listen to my fusion stuff enough but when I do the go-to’s are the Crusaders CR or Tropea. Nice to have a great copy!

ZZ Top "Deguello"

1979/Warner. Would be a helluva candidate for a 1Step.

RCA Club version.

Chrissie Hynde & The Valve Bone Woe Ensemble

2019/BMG

Sounding fantastic so far!

Having the tube amps in my system has been very satisfying so far. The music is more alive in every aspect. Really nice!

Yeah Steve, I found the tube amp change to my system gave that same aspect.  However, I also found that it takes a full three sides of albums until it sounds its best.  The solid state amp only took two sides.  LOL, an easy price to pay!

The Cars  -  Candy-O   A great album and a great album cover.

Gregg Allman  -  Laid Back   Reissue by AP/QRP, what great music and what a great pressing.

Hey Joel, I hooked them up up to the 4 ohm tap last weekend and while the midrange was outstanding as was the sense of space, but the bass wasn’t up to par I tried the 8 ohm tap today and that did the trick!!

My speakers say 4 ohms.

@ticat

Philip Glass- Koyaanisqatsi
Angby Kammakor - JEFTA Oratorium Carissimi  (Proprius)
D Levinson, M Levinson and B Elgart- Jazz at Long Wharf
David Sylvian (Jansen, Barbieri, Karen) - Rain Tree Crow
Ennio Morricone - The Mission
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing
Maneige - Maneige

This was a most excellent set man.  Was bummed when my LRS sold out of the RSD Koyaanisqatsi.  I’ve streamed it several times though - its very cool.  As for the rest, all excellent selections.

@slaw Hey Steve. I finally got a spindle hole reamer: a Sable 33.33. Really nice gizmo to have around.

@spiritofradio

Continuing on with the Yes catalog. Steve Howe is a true virtuoso.

Steve Howe - Beginnings

1975 Atlantic

James and Steve, I got a spindle hole reamer about 2 months ago.  Mine is a Clearaudio.  Expensive but very well made and feels good in the hand.  I never had the need for one, but my Dr. Feickert Blackbird has a spindle that seems to be just too snug for some albums.  The reamer does the trick.  Tools and tweaks, they will never end...

Steve, my speakers are also 4 ohm rated but I know they dip well below 2 ohm.  I use the 4 ohm taps on the amp and that sounds better than the higher taps.  I look forward to my forthcoming speakers.  They have a very tight impedance curve, nearly flat at 6 ohm up and down the audio spectrum, and are 96db sensitivity.  Those will be a really good pairing with my amp.  It's been a long wait and in April I was advised that late May or sometime in June is the likely ship date.

Joel,

Uncle Kevin drilled it into us about trying every tap to hear what sounds better.

There's a pic on my system page.

@mammothguy54 That’s quite exciting news Joel. Please keep us posted.
